History:
It was a normal life. I was normal. Everything in my world was normal. Anything in it that had even a hair out of line was immediately obliviated. I had a husband, Timothy. I had kids, Jaden and Rachael. I had a loving family. I had a small quaint house on the edge of the village. I had two Jack Russell Terriers, Leroy and Matthew. Everything was normal.
Out of nowhere, the sirens blew and my normal life was thrown into chaos. Within minutes uniformed men in black suits, not unlike military, stormed into our house and all of our neighbors houses. They threw a single set of clothing into a bag for each person in my family and shoved us all into the back of a van. About a half hour later, we stopped and the door opened. The men pulled us out and placed us in a bomb shelter. Above us we headed the sounds of the bombs dropping and the villages being destroyed. We stayed there for three weeks. Slowly the sounds faded and it was silent. My husband volunteered to go out first. He had no more than opened the door when the gas hit him and he began, instantly, screaming crazily and tearing at his face, ripping the flesh from his bones. My kids were the first he got to. They weren't barely scratched before I was on my husband with a pipe I pulled from the wall. He barely flinched as the pipe made contact with his shoulder. He slowly turned his head to me. "Told you to keep out of the way, Woman." His voice was dry and scratchy. I raised the pipe again, but before I could bring it down his hand shot out and grasped my throat. The pipe fell from my hands as he threw me back against the wall. The last sound I heard was my kids screaming together and the vision of my husband bounding forward on all fours as if he were an animal.
My vision went white and a low voice sounded to my right. It's the same as last time. She isn't learning. I don't think the treatments are working. Maybe we should-- He was cut off by a louder angry sounding man. If you say we should stop the treatments one more time Doctor, I'll have you tested next. Perhaps you think you'll make for a better subject? No? Then keep your mouth shut and do your job. There was a quiet Yes ... Sir before a door opened and the voice louder again. Run the tests again. Up the dosage by thirst CCs.... No, I said thirty.... It isn't enough to make a difference.... Just do it. Now. Footsteps followed by a door creaking shut. Then. small female voice. I'm sorry I have to do this. It won't hurt for long. I promise. Something poked my arm. It kind of hurt, but it didn't bother me. Burning. A horrible pain coursing through my veins. Screaming. It was up my arm now. Another poke in my other arm. I knew what was coming. Burning. Worse now. Another poke in my neck. My head burned like nothing I have EVER felt. Too hot, but I couldn't dig it out. I needed it to stop. IT HAD TO STOP! Another scream, louder than before, but somehow different. This one wasn't me. Female. Were they doing it to her too? The scream gurgled and died out. What happened? It worked.... IT WORKED! The serum worked, Doctor! Did you see what she did? She's amazing! Experiment two-five-eight didn't even touch her. The angry man continued as I opened my eyes. A red film seemed to have descended over my face. My vision was red. The man I presumed to be the Doctor noticed me standing and moving and made to run into an adjacent room. Closing and locking the door behind him he turned on the speaker. You may want to turn around Mister Serus. It seems Experiment two-five-eight has found a way to tame her abilities and has escaped her bindings. By this time I had already gotten off the table and had come up behind him. This was his fault. I was a monster because of him. My voice sounded deep and dark. It couldn't have been me right? You thought it wise to give someone powers you could not control yourself? Great idea. I felt something tingle in the back lower part of my brain and the man's head crushed, sending blood, brains, and skull fragments everywhere. His body collapsed to the ground. I stared at it for another minute before turning to the man in the room. Open the door. Let me go and I'll let you live. It wasn't a request. It was a demand. Both of us knew there was nothing he could do to stop me. There was a buzzing sound followed by a hissing. The wall to my right opened to reveal a rocky cliff. I looked back to the Doctor and smiled, leaped from the cliff and disappeared out of sight.
I found I was different now. No one accepted me for what I was now. I was different. strange. Dangerous. Not long after that, I found Public High School Five-Five-Two. Here there was an entire school filled with other like me. I belonged here. In a sort of way it was like finding a new family. I stayed a year before I could not deny that I needed something more. I was a mere nurse. I needed to do more. I needed to be useful. I needed a place to really fit in. The head councilor suggested a new school called Cabal Academy. It was less of a school and more of a Military Installation. I fit here much more easily.
