So that happened (Avice)

He glanced down at the paper again, and back up at the door.

She'd saved his life, at the cost of limbs. He'd tried to find strength in himself by fighting Leon, and sported a sling and bandages all over from the attempt. She had sacrificed for the team in a way he'd hope to, some day. And she didn't even seem to have the attachment to this place that he did. What could he say, or how could he repay her for it? He was certain she'd say no, but it was on him and he already had in mind what he wanted for the future. To make up for what she lost.

Standing outside Avice Locke 's room in the dorms, he'd sigh before giving a little knock.

[Avice Locke]

She'd been sleeping as something has awoken with her making her feel similar to ghosts in the walls. She felt someone coming but was a bit too asleep to make note for it the knocking however. Her eyes shot open and she rubbed them with the only hand she could.

"Aye, Come on in." her foreign accent grumbly from sleep. She finally saw the face as the fellow she slammed into in the scorpion battle. She'd not have an air to here that seemed particularly gleeful. She hardly knew the guy except by name. But at the current point she didn't harbor any reason to dislike him any more than the blokes coming in here for sickleave over a cold.

As he entered, his eyes glossed over her location, then the room. It was like, nine in the morning. Who slept at nine? He'd stuff the paper in his pocket and swallow.

"Ah, sorry. You were sleeping. I can come back later, if you'd prefer...."

He'd gesture at the door.

She threw up a hand to dismiss his suggestion. "Nah I only sleep just make the time pass faster, that is all. Not much else to be doin' in this bed. I'm not sleeping I'm thinkin' if I'm thinkin' then I'm wallowin'." she realize what she was saying that moment and she sort of Winced her face. So not that I regret doin' it but if yee tell anybody that and I'll make sure to shove ya into the next fire-beam that we come to Aye? She sort of flashed a slight grin, one that would have definitely showed she was slightly joking, even if only slightly.

"I'm all healed if yar wonderin' just gonna go and possibly commission me some limbs soon so I can practice walkin' in 'em." she shrugged reaching for a mug of room temperature water. She's had it there for a few hours at least... Was quite the nap indeed

He gave a small smile and a nod.

“Aye. Mine lips are sealed.”

He’d let the door close before coming in, bringing a hand up behind his head to rub the back of his neck. As she suggested he was stoping by wondering about something, he’d shake his head. He didn’t have to wonder, he knew what she would be about.

“Actually....I came to ask if you’d be interested in being squad mates.”

He let his hand drop, shifting the shoulder of the damaged arm.

“You saved my life, and I owe you for that. I can’t rightly repay my debt while never being around you, so....”

It was quite the quick answer for that she gave. She started it with shaking her head and lowering her gaze. She could respect that kind of resolve from a bloke to the point she was sorry she has to turn him down. Her expression remained stoic partially from just waking up and other because she was not all that expressive.

"I get how yee feel, I ne'er let a dept go unpaid." she looked up at him. "My current partner is workin' with me instead of lookin' for another I... I'm goin' to put in the same effort so his time not be wasted. I owe it to 'im."

He’d wave off the concern.

“Well, no I mean, squads aren’t just two people. They can be five or six or more. And I’m not uh....looking to help with your situation, necessarily. I wouldn’t know how. I could like...make some metal limbs for you but you’d have to stay within like twenty feet of me forever for them to keep functioning.”

He chuckled, an alarm going off in the back of his mind at having revealed a weakness of his Qi to this girl. He’d let it roll off his shoulders- she was a soldier of Cabal, and deserved to know his limitations in battle.

“I just, I want to make sure the next mission you go on, That im there to watch your back. And if you wanna test whatever this other partner is teaching you by fighting with me, I’ll happily take you on. I’m assuming it’s Eric that your rolling with....? The guy who led our grouping last time?”

She kind of tilted her head her eyes growing a little wider as a raising brow. It wasn't a weakness to his Qi that she heard it sounded like a slight desperation for fulfilling his moral duty of sorts. While it was as noble as the nights of old she'd figure out real quick that she'd not really have an answer for him. While she hadn't known that squads could pretty much be a full team it was a matter of there being only two of us already in a squad she would not be able to answer for Eric in that matter either.

One thing she was certain with on that matter. "Eric is indeed our squad leader, if ya join us I don't have an opinion but that aside... what yar suggestin' will be counterproductive to what I want... I'll not come out of this bein' dependent on someone." she was hard on that matter. Maybe a bit too much of her personal feeling to it considering how he was just trying to help. Her lips pressed into a thin line as she exhaled through her nose. "I be doin' some meditatin' or somethin' this kind of training they got me doin' is not quite somethin' I can test until I got it sorted through. If it comes to that I will gladly have your help. I'll also ask Eric 'bout it, bein' partners we need to agree. Aye?

He nodded.

"Agreed. The man knows more about leadership than me, obviously. Wise beyond his years. I'll happily learn from him, if he'd have me. But don't get me wrong, I'm not out to play your crutch, pun intended. I want to get stronger to, and I figure being your friend and fighting with you can be enough punishment and poetic justice to fulfill my obligation. And if during that I get the chance to save your life, then more power to me."

He'd grin broadly.

She plopped back head sinking in her thick mass of curls. She blew a strand from her face as she used one hand to rub the end of the other.

"Thank yee for clearin' that up." She paused searching her mind for answers to give him. "Ah... I return to active duty in what might be about ten days. Our Captain expects me by that time. I am sure you'd clear things up with 'im once Eric is spoken too." She shrugged. "I am not sure 'ow the cryptic bloke will look at ya but good luck." She'd raise two straight fingers to her forehead and send them off in a salute for Allen.

He'd nod.

"Right. See you then."

He'd bounce!
