It was late.Far later than she had even intended on the day being. So much had happened today, and even after calling upon several of teh Gods, including Mathew...the blonde had drafted notes on her findings and tucked them away into the inner pocket of her coat.
And so then began the lengthy jog home.
Kyrie was tired...but as she neared the house that had...quickly become hers, she could feel some spring in her steps. She would fall straight asleep, this night. That she could count as a blessing.
David B. said:
As arrived, Kiyrs senses would likely pick up on someone...already inside. And this someone was not her sister.
Kyrie Blaze said:
She stepped quietly inside...slowed...stilled.There was something off. Immediately she looked around, stretching her qi out in the darkness that was her home. Her heart quickened. If they weren't in the immediate rooms, she would quickly and quietly close the door...and move in.
David B. said:
David stepped out of the hall, dressed in a casual Tshirt and jeans, eyes already on her."No need for all that. Just me."
Kyrie Blaze said:
The tension fled from her body as David stepped forward. Her gaze relaxed from sharp scrutiny to mild exhaustion."...apologies... It has been a long and trying day."
David B. said:
[12:57:02 AM] David Blaze: David would watch her, silent for a second."It will probably get worse for you before the end of it."
Kyrie Blaze said:
What did he mean? Bewildered blue eyes widened. That she was confused and...even afraid was apparent. Her gaze lifted to the stairs."Arianna? Did something happen while I was away?" Her breath hitched for a moment before her gaze fell back to him.
Kyrie Blaze said:
For a split moment, the blonde stilled, and didn't even breathe. Her gaze wavered, like she wanted to bolt, but her feet remained grounded as though rooted to the floor.Because it was him, she stayed, trying to be brave.
Her heart and mind cried a denial...though her mind had already caught on to the words he said. Kyrie waited, staring at him.
David B. said:
David walked into the living room, hands into his pockets."I spent a long time, agonizing over the decision. Much to your detriment, and hers. You both are wonderful people- but Les has something you don't, Kiyr."
He paused, watched her compassionately.
"A daughter. And that daughter sees me as a father. I have to try with her again...at least one more time. For her. It doesn't mean I care about you any less- it's why I came to tell you, rather than have you hear it from rumor. I want to look you in the eye and tell you that I love you and always will. I trust you with my life. But I have to give my all for the future, Maddie included- and that girl would be traumatized if I just up and left. she would blame me, and you, forever if I didn't give Olesya at least one more shot."
He looked down, taking a slow, deep breath.
"I am sorry, Kyrie, for the pain you will have from this."
Kyrie Blaze said:
The blonde edged forward, drawn by him and through sheer force of will to move her feet. She could go no further than the wall, though, and watched him as he spoke. The colour slowly slipped from her face. There was a lump in her throat that she couldn't swallow, but it also prevented her from uttering a sound out of the ones that threatened. Her mind scattered as e told her...but at least he told her. At least he cared that much. At least that much was different, this time.
Because it was him, she tried to smile.
Instead, her lips simply wobbled.
Because it was him, she failed.
Because some part of her understood, she didn't quicken to anger. Because his reason was Maddie - who, as an innocent little girl, she couldn't help but care for - she didn't yell. She couldn't have brought herself to lash out at him, anyway. And Maddie was one of the reasons - one of the many reasons, reasons he'd never asked for - she had verbally slapped Olesya for exploding on him. But...
Because it was him there was no hiding.
She was lost to that ability, he was that close to her that anything she might have tried to put up had she thought of it...wouldn't work to begin with. He'd see the consequences because he had to. He likely would have had to witness it with Olesya, too. But every choice had consequences...it was something she grew up knowing. Something Mathew had reminded her of.
And in that she couldn't hide from him, he'd see it in her eyes as the tears built and spilled, unchecked.
Heartbreak.
David B. said:
David took it in- the pain, the heartbreak...everything she was feeling he turned on himself. This was what he told her- that in his death, his hope was that she would remember him, with kindness, not with trepidation or regret."I want to comfort you because I love you. But If I do you will come to hate me for it. Find one you trust, Kyrie, and confide in them. Let them become your anchor. I am...so sorry."
