Her steps along the sidewalk were nice and slow. The bright green orbs took in everything around her. Sure, it wasn't LA, but it was Cali...and it was good to be back in her home state. She had left here....a little over four years ago. The hell that had been 552 had shaped her, made her a different person so many times Kate McHallin had almost forgotten who she had been. A girl with a simple dream, and a love for music.
Her black high heeled boots clicked on the hard cement, her slender hands stuffed into her dark green jacket pockets. Military ranks were on the upper arms of the cloth, but other than that it was a simple jacket. She wore a white tank top beneath that, and a short dark green skirt. A black studded belt was around her waist, and a black purse's strap on her shoulder. Her long blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail at the nape of her neck.
When she had left this place, the blonde would have screamed about wearing skirts...or high heels...or carrying a purse. The thought brought a slight smile to her glossed lips. Her large eyes closed and she simply chuckled. Maybe here, she could forget everything and just be... herself.
She walked on the sidewalk until it took her to the park. She hadn't been to a park in ages. Too many business details to handle, too much school to work on, so much cheer leading routines to fix. Back at 552, she had been cheer leading captain "outliving" three coaches. What would they do without her?
Her feet stepped firmly on the soft grass, making her way slowly to a bench. Sunny Cali...it would be so different from New York. Sitting down, her bright green eyes taking in the park. Some little kids were playing off to the side. A little smile appeared, only to be replaced with a frown.
Children were the offspring of love. Love was something she had thought she had gained so many times...only to have it shatter along with her soul. She felt so cold, and dirty every single time she thought about any of the men she had fallen for. About how many of them had just...vanished.
Setting her purse beside her, the blonde tried to control her emotions. With so many flowing through her it was hard. Rage, depression, confusion...the list went on. Where the hell had some of them gone? And what the hell had she seen in the rest?
Sighing once again, the young woman merely rolled her shoulders and reopened her eyes. That's when she noticed it. Her purse was gone. Standing up quickly, her sharp eyes scanned the area. And...bingo! Two boys were running as fast as they could through the park, her black purse clutched in one's hands.
Kate took off at top speed, despite her heels. And despite her skirt, she jumped over whatever need be to get to her target. They would not get away, and they would not be too healthy when she was done with them.
"GET THE HELL BACK HERE!!!!"

"Mr. Jacobs, Mr. Jacobs, we managed to get you some valuable stuff!"
A loud kid voice screamed, and both of Jacob's eyes looked at what they had. It was a purse, the other one was screaming about how the girl was chasing them, and catching up, all Jacob did was smirk at this. He grabbed the purse, then told them to run along, he would scold them later, the last thing he expected was for random kids he wanted to get away from him actually resorting to stealing to make him happy. Of course, it didn't make him happy, it just made him more aggravated, but he wasn't going to just explode in front of the kids, he didn't do that.
"Just my luck, now she is going to think I'm some weird freak or something. Still, I guess I need to get this over with."
At the moment, Jacob couldn't tell who it was, but she was closing in. Another question was, would she recognized the oddly conveniently placed Ghiste who now went by Jacob standing at the park with her purse in a very awkward situation? Either way, he was ready to give it to her, that is if she didn't get hasty, and attempted to kill him before he could extend the purse up to the charging pursuer.
"She looks pretty familiar... but the chances are too low, no way it can be her! Could it? Gah, I just need to focus on getting the purse back to her, and managing to pull through the awkward moment that is soon to fall over me."

The purse exchanged hands, and Kate stopped. Her bright green eyes glared at the one in front of her, ignoring everything but the fact he had her purse. Her cell phone was in there, her wallet, all her information, AND her favorite lip gloss. There was no way in hell she'd let him go easily.
All she did was hold out her hand. If he handed it over without a word, she might just walk away. If he didn't...well a high heel to some nads would make most men fall over weeping. Her bright green orbs kept up the glare, staring daggers at him.
He had something to do with the kids. Had to. They handed it over too easily. A gang member or something. An older brother maybe, but there was something...fimilar about the guy. Kate ignored that, shoving it away mentally. She didn't care.

