He cocked a brow.
"The Warden? Why?"
He was beginning to get suspicious!

"I have some questions for them, perhaps some concerns. Surely there's nothing wrong that a surgeon asking a few questions is seen as a threat..?" She continued to use a soft tone, if firm. If it was seen as threatening, all sorts of red flags would go off.

He glanced between them, then got the gist.
"Listen, I don't know how you think things go at Cabal, but around here, we don't have the luxury of a trial for every injustice. Sometimes, we have to mote it out ourselves. If you have a problem with it, there's the door."
He was getting pissed off now!

"Every injustice..?" Arianna queried. "So things like this happen often? Perhaps I should make myself clear on my position, then. If the inmates here are frequently manhandled without treatment, I have an oath as well as a moral and ethical duty to uphold for the general well-being and health of people, be they inmates or otherwise, as a doctor. If I need to make rounds to ensure inmates and guards are in good health, I'll gladly do so."
An eyebrow lifted.
"Free of charge and complaint, other than to facilitate some change in certain protocols." Nerves of steel kept her still, just as they kept her hands steady during any surgery, but especially delicate ones. "If you feel I am simply here to champion justice for Damien, then I say this: for what he did at Cabal, knowingly or not, I can overlook the black eye and other bruises, though I am not in any way pleased. He probably stood still while it happened and let the guards hit him...so my issue then lies with any aftercare prisoners do or do not receive."

How did she....?
He glanced at one of the other guards who shook his head. Clearly, she'd not seen the recordings. Still, he shifted from one foot to another.
"You dig your own grave."
The other guard started coming back, but he held a hand.
"Return the supplies. I find myself suddenly much less....generous. Now speed this conversation along, it's almost time for Recreation."
The guard left without another word.

Arianna took note of the name tag as he told the other guard off.
That one was one, she would stake money on that.
She might not have been her sister in terms of sleuthing, but she didn't get where she'd been going as quickly as she did by being a dull nail, either. Just judging by his reactions and actions he also held a lot of clout with the rest of the guards... Which lead her to wonder if the Warden was aware of the power dynamic or ignorant and thus negligent...or if this sort of thing was encouraged.
While he waved the other guard up her gaze made for a quick sweep over him. A nightstick was a given, along with the usual rigmarole for a correctional officer. Did he have anything else on him?
The lack of generosity was duly noted, though she wasn't so foolish to say so out loud.

She'd notice several items. Smoke grenades. Tasers. A locked sword.
The other guard would watch the man that was walking away before rushing over quickly and depositing items into Ariannas arms.
She then turned and walked stiff-backed over to her post.

Nothing that seemed out of the ordinary, any way, which meant perhaps the guards didn't have access to qi. Not that she would have been able to filch it off him, any way, she didn't think. The deposit of items into her lap was surprising at best, and she glanced at the female with a look of confusion before it cleared to appreciation.
Not everyone in the facility, then. But enough.
Arianna's attention returned to the former guard with something to hide - Harry Triweek wasn't a name she'd forget - to watch where he went.
"...why were you surprised I showed up..?"

She'd watch him walk to a door, and exit.
"I just...I didn't think you'd want to see me again. You seem so...angry, or frustrated, whenever you do."

"Because I am." Her eyes roved back to meet Damien's. "Because as simple as some things are, others aren't, and it's not easy to process years of agony and grief brought back in combination with a lot of anger and relief and shame."
She opened the kit and then twisted the ice pack, breaking the barrier between the chemicals and mixing them. It was a small pack, no bigger than three inches by another three. She handed it off to Damien before withdrawing items to clean the cut. She wouldn't be able to do too much more without treatment being notable, but at the very least she could clean him up.
As she started, she spoke quietly. "I have a feeling I made things worse for you with that."
Shoot her, sue her, but she would be looking into this.
Safely.
"...one of the reasons I came here was...that I figured I should share the information I found a few weeks ago while examining a piece of carapace from one of the scorpion qi beasts." She took out the notepad that she'd jotted notes down on, in case she needed to revisit them, all the way from here. "...it's possible it was a matter of contamination, or infection."

Damien would reach out to take the notepad, reading over the information.
"Much of this I knew- but some not."
He glanced at the cameras.
"I discovered they have visual in this room, but no audio. Apparently, the Dragons wanted to make sure that any conversations they had in these rooms they knew they'd visit would remain private."
He'd hand it back.
"So I can finally speak freely."
He stared for a moment, clearing his throat before looking down at the table.
"I was sent by territory 2 in order to spy on Cabal. They knew I'd be given an important position, and they needed both a voice and eyes from the inside that could relay what the reaction would be to those territories that broke away. If it was armament, they'd know to begin preparations for war. If not, then they might have put some additional faith in them. They would not have sanctioned an attack on Cabal, but from what I understand there was some evidence putting them down as the ones who did."
He would grab the water bottle and take a drink.
"My secondary objective was to capture Leon Sudeki, and bring him to territory 2. The hope was that David would follow, and they could break the chains that 259 had on them. Along with any drug induced training they may have been given."

Arianna took a deep breath, packing away the supplies in the first aid kit with a quick look at what was in the kit. All the while, though, she was listening. It was still probably something she shouldn’t have been told but she appreciated the transparency all the same.
“...well...” She took a breath. She was in a similar situation with the Gods at the moment. “What has your assessment been, considering the latter part hasn’t worked out..?”

Damien half shrugged.
"I have no real answers. Cabal was attacked, and they'll look to point the finger. David has been a prisoner of his mind for so long, I don't know how he'll take to fresh air. But whatever happens, there's a war coming and Cabal will be the crown jewel."
He chewed his lip.
"On top of that...this information is part of the many reasons I just couldn't come back to you. You're angry at lost time. At finding another man. At me not taking or or making this a priority. But think of everything that's happened since. The lives you've saved, including perhaps your own. Territory two couldn't risk that I would abandon my oath to them for you, so I couldn't return, even if I wanted to. And our enemies had eyes on you constantly. The risk was vast. You have to understand that, right?"
She kept saying she wanted more explanations. Here they were.
"I also believe that whoever led the attack on Cabal were the same ones who must have found a way to control me. Likely using Barkers early research and tech."

She was tired of being angry and as emotional as she was over the entire thing. It was exhausting on top of the stress of the infirmary, on top of being crushed and blown to fiery bits. The lines in her shoulders softened slightly, and then by a few more degrees.
She didn’t know if she could let it all go so soon, or what she would do about everything else.
Arianna swallowed against the lump in her throat and the emotions bubbling up.
“I...can understand.” She might not have liked it, but she could understand. Here she was, trying to help but undoubtedly making things worse. The door had yet to open from where the guard had disappeared to. And it wasn’t as though she was trying to punish Damien by mucking things up, here, but the sudden flash of awareness that it could be taken as such - regardless of the fact Damien probably wouldn’t - hit her.
Time was running short and that feeling of doom was growing.
“I’m sorry for making things worse. Maybe you deserved the bruises from before, but not this mess I’ve made.”

He gave a soft smile.
"They'd find a reason to do whatever they're gonna do anyway. They won't like that i have such a beautiful woman looking after me. Or they'll get revenge for the man I killed. Who knows."
He would lick his lips.
"I am....really glad you came, Arianna. It gives me the opportunity to ask."
He'd hold out his hands, intent to take hers in his.
"I wanted to know...if you'd come to territory 2. Be with me there. Abel is welcome to come too, of course. But there I can...protect you."
