She was dreaming. At least, she hoped she was. Bailey wasn't sure what she'd do if she was actually being swallowed up by the earth again, or torn into by a beast she couldn't quite make out. Voices faded in and out as she slipped between consciousness, sometimes a faint whisper in the distance, sometimes a roar in her ears, like the ocean was washing over her. Piercing the darkness once in a while was also the sound of machines, or footsteps.
Dusk was starting to make its presence known when she finally woke, the rosy sky darkening to violet and darker still. Bailey groaned, trying to raise a hand to her head, which felt like it was stuffed with cotton and shards of glass. She bit back a sound of pain as the same sensation shot down her right arm, startling her completely of her haze to look down at the offending limb. Her brows knit at the sight of stitches along her upper arm, the memories striking her with the cause of her injuries.
Eric. She closed her eyes with a heavy sigh, wincing at the sharp soreness in her gut. That was right. Somehow, she'd wound up here, so either he had brought her back or some random good samaritan had found her. Both seemed highly unlikely.
Either way, she was here, and there was a moment to drawn breath and let it go free. She was back in what was quickly becoming her second home, the infirmary walls were already too white, too blanks and ready to close in. But at least she didn't have to deal with any awkward questions. She didn't exactly have a plan if they did come up.
Hopefully, for a time, there would be peace and quiet. She would take it, too, not bothering to ring for a nurse despite the fact it felt like her body had been run over by a semi before the driver decided to back over her again for kicks.

It had been busy, mostly. And it had been quite a shock when Bailey had been brought to them, though Arianna and others were quick to make a move to help put Bailey back together again. It was quiet, after, on again and off again, and Arianna left after some time - when the next patient was brought in - to do what she could. Injuries were, of course, a common thing. The variables were the type and severity of injuries, and...well, the person that sustained them, as well.
Bailey was left in relative peace - at least, the quiet part of things, surely she was uncomfortable and in pain at best - for some time before the soft footfalls of someone making their rounds came to be audible. Eventually, they came closer and paused outside the curtain, as though the person was perhaps reading over something. The curtain peeled back and for a few moments Arianna stared, as though she was having difficulties processing that Bailey was awake.
It had been a long day. She was.
And then she moved forward, into the room with her clipboard clasped in one hand.
"Bailey..? How are you feeling?"
Arianna could assume but it was for the best if it was straight from the horse's mouth.

She dozed off and on as much as her body would allow, trying to focus on something, anything other than the fury her body was feeling. The footsteps beyond didn't break her dozing, but the sound of the curtain's rings against the bar did. She opened her eyes to find a familiar, friendly face.
"Hey, Arianna." She offered her friend a weak smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. Though grateful for the sight of her, Bailey also knew that she would be asked qustions that she really didn't want to answer, and there was more than discomfort causing her to shift.
"Like I got hit by a truck and backed over again." She winced with the slight movement. She'd gotten more of a beating than she'd ever had before, but she was alive. For better or worse.

With their eyes meeting, they had a shared understanding of what needed to happen.
With Bailey's words, though, Arianna nodded and moved to the back cabinets, shifting the small stretchy band at her waist in order to use the keys there to unlock it, and withdraw a dose of painkillers.
"I'd imagine so, you were in pretty rough shape. On a scale of one to ten, where's your pain at?"
By this point she probably was well-versed in this measurement. One was low, ten was high.

Bailey would understand and choose not to comment for now. She wasn't even sure what she'd say, but she understood the basic rules that were given to her, even without Eric breathing down her neck with yet another warning that he'd kill her if she did anything that might reveal what they'd been doing. Just like the other things.
"I'm sure I'll have worse one day." She closed her eyes, holding a breath before releasing it. "About a seven."

"That doesn't invalidate your current pain level," Arianna intoned, tolerant and patient. And either that or her own patience paid off, for Bailey was quick to answer, and it gave Arianna a basis for the type of dosage and painkiller she would need. Morphine was usually a decent catch-all for pain, and she pushed a measured amount into the IV unit so it would mix with the fluids already being dripped into her.
"You should feel more comfortable in a few minutes." She sat down and wheeled the stool closer, taking out her pen to write a few shorthand notes on the page before glancing at the watch on her wrist to note the time. "Were you caught out by someone, or, training?"
Perhaps it would be easier for her to answer that. Arianna's gaze roamed back up to Bailey's.

Bailey decided not to press the argument further on her pain, bracing herself for the incoming dizziness that would happen with a direct IV line for the painkiller. She watched as her friend stayed in medic mode, pulling up beside her bed to talk about the situation.
"I don't remember," she admitted quietly, hating herself for the lie. "How did I even get here?" That confusion, at least, was true.

Her doctor's intuition was telling her there was something fishy going on. Arianna, however, was too tactful to outright say, so she took the immediate route that she could voice her concerns and pry a little more.
"Were you hit on the head..?" Amnesia? Concussion? She didn't seem to be at the time but that didn't mean anything. Out came the penlight so she could check the dilation of her eyes. "I wasn't present to see."

"That makes two of us," Bailey mumbled softly, eyes fluttering a bit as she tried not to stop herself from looking into the light.
"No, no history of amnesia." Her brows knit, but she may have hit her head when she was suddenly on the ground and fighting to get up. "I don't think I hit my head? Not hard, anyway. It's possible, I suppose. I think I fell."

"And what were you doing that you fell..?" She queried, confused. Bailey wasn't exactly the klutzy type, from what she'd seen. Falls happened, but... "I'm concerned."
She sat back, clicking the penlight off, and folded her hands in her lap overtop of it. Clearly, by her steady stare, she was waiting.

"Working with my qi?" She frowned a little, aware of the unwavering stare and almost parental air about her friend.
"I've learned I can do something else with it that was unexpected and...well, potent. I was trying to get a handle of it so I could get used to it and not get hurt, or hurt anyone else." She winced, the frown fading. "I don't think I succeeded." Remembering who it was she was speaking with, she clarified.
"Not like the grip trouble I had. I haven't broken anything with it; I just don't have a good grasp on it yet."

She took the explanation in and sighed.
"Okay... So what's this new aspect of your qi?" Her head tilted. Apparently, she bought the explanation, but that didn't mean the questions stopped there.

Bailey would take the small victory when it came her way, relaxing a little at the question as she sighed.
"I'm starting to find new ways to direct the energy I use. Normally, I just pull it raw and I can use it to strengthen peple, cover their defenses. Now I think I've started finding ways to do more than just buff them. I can move them, but I don't have the greatest control over the force of it." Hence she would not give an example in teh infirmary. With medical equipment.

Nor would Arianna ask for such a demonstration when Bailey clearly needed rest and recuperation.
"...I'd recommend not practicing alone. Maybe it's a backlash from trying to use it..?"

"It might be, but I think it's more that I need practice still." She winced as she shifted, then stopped and gave up. The pain was fading, but the topic still made her awkward. "I didn't want to risk anyone else getting hurt with it, but I'll make sure to have someone with me next time. Just in case."