Jacob handed the purse over to her, smiling innocently, he didn't have any reason for having it. Of course, he was going to justify what just happened, he didn't want to be known as a purse theif who had little kids do his bidding! No way, he wasn't like that, and he never would be like that!
"Sorry about them, I truly have no idea why the did that, Kate."
"Wait, Kate? Is that even her name? Bah, well she looks like a woman named Kate I used to know, so why not take the risk?"
Still having that innocent grin, and holding back the urge of letting awkwardness just sink in with him walking away, he decided he would let the conversation push forward. He would be getting the facts about rather he was right or not soon though, after all, he could read minds, and it wasn't like he could just turn that power off! The thoughts just sort of flowed into his head, and he had a feeling it would be the same with her, thus why he would soon find out if he got the name right. He already found that his groin was in danger though, and trust me, he gave an occasional untrusting glance at this person's legs every once and awhile.

Both pale brows lifted. How did he know her name? Her eyes were startled for a moment before they returned to a glare. Kate had gotten her favorite lip gloss--er, purse. But now, she wanted more. She wanted to know how the hell he knew her name. Her eyes were still glaring death as she spoke.
"How the hell do you know my name?"
She wasn't anything like she had been freshman year when they had started to date. Nor anything like a year ago when they had run from the hallway patrol laughing as hard as they could. She had changed, and he had. The fact that his face was familiar was irritating. Annoying really. Making her a little more dangerous. Maybe not to him, if she just knew his name. If everything would just click in her mind. But for now, after her information was given, Kate was considering smashing his face in the ground. It seemed fun.

"Yep, it's her, but damn talk about a weird coincidence."
Jacob thought simply, giving a nice little smirk over at her question, as well as the thoughts she was having. It was always entertaining to see how different people went about things, but he had seriously figured the puzzle out. He was a bit quicker than most, reading minds always was a plus too, especially on tests, so he managed to have better than average scores on pretty much anything, including real life situations.
Besides that though! After a few seconds of letting a silence, obviously him trying to find the best way to look about this situation, he would explain himself.
"Oh, nothing really, I'm just a weird stalker guy who makes his prey previous girl friends he originally had."
He tried to make it as sarcastic as possible, and of course cruel and witty, after all, that was sort of what happened when they first met, right? He couldn't remember all the details, but he knew they started off on the wrong foot and actually fought. Then worse came to worse, Jacob accidentally calling her Katey, and somehow sweet talked his way out of it causing the two of them to skip class together. Yeah, why not try his best to replay the old love scene of theirs to an extent? It gave him something to do.

"Oh, nothing really, I'm just a weird stalker guy who makes his prey previous girl friends he originally had."
What? She hadn't dated anyone here in Cali! It took the blonde several moments staring at his face to completely recall what the hell he was doing. Both her eyebrows shot up, bright green eyes going wide.
"Ghister?"
She had to go down the list of ex's in order to really place it. Back wards of course, so Ghiste being the first boyfriend ever, was last. The pale woman put her purse on her shoulder with a little confused smile. It was nice to see him, for sure, but what the hell was he doing here? Kate had moved here to get away from everyone she had known. What happened to that plan?

"Yep!"
Jacob said with a satisfied grin at her finally remembering what he looked like. He didn't see how she could of forgotten, but then again, Jacob had a longer lasting memory than most. He could remember bunches of stuff, but it was still weird seeing people he knew from the past flood into his life again. It was like all of his previous contacts were all moving to where he was, and Public High School #552 didn't even exist anymore. What was going around up at that place anyways? He knew he had been gone for awhile, but has a bomb exploded in there or something now? He just didn't know.
"So am I one good damned stalker, or what?"
Yes, he was keeping the joke up, after all, but he gave a nice little wink so she didn't think he was telling the truth or something at the moment. Now Jacob, he was more like the way he was when they first began dating than how he was after they broke up, it was like he was going in a circle due to male hormones or something. To be honest, that meant that he was probably going to remind her of the long haired, smoking, always got into fights, and had an incredibly huge ego Ghiste. Of course, he kept some of the extremely nasty habbits, but the ego was back, ever since he escaped from all of his troubles.
Anyways, now that they had figured out who each other was, he was assuming this was when bonding time to see what has been up lately would soon come.