He started to walk past, and paused, watching her for a moment longer, before he took off into the night....as his hands touched the sky like wings, the usual joy found no home with him, and his own tears would rain down on the city below and he let the wind carry him away.

The tiny blonde had no choice but to accept it. Perhaps she couldn't right this moment, but it was part of her very nature. Her breath caught in her throat as he stepped forwards after speaking, her brows draing together. She watched him, desperately wanting something--anything, to believe it could possibly be okay for her, in the end.Her lips cracked open and one tiny word escaped, whole, despite her inability to speak.
"David."
The name on her lips continued to tear her heart to shreds in her chest and the first sob that bubbled up escaped, unbidden, as he took to the sky. As he grew wings, she swayed, stumbled, and then quickly staggered up the stairs, into her room. She couldn't remember breathing during everything he'd said, and so her breaths came in deep gasps.
She didn't think that Hyperion had warned her of this, didn't think of the prophecy or advice he'd given her--to seek the trees. She didn't even stumble into her sister's room. He'd hear. David would hear and she didn't want him to bear witness to her turmoil--in a way, she didn't want to hold him back and didn't want to hurt him, no matter how grievously he'd hurt her.
Gregory's necklace, Delilah's necklace, set into her top drawer. Clothes and items divested, then simple pants and a t-shirt were put on. Her weapon she had saved - Hulda - clattered onto the dresser. Where she was going, she didn't want to damage them. Shaking hands picked up the Sky Force jacket, the only thing she would take this night--and even that she didn't want to. But she needed it all the same.
The noise, undoubtedly, drew attention. She froze long enough to hear the pad of feet and yanked herself away from the dresser, away from the door, to throw the window open to the night.
Arianna Barrial said:
While not a light sleeper, it certainly wasn't normal to hear muffled sobs - aside from night terrors that occasionally visited her sister - or the clap of feet, the clatter of metal. Arianna's eyes snapped open before she threw the covers back. Touching her feet to the floor and rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she quickly made her way to her younger sister's room.A thief wouldn't be sobbing.
By the time she crossed the doorway, the blonde had the window open.
"Kyrie?"
Kyrie Blaze said:
Teary blue eyes looked back, seeing her sister. Wanting, yearning, but needing something else, more."I will return."
With that, she tucked her body - her ribs twinging from the fall a few nights prior and the effort of containing her grief, now - and stepped out onto the shingled roof that shielded the porch. She crouched as a mask formed across her face, blacker than the night itself. When she blasted off from it, it dislodged a few of them, leaving a breeze that swept into the room. A few shadowy feathers were left in her wake, dissipating to wisps in the night as they fell.
Arianna Barrial said:
Haunted. Hurt.Arianna knew it when she saw it, knew the cause without needing to be told. She'd suffered similarly earlier in her life, and even recently. But her eyes widened as she saw the intent to leave--how long she didn't know.
"Kyrie!" She made it to the window to catch the backdraft. To watch her sister speed off into the air through the night. Tears glinted in her eyes. She didn't doubt that they fell from Kyrie's as well as she sped to the West. But there was no way to follow her. No way to call her back.
She would have to trust that she would make it back. Hopefully tomorrow.
Kyrie Blaze said:
Through the night sky she sped, pushing hard and fast over LAX, heading for that which the moon and starlight reflected off of, here on earth. So much closer, easier to grasp and smash through. She was a dark comet that arrowed for the water and fearlessly plunged into it. Not too deep. Not too far out. But as the water surrounded her as she shot into it, as all the air cleared, the blonde screamed beneath the waves to release the pent-up anguish that rolled like a storm inside herself. Air bubbles floated off, the sound quickly, utterly dampened even before they hit the surface and popped.
The intent was to let it out, somewhere she didn't need to try to find a place hundreds of miles away on a journey she'd never make. She surfaced to pull in a breath or two of air and dove below again before releasing another stream of bubbles, the salt water erasing her tears.
