From Aether to Earth

[Onides Une]

Oni noticed her gesture and started walking that way. "A couple of years really but I hardly am within the meta of combat like some others." Now that that was out of the way she wasn't rejected so she felt a little more relaxed even while shoving her notebooks in a light backpack. "I map out terra and devise battle plans in my spare time." The normal-sounding way she tells mapping out dungeons and DM plots for her tabletop group.

"What brings you here now?" Maybe it was none of her business but after an entrance like that and a legacy suddenly appearing it wasn't every day this happened.

David turned to the aforementioned teifling and offered the smallest of smiles, dipping his head in a slight bow.

"Thank you. The books exaggerate, I am sure."

They did, but they under-exaggerated. Leon killed easily three times the official number in the war. He'd come close to doing the same. The dark roots missions were...still, he'd stand straight and let the two talk, looking to Arianna after a moment.

"I'll meet you in the medical center in an hour or two. Please, excuse me."

He'd turn and take his leave, allowing this demoness and Arianna get to know each other more.

"That's not a bad thing," Arianna mentioned, casting a sidelong glance at the student. "Especially when a job like yours can save lives."

Ah, yes, maybe this would be a beneficial meeting for them both, but, depending on where Oni was with her sense of self and self-worth in relation to the Academy, perhaps her running into Arianna wasn't a bad thing. Non-Combat wasn't a bad thing. The question had her drawing a soft breath...considering how best to answer, with David receiving nothing more than an abrupt nod.

"Well, I seem to have a new power that needs honing, and it's...a bloodline trait, apparently. My sister has...had it as well." Her shoulders moved in a slight shrug, "And I've got other reasons to be here, like joining the medical team. What do you think of the Academy? I'm unfamiliar with it."

She waved goodbye at David Blaze, she had already geeked out at him on her first day alongside the Leon the more brutal of the two was debatable depending on each of their triggers. Collected as Blaze might be he'd leave a path of devastation but Leon had a shorter fuse and threw his temper out more frequently. But they saved lives in the same manner.

Oni knew who she meant by the sister Kyrie, Oni knew some about her but it was in passing. minor mention here and minimal mention there. Not a super flashy hero but she wiggled her way out of so much Oni would have described her as "Kyrie the Untouchable" Oni wouldn't say anything though seeing the look in Arianna's eye it was apparent maybe talking about it was not the greatest idea. Still, a new power Oni would find a moment in the conversation for sure to ask about it!

But she asked Oni about how she liked Cabal. "I like it alright, I am kind of here because I was asked to come. My Dad and I agreed to each other that keeping Opportunities open was going to be the only way to move forward. Otherwise, I'd be at home making sure he is eating well and not heartbroken after leaving home." She waved away the drama with a red hand. "I've met lots of good people and they take care of us here. When a call is made many jump at the chance to find their own glory."

"That's good, then. I find myself curious about being asked to come versus it being mandatory...considering that part in particular is why I'm here."

The rest was easy to nod at as they ventured on forwards. She didn't know what else to say at the moment, just that...she was relieved to be away from David as much as she was relieved for the distraction Oni represented. The past sure liked to rear its ugly head. Maybe now she knew how Kyrie felt a bit more upon seeing her appear again, alive.

"So...apparently I'm in 280."

"Hm... the Second floor for sure, we'll take the elevator." She pointed to it as they headed that way. "I know on that floor there are a couple of noisy Qi users. Hopefully, you won't be within earshot of any of them."

She'd go and press the button to call for the elevator itself. "Hm... well at least the food is good and the beds are nice. Classes are good and there is a lot of different types to test your strengths and hone your weaknesses."

"It may not matter much if I'm holed up in the infirmary twenty-four-seven...but for whatever time I'm back here, I hope not as well." She stepped in as the doors dinged open, not paying any exiting the elevator mind aside from waiting for a moment for their disembarking. The elevator ride was short, thankfully, and a plaque on the wall showed her which way to turn.

Like a hotel from what seemed like ages ago.

"Yup, I keep tabs on some people. So if you need anything or are looking for someone I'd be happy to help ya until all gets pretty settled." Meaning she liked to watch and record what times people were in certain places in order to collect her information log of Nerdom? Yes, that be what it means. To Oni her hobby was (mostly) informational but she did really enjoy it (a lot). It was inspirational to debates, storytelling, and overall it would be really good to know your opponents and comrades in the field at least that was how she eventually saw it as. Arianna seemed to have the directions from here, Oni just hung back at that moment and let her go about it all.

That...that would be beneficial, Arianna decided.

It didn't take long for her to realize that Oni stopped; and so the blonde paused as well and looked back with her head quirked just the slightest bit.

"Come on, Oni, you don't have to stay behind. I need a few minutes in my room but you're welcome to come along." So long as she came along Arianna would ponder over how truthful and informative she should be, and then decided that it didn't really do her any favours to try and hide it for it wasn't going to be something to sweep under the rug. "I'm also here, not only because I've a new power that has developed, but I'm also doing some evaluations on the effectiveness of Cabal and its supervisors. I could do with knowing more about the people here, among other things."

She couldn't help but grin tail perking up excitedly. But hearing her motive Oni would be happy to help in that department.

"Well, they keep us safe, I mean... good thing you were not here a couple of days ago some people are still recovering from the scorpion attacking the city. It was pretty devastating to the territory... some Cabal members are still recovering. So many were quick to action and reduced the damage and saved as many as possible."

Arianna nodded a little bit, not outright denying they kept things safe, but the disaster essentially spoke for itself. She wouldn't begrudge these younger men and women over saving what lives they could - because that's all she could expect them to do, in the end, considering they weren't God - and putting a negative spin on what they were trying to accomplish. David's appearance in her life, however unfortunate, brought some massive and unresolved feelings to the surface regarding him and his brother...and her sister.

Maybe it wasn't his fault, but she still blamed him in part.

"I'd imagine it won't be the last... Do you know why it attacked?"

Oni shook her head to answer that question. "Mr. Blaze put up a post for volunteers to investigate the matter. Likely it means they will be heading out to get that kind of answer soon." Still, Oni had some thoughts on the matter herself. "Qi beasts are getting pretty smart it is no wonder that when people still treat them like vermin and shoo them away it doesn't sit well. When you poke a beehive you are going to expect them to start rioting."

"Are the volunteers closed, now? I may not be the best person to go afield, but...it sounds like there's something more to this."

Arianna nodded, thoughtfully, opening up her room and pulling her case inside. As far as rooms went...it was standard. So she tucked the case off to the side near the foot of her bed and then sat down, looking back at Oni.

"You're not wrong."

"The mission might most likely be full they go pretty fast from my experience." She placed a fist on her hip and leaned to one side. "I am actually pretty glad you agree, I kind of route for the little guys and the outcasts you see. Which is why I thought it was a good thing to hear it was an investigation rather than eradication. I thought about going myself but I am really not one to handle myself well on the front lines." She shrugged. For someone like her who is a load of smiles, her confidence in herself lacks what it needs to face an opponent head-on. Cowardice... maybe, but it isn't like she does absolutely nothing she has skills in other areas that are more behind the scenes or otherwise. The strategy is where she prides herself.

"Every individual have their own strengths and weaknesses, and there's no shame in not being as effective on the front lines... If it's a confidence issue that can be worked on."

Her legs stretched out, one after another, before she crossed them at her ankles.

"Tell me a bit more of yourself? Where are you from?"
