From Aether to Earth

Oni tilted her brow at the woman who would ask her more personal question and things Oni just decided to pull up a desk chair and perch herself in it.

"Um... I'm from here... 259 I mean. I grew up living modestly with my Dad mostly. My mom was a strong and famous hero for the territory and my Dad was her sponsor in their younger years. She as always busy with work and Dad sold his business for a great sum. He stayed home with me while I went through my normie years. In this day an age, most get their Qi near the beginning of their teenage years, mine came a bit late." She shrugged at the fact of it all. "Dad wanted me to go to Cabal so that all my options would be open when my dreams become a reality."

Well that was fairly interesting. Arianna blinked a few times before nodding, here and there, just to show she was engaged with the topic.

"That's interesting. Who was your mother..?"

If nothing else, the conversation had derailed all the emotions that came with seeing David again, albeit a thinner version. And apparently one that had no recollection of anything aside from his brother.

"If you don't know her by name she had a very beautiful prismatic force field Qi." Oni made a big circle with her hands. "She was pretty too... she could plant a bubble inside a person and grow it till they... you know. Or create one to trap a person and... you know." she just shrugged and pressed her lips into a thin line kind of just realizing her mother was slightly violent in a point of view. "Mostly she used her power to contain and shield people and fragile cargo from the enemies. but she got famous for her esthetic, flexibility, and wide skill set."

((OCC: Oni's mother is not canon just to be clear. Basically an NPC I've created.))

Interesting. The information did ring some bells, but she wasn't quite so versed in the who's who of the War. Kyrie probably would know, but Kyrie was MIA at best, dead at worst.

"Hmm...I recall hearing about that qi but I'm not the most familiar with all the names." She gave a soft smile, reassuring. "All that matters to me is that you're here for the right reasons and doing what's right for everyone, and following moral and ethical guidelines."

Her shoulders moved.

Oni beamed a smile the kind words moved her in a way that made her feel slightly giddy and embarrassingly so. She flushed bringing a bashful hand to scratch the base of. Her horns.

"Means quite a bit hearing that. I dont get much praise unless I am calling home to Dad. I've been a bit slacky here at Cabal as well keeping my nose in books rather than jock up in the training field." that was her own choice made of course. She wasn't like her mother or after some goal to be the greatest, strongest, fastest, etc. But she felt even that was okay with Arianna's kindness.

Oni was adorable, it was solidly decided. Nobody and nothing could ever change her mind. But it was nice to see her bloom at the praise, anyway. Perhaps she hadn't had much of it, which was more or less confirmed immediately afterward.

"Everyone deserves praise for the things they're doing right. Maybe your start is slower, or not quite with what's considered the norm, but you're here and working on things, no?" A pale brow arched with the question. In truth she was speaking to herself with this conversation, too, despite her reluctance to be here.

"Oh I am like a walking encyclopedia." She counted on her fingers as she spoke the list. "People, places, Qi variations, cultures... I've read up on many things hoping any little bit of useless information actually becomes useful." she chuckled.

"Knowledge is power when applied." Arianna's lips remained curved upward. "Your knowledge is valuable if you can find ways to help everyone make the most of every part of their strengths while trying to neutralize their weaknesses overall."

Oni would nod. "Exactly! Such a jockey oriented Academy doesn't seem to get that!" Her outburst was unintentional and a bit loud she clapped both hands over her mouth. grinning beneath her reddish palms. "I get excited... just a little..." she joked a bit.

She lowered them as a moment of curiosity hit. "You said something about some new ability that came about. How did that happen and how does it work?"

"Don't ever apologise for being true to yourself and who you are. It's wonderful and refreshing to see someone so openly excited." It was more or less a balm for her.

The question had her sobering a bit and she exhaled slowly.

"Well, I'll explain rather than show, as I don't always have the best control." Arianna rocked back slightly before straightening. "It's...a bloodline qi, actually. My sister has it, and apparently I do as well. I have blades attached to...they look like chains, I suppose, and they sprout from my back, the spine. It manifested not too long ago, when I managed to find myself in a stressful and dangerous situation."

She crossed her arms and pondered the information. "So they came about as normal Qi would manifest itself. Bloodline Qi's are interesting other than they pass through genetics they behave the same as spontaneous Qi. Makes it hard to predict what gets passed down and what doesn't..." her face twisted at what she was about to say. "It is a growing practice these days that once someone finds a bloodline Qi they prep themselves for breeding with other bloodlines... quite disturbing in some cases."

"I've heard of that. Yes, it can be quite disturbing, but I suppose it may increase the chances of a bloodline qi manifesting if two people with theirs being active were to have children. But...the sorts of programs you're hinting at are deplorable at best."

There had been reports of at least one institution being...less than stellar and needing to be shut down because people were forced to reproduce. She didn't doubt there were more.

Still it was neat that she'd have such a notable ability Oni and her family could have been likely spared a lot of heart ache if only she shared her mother's Qi. That might not be completely true concidering who her mother was but you never know. And hindsight is 20/20; meaning it is done and over with and not much you can do about it.

"Maybe I'll just hope I have a useful Qi." she shrugged with a slight grin. "So far walking through walls is fitting the bill I cant complain even if I look like some haunted house attraction.

A pale brow lifted, though a smile remained on her lips and in her voice. "That sounds useful."

She nodded to arianna. "It comes in handy in a way all I have to do is watch where I step."
