The man in the tank.Einrik thoughtfully approached the floating Elder. The little blonde was finally sleeping and he wasn't on guard-duty. Though it had only been a short time he'd been around her, he already knew she didn't sleep for very long. Nor very deeply, it seemed to him. He didn't watch over her like Gregory did, but he definitely kept an eye on Gregory. The look in the man's eyes had been genuine, but that sort of thing - sitting, watching her sleep - struck him as obsessive. And it wasn't just her sleeping habits he'd taken note of.
The Titan tilted his head, wordlessly. Where to start?
"You chose well." He flashed a wry grin, mostly mocking himself. But only briefly. He'd done what he thought was right, but it turned out he'd been too rash. "When I met her, I sorely misjudged her."
He didn't know why, but he continued: "I'm sorry for that. I insulted her and Hyperion in doing so. At least I had the chance to see it, though I'm still pretty certain Hyperion was wanting to just stick my head on a pike and be done with it. Instead he charged me with her protection. There's no way for me to go back, or my head really will wind up on a pike. I thought she would humiliate me and cast me away before even hearing me out. I expected it, really, after what I'd said. She surprised me again by treating me as a guest. So I'll take ten thousand blades and many more deaths before I'll let harm fall unto her.
"So I'll repeat myself: you chose well."
He'd noted and watched her interactions with others. Elders, Core, civilians. There was something off when she interacted with this Elder. Not in a negative way, or even extremely noticeable. It was subtle. She held herself back.
"I guess I want you to know that she'll be watched over." He tilted his head, watching the suspended man with keen eyes and a smirk. "So whenever you decide to wake up there'll be something left. She'll work hard enough to drive herself into the ground. Or, well, if we had any ground for her to drive herself into for everyone on this ship--and everyone she plans to retrieve. Quite a few for you, from what I know. I'll call you a lucky man and butt-fuck blind if you don't know she has feelings for you. But."
He stretched and flicked his head to the side with the satisfying crackle and sensation of joints popping. He played it off casually despite his former words.
"That's neither here nor there."
David B. said:
David felt the man enter. His muscles were slack, he was caught in a shell. Trapped in a prison of his own making. And he was satisfied with it. This one, he recognized as Kiyrs new Titan friend. The one called "Einrik". He spoke, and David listened, eyes closed but still getting the image of the form of the fellow from his Qi. He couldn't answer, or offer his appreciation for the guys words.Only a few bubbles left his mouth as he breathed out, wanting to let him know that he was thankful.
Damien Blaze said:
Damien, on the other hand, leaned forward, watching Einrik with sharp blue eyes. He didn't say anything, for now...he just watched, and waited, from his bed in the corner. Kyrie Blaze said:
She had shared certain information. Just about this man's condition. His body would be healed but his mind, overstimulated? He didn't want to wake up? It seemed to him that someone in this room was being a chickenshit. He wasn't sure if he wanted to say that. Depended on how far in he got.
In fact, he was absolutely tempted to set out some bullshit - currently, anyway, and as far as he knew it would continue to be - about making her his to see if he could provoke a reaction. His mind was there, but could he hear? The man in the tank continued to just breathe, keeping his secrets if indeed there were some to keep.
"I know she can do it, but I can see it wears on her. You're here, probably one of the only three Elders that truly gives a damn about the people. If Mathew does, he's got hilarious ways of showing it. He's on the ship, haven't seen hide nor hair from him. Your other Elder stayed on Earth--no idea if he'll be coming along with us but he's only helpful if you want to fight on a whim. Mathew makes war, more often than not, so maybe his silence is a good thing. Then again maybe not; how much time until he starts throwing his weight around, I wonder? So just another reason you chose her, am I right? She's the next best. You're reliable, but - frankly - not here."
Einrik tilted his head. He could do non-committal.
"Which means, too, that someone could yank her from beneath your nose, if they bothered to try."
He casually leaned back against one of the empty tanks.
Damien Blaze said:
Damien took a piece of jerky from his bag and bit into it, silently. In his other hand, was a knife, twirled silently as well. He didn't know this guy- he talked to David like he knew him, and maybe he did. But regardless, Damien was there to watch over his brother while he was at his weakest, and if that meant sticking a knife into the guys spine while he wasn't looking...he would do so.He wasn't like David, or Mathew, or the rest. He would kill you with your back turned and sleep soundly at night after. He didn't fight with honor, or respect, or for justice. He would kill indisciminately to live.
So he watched.