A laugh escaped her lips. He had always been able to make her laugh. Always. Had been there for her when she had cried too. A smile was on her lips. If he was here, well then, it'd be cool. She pushed a few strands of blonde hair back behind an ear.
"A very good stalker indeed. Didn't think to find you here at all."
The blonde relaxed. She'd ask him about the kids and the purse sooner or later. Her mind had already come to a few conculsions... but this being Ghiste... she could put them off. He was more like the old Ghiste...and the blonde liked that. He was more...friendly? Happy? She couldn't put a word to it at the moment.

Giving a chuckle at her little comment, Jacob brushed a few bits of hair falling into his bangs out of the way to let a good view of his entire face to be seen by Kate. He still let his charming white teeth show in the form of a smile, and he took a few seconds to respond to what she said.
"Well, the same could be said about you. Still, now you got good ol' Ghiste able to protect ya again!"
Jacob said with a wink, it has been a long time since he had actually called himself Ghiste. It just sort of spat out, but hey, he would tell her about his little name change later, if he ever got the urge to... He preferred his last name over his strange first name, but some people he just didn't mind calling him it, Kate was one of those people he supposed.

She chuckled slightly, but not because she found it funny. Because she was sad Ghiste thought he needed to protect her. Even though it could almost sound like a joke...Kate wouldn't take it like one. She didn't want to depend on him.
Her hand shot out to pat him on the shoulder, a sweet little smile on her glossed lips. Ghiste had tried to protect her once, when they were both younger...and weaker. When they had been dating. The end result hadn't been pretty at all for him. Not at all. Her eyes were almost sad.
"I don't want you to ever protect me again. I don't want to see you...hurt again Ghiste."
It had hurt her badly then. So badly she had broken up with him, hoping that if Mayoko had ever gone back after her...Ghiste wouldn't have gotten hurt at all. He was...too good for something like that. Kate didn't want any of her friends getting hurt. Ever.
Ghiste had been the first to take a blow for her. And the only one she could ever really remember. Xaier had tried to once... if she remembered, but they had both been dragged into an "event" that hadn't gone right. Besides, hadn't he wanted to fight that guy anyways? No...Ghiste had protected her as best as he could then, been the only one to do it just for her and not a group of people. She wouldn't let him repeat it, wouldn't let him get hurt.

"Aw... you don't need to worry about me."
Jacob said blushing a bit, and backing off a few feet from a bit of embarrassment at what she had just done. He didn't like being reminded about how weak he was back in the past, he was stronger now, and even thinking about the battles he lost back when he was young put him in shame. Of course, not many people remember those days of Jacob, most of the people see him, and instantly think of success, not even bothering to look at the paths he had to take to get there.
Anyways, after that little display, Jacob would give a smirk, and let his chin rise up, both of his eyes hoping to meet both of hers in a dramatic like effect.
"Besides, unlike before, I actually plan on being a helpful hand this time around."

Kate couldn't help but chuckle. She had grown stronger since those days, and she was more likely to defend her self. Less in need of some one to watch her back, though the blonde wanted to be stronger still. Be better than she was.
"Not so clumsy? Oh wait, that's right. That was me."
Kate laughed now. The first time they had met, it had because Kate had tripped into him. After waking up late, and trying to get to her class on time. She smiled, and even though it didn't reach her eyes, it was a true smile. No smiles reached her bright eyes anymore.
"But if you plan on being helpful...I guess that's something totally different...right?"

"Depends on the situation."
Jacob said simply, before letting his eyes divert over toward the two kids who had stolen her purse previously. They were hiding behind a near by tree staring at them, and Jacob cracked a smile over at the two youngsters who were so obsessed with him. It was weird, Jacob went to one of his friend's brother's party one day, and suddenly all the kids fell in love with him. It was like he had this natural charismatic charm that made people from all sorts of area attracted to him, at least that was the case when it came to him not being a total ass hole, after all, Jacob did live a double life to a certain extent.
The kids quickly ran off seeing that Jacob noticed him, and that was when Jacob returned his charming stare right back toward Kate, the light hearted smile still spread across his lips.
"You still going to school, Kate?"
Jacob was just wondering, he was actually held back a year due to the whole "rape" issues he had to endure a long time ago, and had completely forgotten just how much younger Kate was than him. There for, he had no idea rather she was a senior, or what exactly was going on. Even he was forgetful to some extent.
