"I will admit, I am excited to see just how good with a blade he is. It has been several years since I have had cause to take up a blade. It will be nice to stretch those muscles."

"Speaking of, we should probably pick you out a blade."
Weigrif would lead Eric to an armory of sorts. People toiling away at a forge. Sets of blades, sheaths, bucklers and the like sitting around.
"What's your poison?"

"I'm adaptable. I prefer a one-handed blade. But assuming the boy wield's Excalibur then the most important function is the blade's ability to withstand a clash without breaking."
He would set about examining the blades.
"Does the young man use a shield? I wish to match his style for a fair test."

"No, his Father did, but he says they slow him down and are bulky making him off balance and clumsy."
Weigrif would sift around the armory a bit before coming across a straight blade. Placing it down on a table, before sifting some more. A curved blade would also be placed on the table. The straight blade had a cross guard and was sharp on both sides, where the curved was sharp on one side, had a round guard and what seemed like a serrated edge.
"I suspect we have time for customizing. Should be a simple matter to make them able to withstand Excalibur's strikes."

"Then I shall go without a shield as well."
He didn't overly care for them anyway.
"Customization implies ownership? Am I to assume that if the blade and I survive this I'll be taking it with me?"
A smug smirk tugged at his lips. That could be fun.

"My Liege Lord has code terms for things. As he stated Adequate he meant one of your own. Something you would be proud to hold. I suspect it a gift of sorts for your deeds and excitement for the fight."
Weigrif was assuming however at the second half. He had no doubt as to the first portion though.

"I see. Well your Lord is most generous."
He'd run a finger over the straight blade. He was more prone to western styled blades over those or Arabic regions. Though he'd admit the curved blade had a certain beauty to it.
"It may be obvious, but I am quite partial to dragons. If an Eastern style Dragon could be etched along the hilt or blade in time for the battle I would not be displeased."

"It will be done then."
With hat the forge workers would get to work as Weigrif took Eric to the barracks.
"It won't be long. Eat, relax, I'll fetch you when it's time."

"Thank you. Your hospitality is quite heartwarming."
He would follow him to the barracks where he'd locate a cot to take a seat at.
"I would rather eat after the match if it is all the same."
He fought better when he wasn't full.
"But I shall use the time to reflect and relax."
Kind of...

Eric would be left to his own devices.

Once he was alone he'd pull out the Phase One prototype the Soldier had dropped during their fight. He was curious as to what it was, he suspected it had to have some value other than monetary. And given the Prota society's obsession with Qi, he assumed that was a good place to start. He'd hold the object in his hand and quiet his mind, slowly pouring his Qi energy into it, carefully probing it to try and get an idea of what it did, or how it might react.

The thing would actually feel hollow, empty much like his Jade Dragon, however, he could not fill it. Eric would find it actively rejecting his Qi.

That was curious. He'd push more in, trying to overpower it with a less careful probe.

It very much did not wish to accept any of his Qi. However, it did seem to tickle at the core of his energy, like it wanted his very being.

An even more curious feeling. And a dangerous one too. Something that wanted more than his energy but his being? Well, that feeling could mean several things. He'd slowly pry one hand away and bring it to his mouth, slicing his thumb with his front teeth so that he could smear a small amount of blood on the object. A test to see if it reacted.