David B. said:
David, internally, felt his heckles raise, but outwardly, his eyes were closed and he appeared to "dream" on, listening to every word. Kyrie Blaze said:
Einrik made no threatening moves. He didn't have to. Even without the potential of feelings mixed into the mess, he could clearly see that if harm were to landon David, it would play out like a domino effect and would eventually bring harm down on Kiyr. He yawned."Guess that sure sucks for you, either way. I wonder if that bothers you!" He snickered, then laughed "But I don't even know if you can hear me--and taunting you isn't my purpose here even though I'd like to call you a chickenshit. I guess that might be the same part of me that called Kiyr a thief, believing she stole Hyperion's Titan Circle. And, well, that would be on top of calling you a good leader, anyway."
Not so good as Hyperion, though. He was still fiercely loyal to that man, though the same devotion fell to Kiyr. She wasn't like he'd called it.
Damien Blaze said:
Davids right index finger twitched.Damien noticed it, and smirked, biting into his jerky. Guess name-calling did get to him after all, even if it was subconcious.
David B. said:
For Davids part, he didn't care if he wanted to die- someone called him a chickenshit, he'd kick their face in. Unfortunately, his body refused his orders, and he continued to heal and sleep. Kyrie Blaze said:
The finger twitch drew another laugh."I'd wager you're not a fan of being called chickenshit." He grinned. "Can't say I blame you. Tell you what--when you wake up, we'll have a couple drinks and if you feel like, you can punch me in the schnozz if you really want to."
Damien Blaze said:
Damien chuckled from his corner, his legs and hands in the pulsing light and easily visible during brighter moments, but the rest of him was in the dark."He can't hear you. I've called him worse and he doesn't move. I think either the twitch was coincidental, or subconsious. I rather like the latter. Makes me pleased to know he's pissed."
Damien took another bite, his pearly white teeth shimmering as it pulled from the meat. David listened to his brother, wishing he could roll his eyes.
Kyrie Blaze said:
It didn't seem to surprise the Titan that David's younger - hah! - brother was there. Einrik did, however, look towards where the sound came from, and shrugged."Either way, it's nice to speak to a captive audience. At the very least you can get shit off your chest without being pummelled straight away." He eyed Damien. While he hadn't rushed in the other night when Kiyr used the Circle to blast him, he'd looked in regardless, considering he couldn't see through walls. "Feeling recovered?"
Damien Blaze said:
Damien tilted his head."Yes. You?"
Perhaps the man didn't know what he was talking about.
Kyrie Blaze said:
"Last time I did anything strenuous was the battle, aside from training." His quick grin flashed again. "And I wasn't the one that decided to test Hyperion's Circle out." Damien Blaze said:
Damien flexed his other hand, taking another bite before shrugging."True, you weren't hurt physically like I was. But you remember me Einrik. So I'm sure you understand how satisfying it is for me to ask if you have recovered from being thrown out on your ass by Hyperion, like I was?"
Einrik had been one of those calling for his head. Casting him out and calling him a dog. He had to admit...it was nice to see him here against his will.
Kyrie Blaze said:
His eyes narrowed a touch. Yeah, he remembered. He just preferred to focus on the present, considering there was no going back. If he wanted to dwell on it, it wasn't often. The little blonde would die if he had both hands busy clinging to the past and then he'd be done for, too. And ironically, it was also her that kept him from testing out just how satisfying crunching his foot into Damien's skull would be. Stupid connections."I'd hope the years have tempered your betraying ways. I doubt even your brother would tolerate it if you slid a knife into Kiyr's back when he's out of it."
Was he aware of that? Hard to say.
"Not to mention Hyperion."
He left himself unspoken, but it was still there all the same.
Arianna Barrial said:
Off to the side a figure stirred beneath the blankets. It was late, so her body told her, and sleep was a good thing. Arianna gave a sigh and pulled the blanket over herself a little more as her eyes cracked open to the voices. Damien Blaze said:
Damien used the knife to pick a little meat from his teeth."You don't know what the fuck your talking about, lapdog."
His voice wasn't angry, agressive, or even condescending. It was spoken like any other sentence- and that was the true insult.
"If I wanted to kill Kiyr, there wouldn't be anything you could do to stop me. She'd be dead. The fact she isn't tells you enough. You are here because you did something to disgrace your leader, so don't get all self-righteous on me. As for Hyperion- he's a good fighter. I remember that much. But I don't ever remember displaying fear of him, you, or any of the other giants you strut around with. And he has never been my king. Either way, I answered your question and you refuted mine."
