Pass Time Information
Hobbies:
Reading is her number one hobby, though, she also enjoys writing and spending time exploring lost and forgotten places. She has a passion for history, both ancient and recent. Abandoned buildings and forgotten warehouses are more like playgrounds than foreboding structures that should trigger fear and caution. Another hobby, or perhaps it is more of a habit really, is that Kadya loves to run. Every morning she goes running at the same time, along the same route. She does this again in the evenings, enjoying the quickening of her pulse and the rapid rate of her breathing. When her Father was around, he taught her, from an early age, how to defend herself. Now, she is by no means a proficient fighter, but she is working to become one. She just has to find the right way to go about it, as well as the inner strength that tells her she can.
Talents:
Despite the fact that she does not play very often, Kadya is very proficient at playing the violin. She was forced to take lessons as a child, by her Mother mostly, and at a young age she was playing well above her teacher's expectations. However, since the move, Kadya has neglected her violin and her lessons, choosing instead to focus on her studies and the trouble she is having at home.
Favorite things:
Kadya enjoys books, especially old books, as well as exploring new things. This can be a new field of study or some new place of interest that she has found. She enjoys growing and evolving as a person, digging deep to discover who she truly is.
Miscellaneous:
Kadya has a phobia of water, mostly all forms. She is capable of tolerating showers and baths, as they are necessary, however, she still finds herself in a bit of a rush to get out whenever possible. When it comes to larger forms, such as rivers or lakes, she becomes overwhelmed with fear and will often freeze in place, or leave, situation pending. Oddly enough, though, she does have a natural attraction to the rain, or perhaps just the darkened skies and the refreshing scent that the rain has to offer. To be honest, it is really hard to tell.
Mental Information
Personality:
Overall, Kadya is a very nice and independent girl. She learned at an early age to rely on herself for most things, and since moving here with her Mother, that reliance has become much more evident. Quiet and often times a bit shy, she may be slow to warm up to people, but when she does she is easy to make friends with.
To those she becomes friends with, she may seem a bit weird at times, mostly due to her somewhat strange view on the world and the mechanics of how things work, especially people. She has quirks, but they are really just a part of her charm, or so her Father used to tell her before he went away. Yet, even when she gets close to people, she has a part of herself that she keeps private. She is secretive, though that is not necessarily a conscious decision. If anything, it is a force of habit, one adapted from both of her parents throughout her formative years.
She has a lot of self doubt, most of which has been instilled into her over the past year and a half since her Father was taken away and her Mother began acting strange whenever she was around. She isn't sure what she did, or how she could have pushed her Mother away so far in such a short amount of time, and it has left her constantly questioning herself and what she is capable of. That pride and self worth she used to have something she always got from her Father and something that was stolen away, just as he was.
Mentality:
A curious person who is inquisitive about the world and about herself. She is always striving to become more, even if she doesn't know how or what that will entail. She yearns to belong, to be a part of something meaningful, and is constantly trying to find her place in the world.
Ideal:
"There is more to who I am, I just need to figure out what it is."
Belief:
Uncertain - She was raised Catholic, but with the recent events of her past, she has begun to question her faith. Though she still wears her rosary every day, be it out of habit or out of some desperate desire to hold onto a moment in time when things were normal.
Physical Information
Build/Description:
She is petite, standing at only five feet, one inch in height and weighing only one-hundred and fifteen pounds. She has long red hair that extends down past her waist, usually worn up in a ponytail or a messy bun atop her head. She has delicate features, with very soft and inviting eyes which are a unique mixture of amber and chestnut. (An old woman once told her that she had bedroom eyes, though she never really understood what that meant.) She is trim and fit, mostly due to her running and climbing. She is rather active for what some would term a "bookworm", even if nobody really knows that about her.
Defining Marks:
Kadya has a scar across her back, one that runs from her right shoulder to just below her left ribs. She also has several small scars on her hands, mostly from playing with knives. Tattoo on her upper left arm.
History Information
History: Born sixteen years ago in a small town on the coast of Florida, Kadya was what most would consider a normal, happy, healthy child. From an early age she showed that she was not only smart, but that she was talented as well, picking up various tasks and mastering them rather easily.
Hands down, her Father, Matthew Lewis, was her idol. She looked up to him from as early on as she can remember and everything she did was done in an attempt to make him proud. It was a feat that was never hard to accomplish, as he loved her dearly and never missed an opportunity to dote on the child. Her Mother, Hanna Marwood-Lewis, was much the same. She was a bit distant, given how close Kadya was with her Father, but she still loved the girl and made sure to show her such whenever she could.
Everything changed, however, when the gunfire broke through the silent night air. Their house was under attack, or so she believed as she ran and hid in her closet, then just a girl of fourteen. It was what her Father had always taught her to do, and it was a lesson she had held onto without so much as a single question as to why he would want her to memorize such a thing.
There she hid, until the silence once more fell over the house, only to be broken once more as violent yelling from her Father erupted into the air. Shaking, unsure of what to do, her hand grasped at the doorknob to her closet, but she froze. He had told her to always stay put, and so she did, even as the sound of other men began to filter through the particle board door, followed closely by her Mother's screams and broken, breathless sobs.
It was only later that Kadya would discover the ugly truth about the man she had idolized so long. Her father, Matthew Earl Lewis, was a murderer, and had been for some time. In fact, his first murder had been committed long before he ever met Hanna or even thought of having Kadya.
The knowledge of this shook Kadya to her very core, drawing into question every single thing she had ever believed about her life, and about herself. By the time it was all over, by the time her Mother had packed them up and moved them far, far away, changing their last name in the process, Kadya was lost and struggling to find something, anything, to hold onto.
Even now, settled into yet another new home and preparing to start another new school, Kadya is still searching. She has yet to find her place, as the only place she truly knew was stolen from her that night.
Her Mother refuses to allow Kadya any form of contact with her Father, and any time the past catches up to them, they are forced to move. This has led, in large, to the secretive side that the young teen has. It was always there, even if she didn't realize it until all was said and done, but now it is something that is almost like a code of ethics to her. She doesn't want to move again. She doesn't want to have to start all over in some new place, some new home that isn't really her home at all.
Add to that, the fact that her Mother has been behaving more and more distant and cold over the past year, and Kadya is truly a lost soul, spending more and more time away from home whenever possible. Afterall, it is hard to go home when it is just another place you feel like an outsider who really isn't welcome.
