Bye Bye Bye [Damien]

So...this was Pier Fourteen.

Arianna swallowed as she moved down the corridor with an escort. By the time she got back to the infirmary, Damien had been taken away. It took putting her foot down to receive the agreement to receive clearance to go, so here she was.

Her hand rubbed over her heart again, still sore, and now for different reasons than before.

They led her to a meeting center, where a few families sat about talking to other men in orange jumpsuits. Damien came out shirtless, the jumpsuit top tied around his waist. There was a bruise on his left eye and a cut on his lip, very...very fresh. He sat, the ring he wore around his neck still dangling safely there. They'd find both their Qi were muted.

"Hey you."

He searched her eyes, trying to assess how she was.

Damien would see she wasn't outwardly angry.

She was an open book, however, and as her eyes passed over his black eye and cut lip there were flashes of concern, dismay, and some strange mixture of frustration and acceptance, but she seemed stuck staring at the small metal hoop on the chain around his neck. At least...until the greeting snapped her gaze up.

'Some things never change...'

"Hey," A beat, and something close to a sigh. "What happened, this time..?"

Obviously she was asking about his face. Good bye, precious modelling career.

He sniffed, pointing at the eye.

"This was for betraying Cabal." He turned, so she could see his back which was also covered in bruises. "As are these. Guards helped some. Was fun."

He pointed at the cut in his lip.

"That's after someone tried to take the ring. The guards found his body, and did that with a nightstick."

A muscle worked in her jaw as her lips pressed together with the news. Guards beating prisoners wasn't necessarily anything new, but, it didn't make it right in any of the cases it happened in. Some pragmatic part of the blonde acknowledged the reasoning behind it - betraying Cabal was a serious offence and he was lucky to be exported to Two instead of more serious consequences - and Damien probably took that in stride.

The bit about the ring, though, had her still, almost akin to stone.

Death she couldn't condone. All the same, that it meant so much to him...

Well.

"Which guards?"

He waved it off.

"It's not important. Now that they know I'm willing to kill in defense of it, even knowing the guards are around, they'll leave it."

He cocked a brow.

"I have to say...I am a little surprised you came."

"Which guards?" Came the reiteration, along with a crossing of her arms.

His waving it off wasn't going to fly.

If he gave up the ghost, she'd respond to his attempted segue with a "Why is that..?" but if he didn't, she'd keep her expectant silence.

His brow furrowed, his hand coming down.

"Pick one at random, Arianna. Because these faces in suits are not worth our time. And from what I've seen, it could have been any of them."

The muscle ticked again, and she changed her approach.

"If I requested a first aid kit and ice pack, would they come after you again for that?"

Her fingers moved, this time, there on her lap. Foolish of her to not bring her own, really.

He shrugged.

"I dunno. Don't think so, but I've also never been here."

He wouldn't let it show....but he loved that part of her.

Arianna straightened just a little more and looked around; there were guards to supervise, naturally, and the first one that met her eyes she gestured over with a couple quick quirks of her finger.

Hand resting on his sword, the guard approached.

"Is something wrong, maam?"

[Arianna Barrial]

"That depends on if my requests are fulfilled or not," She gave a slight smile, though it was a no-nonsense sort of smile she would often give her more uncooperative patients. "I need a first aid kit and an ice pack, first, which I'm sure won't be a problem for such an upstanding facility."

Implying there was more.

The man blinked, then looked to Damien, who simply stared back.

"Okay."

He waggled some fingers at one of the guards, who started approaching.

"Bring us some ice, cloth and an aid kit."

"Thank you." She would be content to wait while the summoned guard scampered away. "Next, who is the Warden, here? Is that yourself or someone different?"