He looked back up at Einrik.
"Feeling recovered?"
He was such a smartass, but his attention was pulled slightly by the moving girl next to him. He kept his eyes on Einrik, but was slightly more withdrawn, remembering she was there with him.
Kyrie Blaze said:
Not even important enough to get riled up over. Bruises on top of wounds. A fist clenched before slowly relaxing as someone stirred. The sister, Arianna."Being that I'm not there and throttling you, I'd say recovered enough."
Kind of. He had a new purpose to focus on, which helped. If he didn't it'd be another story.
Arianna Barrial said:
Arianna peered up at Damien. She'd heard the voice enough to recognize it...but she wasn't aware of the circumstances between them. A hand crept its way from beneath the blanket to brush the backs of her fingers against his thigh."Mmm, are you two just going to trade snarks with one another all night..?" She yawned after speaking, loud enough for both of them to hear.
Damien Blaze said:
Damien glanced down at Arianna."It's okay, love. It's one of our favorite past-times. He pretends he's strong enough to do tons of violent things to me, and I pretend to care by giving him flashy insults. It's all rather good natured."
He wasn't smiling, however.
David B. said:
David was, at least in his head. He continued to listen and monitor, wondering if there might be a problem later on. Kyrie Blaze said:
Einrik snorted. Yeah, sure. Whatever he said. Kyrie Blaze said:
Her eyes held a faint tinge of teal in the glow of the tanks before she flicked his leg and wormed up to wrap her arms comfortably around his waist and looked between them."Yes, well. I think both of you can keep from escalating from this supposedly good-natured banter, right? Or," She smothered a yawn to eye Einrik. "I'll string you both up by your toes."
She was more irritated by waking up to it...she just hoped it wouldn't escalate.
Damien Blaze said:
Damien leaned back a little into her, indicating he had no intention of escalating it. Arianna was there, his brother was there...and Einrik was a little blip on his radar that liked to crook its nose down at things it couldn't comprehend."You ever want the true story and not one spoon fed to you by your king, you let me know. Otherwise, my brothers probably waiting for you two to finish your conversation. Right David?"
Damien Blaze said:
David would definitely have to kick him in the nuts, either in this life or the one that followed. Kyrie Blaze said:
Einrik snorted again. Mostly in laughter at the threat of Arianna stringing him and Damien both up. He imagined she would - try, anyway - but it wouldn't come to that on his part. Not just now, anyway."Whatever you say." His eyes drew back to the tank. He figured so long as he didn't make any moves towards David, though he hadn't the inclination to, anyway, Damien would just squawk. "Seems I got sidetracked. It happens."
Arianna Barrial said:
Arianna sighed, a hand slipping beneath his shirt to brush over and rub the small of Damien's back, content he wouldn't do anything. She brushed her cheek against his side and relaxed. Damien Blaze said:
Damien did not, in fact, SQUAWK!....he hissed. Like a cat. But he wouldn't do that now- he remained silent, David turning his thoughts and hearing back on Einrik, as the water muffled his ability to hear, along with his ability to feel. There was air in the water...but not enough, and it was hard to focus on them both. This was much better. David B. said:
Bubbles surfaced again as he waited. Kyrie Blaze said:
Drinking and punching, that's what he had been talking about. He haphazardly stretched."Nngh, anyway. Just wanted to let you know she's in good hands while you're out, despite whatever bullshit your brother's likely to say about me." The grin came back. "I just make no guarantees about anyone attempting to sweep her off her feet, so you might wanna think about that. The general opinion seems to be for you to not wait fifteen years, but, they'll get by if they have to. I'd wager even your little brother wants you to wake up despite the stick shoved up his ass."
He grunted and pushed himself to his feet with a laugh. He'd probably be back at some other point. For now he looked over to Damien and Arianna. "I'm sure you're in for a pretty lengthy storytime if you care to listen. I'm out. Kiyr will probably be awake soon enough, if she's not already."
Arianna Barrial said:
Arianna's eyes cracked open at the movement before she listened, quietly."Mn, g'night Einrik."
She made no comment about the stories, just let him go on his way, her hand rubbing up and along the middle of Damien's back.
Damien Blaze said:
Damien rolled his eyes at Einriks comments, not bothering to argue. As the man got up to leave, he spoke calmly."Sweet dreams, Einrik."
He would lean back so his shoulders pressed against the walls, letting out a breath.
"I don't have a stick up my butt, do I Arianna?"
