She watched from afar as healing wounds only slightly ached from the pain killers she was given. He crutched down the side walk and she grinned a bit seeing some not so quickly growing limbs. Of a few people and only a few she was happy to see him back. She was in a tree watching with a notebook in hand. Writing a new addition to his bio his regen is not only close up wounds but actually regrew them too. It was quite neat indeed she was interested. She started seeing others like him and she learned much about them. Each one varying from the last with their monstrous forms. Still he caught her gaze as he waked by it wasnt just that he could have something in common with her that she liked but something about him struck her reaching deep in her chest. His fighting form, his stoic attitude and simply the air he exuded drew her in. She wanted to talk to him one of these days. Though she always felt so nervous that not only did she have a Qi but a Qi that would be repulsive to his beliefs... Well his former beliefs that is. From what she had heard it was likely he renounced every thing he ever knew and fought for something new. She heard he was a great leader that others looked up and were grateful for his strength. She couldn't have smiled bigger maybe this Blake was easier to approach than the one she knew before.
Her thoughts ran about how it might play out in her mind and she found herself remembering the night she met Damien. Her smile faded. She had received word he was getting a worse off punishment than he predicted. It was not meant to be that she'd head for territory 2 with him and suppose she was okay with that. About as okay to say going there by herself wouldn't have been the most intelligent or the safest thing to do. If he was a criminal of their law there was no way in hell she was going to just waltz in. So she thought it best to let sleeping dogs lie where Damien stood. He gave off a similar quality that Blake had one that caught her interest and only made her crave their attention.
She looked at Blake and wondered what it would be like if she was finally noticed. As much as she'd like it she was content to say it wasnt going to be meant to be. She turns into a soggy noodle at the face of a blade. Her martial prowess was appalling. She had some instincts but someone like Blake would only see her as worthless. Honestly it was easier saying that than facing him and him realizing that cold hard truth. Imagining his face she just grimaced and used both her hands to scratch the sides of her head with a small grunt. It was no bueno... Nope...
With that she sat back and looked at her stitches a heavy weight grew in her chest. Blake was no longer in her sight continuing his day not knowing or not caring that she existed. She'll have to face Barker again and start this job he had lined up for her. She wondered if she could do it.
One though had come to her mind. Like Bailey... She left unprepared and uncertain and now she walks about as if she aged into maturity by 10 years. It was like coming back and she became someone stronger, wiser, and seeing her new resolve she didn't shy away from much anymore. She had a do or die attitude and bravery matching her experience.
Oni clamped her slacked jaw closed from day dreaming about it. She cleared her throat and rubbed her eyes. She wondered what could change her in such a short time? She wondered how herself could change in a short time. She wondered if she could face a blade and or bludgeon not cringe and cower from the pain she'd end up feeling from it. Instead quickly dodge it with out flinching. Becoming strong enough to catch the gaze of someone like Blake without looking like an absolute deer on ice to do it.
She sat for a little while longer to write what she was originally up here for. A letter to her Dad mentioning that she'd be away on a mission for a while.
Dad
Miss you and hope you are well. I wanted to let you know that I am finally accepting a mission. You know how I pretty much been avoiding it since I never wanted to be a fighter but I've come to terms that this world isn't a place where you get by and survive thinking people will always do the fighting for you. It was not my intention but I realize it was the truth of my ignorance. My mission shouldn't be too dangerous as I am only going to go out and make a discovery. Uncovering fact from fiction and for better or worse.
I wish you well and hope you don't worry too much about me. Love Onides...
She'd take a deep breath while shoving her notebooks in her backpack and used her sticky fingers to get down the tree. She'd head to her room to pack just a little more before facing Barker again. It was that afternoon she'd end up right on his front door giving it a good knocking.
