It was about seven-eight at night in Los Angeles. Of course Keith's been to Los Angeles a few times, but he had never thought that he would transfer to a school that was like a school that he had gone to in NYC called 552. But then again, nobody really knew him at 552. He wouldn't expect anybody to know him here at 259. That was the way he wanted it to be.
The environment was pretty new to him. While New York was hard compared to Los Angeles being soft. However, New York wasn't that bad compared to the crime rate in Los Angeles. Los Angeles was pretty much the epicenter of everything that's wrong in the world let alone in the United States.
You had your gangs, your various mobs(Russian, Italian, Yakuza, Triad, etc), drug cartels, rapists, murderers, etc. Los Angeles happened to be the birthplace of two of the biggest gangs in the United States: Crips and the Bloods.
But then again, statistics show that the crime rate in Los Angeles had lowered dramatically.
Though good things about California was that there was going to be universal healthcare, one of the redeeming things that the Governator had done so far. There's always been getting into college for free which is one of the reasons for the high sales tax.
The economy of Los Angeles was pretty strong. Los Angeles is what is known as a "global city." LA's economy is driven by international trade, entertainment, aerospace engineering, fashion, tourism, etc. A good number of video game developers are headquarted in the SoCal area.
SoCal was where most of the celebrities hung out. But that didn't concern Keith yet.
Right now, he was getting adjusted to the change of environment. Doing so, Keith was in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles at one of the sushi bars. Yes, Keith enjoyed his sushi. It's been about two months since Keith has had some very good sushi with extra soy sauce and wasabi. Keith definitely enjoyed his wasabi along with a side of hot sake.
He was trying to enjoy himself. Keith wasn't too keen on leaving his friends and other people behind. If he could, he'd write them a letter. But then again, he claims that nobody really knew him and vice-versa. So, he'd just leave it at that.
In front of Keith were dishes of sushi. One of them was a Philadephia roll consisting of smoked salmon, cream cheese, cucumbers, and onions. It was one of his favorite rolls of sushi.
Guiding his chopsticks, Keith picked up one of the pieces and dipped it into the small dipping plate that contained a mixture of soy sauce and wasabi before placing it in his mouth. Man, did that taste good.
"Mmmm, that tasted bloody good," Keith said to himself with a thick English accent. He looked up to the sushi chef and asked, "can I get a negihara?"
The sushi chef nodded.
"Arigato," Keith replied.