He gave a small smile.
Kyrie Blaze said:
"Yeah, yeah. Yours are likely to be a bit better than mine with a woman at your side." He countered, "Night."And he was gone.
Arianna Barrial said:
Arianna hid her grin but her eyes would give her away."Only with some people, love. As for a literal stick up your ass, I couldn't say without tests."
She looked up, unearthing her grin from beneath the blanket.
Damien Blaze said:
Damien chuckled."Yeah, I guess so. And I should think it would be obvious I have nothing up there- though if I must get naked to prove myself, I will."
A michevious grin followed.
Arianna Barrial said:
He earned himself a mild poke along with a chuckle."Well, I'd been talking about an x-ray if absolutely necessary, but you don't seem to be in pain, so I don't think getting naked is a requirement."
She drew her nails lightly against the center of his back before scratching in a slow circle. Itchy back anywhere~?
Damien Blaze said:
Damiens eyes rolled closed, the male dipping his head back as she scratched."Mmm...geez. That feels good."
He went silent for a few moments as she worked.
"Arianna...are you religous?"
Arianna Barrial said:
She tilted her fingers to be able to use more of her nails over his skin and branched off around his back, as high as she could reach to begin with. She blinked at the question, a little curious as to the apparent randomness."I have my faith, so, yes."
Damien Blaze said:
He hummed."You believe in God? Or just in a higher power? Like Buddha, or Brahma?"
He turned his eyes toward her, slightly clouded by the pleasure he was feeling.
Arianna Barrial said:
"In God, yes...though I suppose I'm open to other possibilities as well."So she supposed "higher power" would also fit due to its ambiguity. Humans could be wrong. But she was Christian, so.
She looked up, continuing to scratch.
"Why do you ask..?"
Damien Blaze said:
Damien gave a half-hearted shrug."Sometimes...I just wonder some things about you. I know we'll have forever to figure it out but..."
He scanned her face.
"Are you rich?"
Arianna Barrial said:
Arianna blinked and took her time scratching his lower back before withdrawing her hand and sitting up with a thoughtful hum."I have my sister and my grandfather. I have you to light up my life for all the years we'll spend together. I have more family - your family - to accept as my own. I have a gift that enables me to help people, to make them better again." She pressed her lips to jis jaw. "I am very rich, indeed..."
She smiled.
"And, literally? My family was well off, so if we happen to stay on earth and if currency creeps its way back in, I suppose my family would be set, as well."
But she would rather think in the terms of her initial response.
Damien Blaze said:
Damien smiled."The first answer was perfect, as I doubt we will be returning to earth anytime soon. At least no permanently."
He glanced at the walls.
"I always wondered about space and travelling through the universe. Its mind boggling to know that everyone i've ever met in history or cared about is a part of the small dust in light we left behind."
He looked over at David.
"Well, almost everyone."
He looked back at her.
"Know what? We should make love. Right here. Just...hammer it out. That way, the wedding night won't hurt."
He grinned. Good excuse, right?
Arianna Barrial said:
Arianna smiled and leaned against him, cheek resting against his collar bone and smiled, listening."Hm..?" She murmured at his question before the rest caused her to blink and look up at him. Even the dim glow of the tank gave her blush away. "Wait, what?"
Damien Blaze said:
He laughed."Sorry...just...your so collected all the time and the idea of sex makes you get all flustered."
He would prepared for the flick or hit.
Arianna Barrial said:
Arianna coughed lightly and lightly nudged his side, bumping her cheek where it rested."You're horrible," She chuckled, peering up at him. But right. "You know that?"
Damien Blaze said:
He smiled, and kissed the top of her head."Of course I am. But you love me anyway."
He would rest against her and sigh, then call out to David.
"Hear that bozo! No show for you today. The woman says negative. Ah well. Maybe next time!"
Arianna Barrial said:
"Lucky for you, hmm~?" She teased, curling her arms around him as he called out to David.Yeah. That was another thing. Awkward and uncomfortable, in her mind.
But, she smiled and unwound an arm long enough to guide his attention back to her so she could kiss him. It was nice to know this wasn't a dream, that he was here.
Damien Blaze said:
He would snirk before she turned his face to kiss her...melting a little into her kiss.He pulled away slowly after, speaking softly.
"C-come on....lets go back to sleep."
Arianna Barrial said:
Her fingers brushed his jaw and then again when he pulled back. She gave a soft smile and nodded."Let's." She slid down and tucked herself against his side, letting her eyes fall shut.
