His eyes narrowed at her. He didn't like strange Qi happenings that no one had an answer for. Less so when they vanish before he has a chance to examine it.

He'd slam his foot on the ground to send a stone spike upward right in front of Bailey to see if it would prompt something.

It prompts Bailey to yelp and jump back, not at all expecting the attack when they were just talking?? She'd thought?

"What the heck?! What was that for?"

He'd politely answer her... WITH ANOTHER STONE SPIKE SHOOTING OUT OF THE GROUND!

Bailey backs the fuck up and steps to the side, angry now as well as confused.

"This isn't funny."

"Agreed."

And if surprise didn't do it, maybe pain would trigger it.

He'd slam another foot into the ground, sending a spike from behind her this time for her calf.

"Then what are you doing this for?" The golden webbing would appear around her legs as Bailey buffed her defense, anticipating an attack but not sure what direction it would come from. She bit back the cry of pain as the spike impaled her calf, drawing her escrima sticks as she hissed at the sensation that tore through her leg.

"What is your problem?" she managed through clenched teeth.

[Bailey Oleander]

"Trigger what?" she asked in exasperation, the last word closer to a scream as the stone continued to work its way through her. The black and red swirls would start to return, faint but growing stronger the more damag he caused. It seemed to be strongest around her hands.

The arrow was different from before, however, was not what she had used on the field or in battle before. The light was cracked, the arrow looking more like crumbling stone as the cracks spiderwebbed around it.

There were no questions for Mathew this time, no demands. Instead, she was staring at her own attack in confusion in horror.

"That's...that's not..." She shook her head. That wasn't hers. It couldn't be.

'Normal?' came Loki's familiar voice.  'Kinda jacked?'

Bailey was still staring, trying to process what she had seen. It had to have been a trick of the light, something she imagined from the stress of this place, or his attacks. But she hadn't been stressed her. She'd come here to breathe. She shuddered, lips pressing into a tight line as her eyes narrowed, recalling Mathew's words. Trying to trigger something.

"What did you do?" she asked softly, sending another arrow at him. The cracks were still there, and the webbing around her had a red sheen to it.

He'd say, driving the spike deeper into her leg again. The ground shifting under his feet to keep him in place still, despite her efforts.

"No," Bailey would buff her defense, though with the damage done, there was no golden glimmer. Instead, it looked lines of fresh wounds were running over her body and seeping blood as she took even more damage. She'd take a blood blade from Jackal, who was frantic at this point, and would attempt to break off the stone spike from the ground. It wouldn't stop what was in her leg, but at least she wouldn't be pinned.

"You wanted to trigger this. Why?" This didn't make sense. That wasn't what she did. It was like watching a twisted version of her own abilities.

She screamed as the other leg was attacked, unable to stop the strength of it as it took her other leg, immobilizing her completely. Her breath came in ragged gasps as she glared at him.

"Mind enlightening me?" she hissed, swapping sword for scalpels and throwing one at him, the bleeding lines continuing to seep along her skin. The edges of her vision grew dark, no closer to answers than she had been.  Mathew would notice the aura was stronger!
