The Greatest Loss (Hector/GM)

[Bailey Oleander]

For once, Bailey hadn't needed to visit the infirmary directly after battle, the burned-over wound had healed and started scabbing over past what could be done on the healer's part, a flash of red against her skin as a reminder of her first battle in war.  Though the scar was one she would always carry with her, it wasn't her only reminder of "round two" of the tournament that she had taken part in.  Despite the shock of everything that had happened after, there was one thing she had yet to do, and refused to rest until she did.

"Give this to my father," he'd said.  Only she had more than just Krane's headpiece; she carried with her the jar of the Kraken's remains and soul, as Emma had said.  Perhaps his father would have an idea how to bring him back.  He had died an honorable death, had been a good commander on the field, but Bailey knew with a sad smile that she was delivering the ashes of a child to their parent.

And so, with both items carefully wrapped and cradles, she searched on.

[Leon]

She would find someone! they were wearing a dark cloak, a folded scythe on their back and a skull mask on their face!

[Bailey Oleander]

Oh, the articles of one's office. It was likely this was who she was looking for. Just a hunch. Still, she had no idea how to address the man, especially since Emma's speech threw her. Formality seemed best.

"Excuse me. Lord Hades?"

[Leon]

The guy person turned to look at her and shook his head.

"Reaper... Lord Hades is upon the roof of the main building, overlooking the souls of the fallen."

[Bailey Oleander]

"Ah, I'm sorry Reaper." She nodded at his explanation. "Is it alright if I go up then?" She has no idea what the process for all of that is for him. Last thing she wanted was to interrupt something in depth, and yet, if he was looking for a certain soul in particular while he was at it...well. She'd be able to make that search easier, at least.

[Leon]

"It would be wise, to speak softly, and be humble."

[Bailey Oleander]

"I will remember. Thank you, Reaper." Nodding to him, Bailey would make her way up to the roof with quiet steps, the contents in her scarf held safely as she did so, though most anyone else would see is a scarf. The last thing she wanted to do was advertise what she was carrying to all of Cabal.

[Leon]

She would find Hades, flouting a few feet above the roof, his coat flouting about. blue flaming skulls orbiting his body slowly as he stared into the nothingness.

[Bailey Oleander]

Bailey would close the door behind her, taking a couple of steps forward before stopping, voice even and low, hoping she wasn't actively interrupting.

"Excuse me, Lord Hades? May I speak with you a moment?"

[Leon]

Hades would turn his head and flout tot he ground standing at his obscene height of six foot eight. Looking down at Bailey with the cold blue orbs in his head, contract to the black hair and cloak. There was no light in his eyes, they were pale and angry.

"Speak."

[Bailey Oleander]

Well, now Bailey knew where Krane got his height from. She almost got a crick in her neck looking up at Hades as she spoke.

"My name is Bailey. I have some things for you, sir." She took a single step forward, but no more unless he'd allow it. He was a god, and in pain. "One is from Krane." She laid a hand on her scarf and the objects within, her expression softening to one of sadness. "He trusted me with it in the last battle." She swallowed, aware she was on dangerous ground as a gleam of gold showed in the green fabric, still holding his gaze as her voice grew stronger.

"He saved my life, a lot of our lives, and he died with honor. But our allies were able to gather all of his remains, and his soul." She would carefully remove the bottle with the flickering gem holding his soul sealing it.

"So while Krane wanted me to give you his headpiece, I want to give this to you, first."

[Leon]

Hector would stare, approaching her on his own and reaching out with both hands to take the items. Holding the soul. His right hand seemingly had a ghost version of his arm reach into it, with his physical arm following suit and through it, ripping the soul rom the stone. Holding Krane's soul and dropping the stone. Krane's eyes were closed, he was smiling and whole. He was sleeping and quiet. Hector's eyes furrowed. Hades would wrap the soul in his cloak and set it to the side. Leaving Hector in black long sleeved shirt, black trousers and boots.

"You say he saved your life... And gave you his head piece... His crown, a symbol... He saw greatness in you. Keep it."

[Bailey Oleander]

Bailey watched, fascinated, as Hector tore the soul from the stone, freeing it from its well-intended prison. Her gaze went to the vision of Krane, blinking in surprise at the sight of him whole and smiling. She smiled in turn, happy to see him content and at piece, remembering how torn up he had been the first time she'd seen him, bleeding out and dying. Tears in his eyes, fearing his failure over his investigation.

"Goodbye, Krane," she murmured. "Thank you." She turned her attention back to Hector when he told her to keep the crown, however, mouth slightly agape before she caught herself.

"To give to yo--" She stopped herself from protesting, instead tucking the crown back to safety. Krane had seen greatness in her? Her?

"Thank you. I will." She paused, almost hesitant, then continued. "I'm sorry for your loss. He was a good man, and a good commander. It's an honor to have known to him." She liked to think they understood each other, at least a little.

[Leon]

Hades eyes would stay pained at this point as he turned away from Bailey.

"... Leave me to my grief... I will summon you when he wakes up, for goodbyes if you wish."

[Bailey Oleander]

"Yes, sir." Bailey would nod at his dismissal. "And thank you. I would appreciate it." She looked at Krane's cloaked form for a moment longer, then left Hades to a grief no parent should feel.
