"You really think so?"

He looked to stare at her, leaving the obvious unsaid.

"Whatever feelings may be there are not the deciding factor. To my understanding, she is in a relationship with someone else, which speaks plainly enough despite whatever complications have arisen with Damien and myself appearing like daisies popping out of the snow. That does not suddenly erase the time we have been gone, or she thought him dead and tried to live for herself...or does it..?"

Her sister was every bit as extraordinary as she herself was, but, not everyone was cut out to hold out and hold on as long as she had.

[David B.]

He slowly closed his eyes and sighed.

"Yeah, I suppose your right. I simply meant in their minds, they hold each other close. But in reality, she seems to have made her decision. Maybe it should just be you and I that goes...so as not to cause more harm."

[Kyrie Blaze]

"I could not say if she has or has not. Right now it is probably safe to assume her world has been turned on its head again and she is trying to make sense of it and herself." Her shoulders moved, the motion eloquent. "Chances of her not following through now that she has given her word she would do something...are slim to none, and slim ran out of the building the moment she said she would."

Her head tilted.

"It is not a bad thing to hope there may be something there... And however unfortunate I feel it may be, they are both adults and need to figure their own crap out."

God knew, Arianna had laid into her when they talked.

He nodded.

"I know you're right. I guess I just imagined some anger on her side if I went without her. But like I said....we could just leave, and I could let a student know what we need her to know."

He shrugged.

"I don't want her to hate me for it but at the same time, If I'm doing more harm than good, I'll back off."

[Kyrie Blaze]

"I would say that is up to her to decide, whether it is something she can handle or not."

Choices and the results and consequences that stemmed from them had always been big in their family, after all.

Her head slowly tipped the opposite way.

"What about you..? Where are you sitting in all of this, with remembering?"

[David B.]

He kinda tilted his head from side to side in a thoughtful manner.

"It's weird. I remember everything from before, and from when i was cuffed. It's like two halves of myself have been superglued together."

He sighed.

"It's probably gonna take more time before I really understand myself again. But whatever the case is, I'm not leaving. Not yet, anyway. Someday I'd like to have a home again........and a family."

He glanced at her.

The blonde nodded. It would take time for him, and she was okay with not rushing it.

His concluding statements, though, drew her blue eyes to his face, and his own eyes.

"One day," There was a quiet thread of wistful nostalgia and desire in her tone before it melted away. "War is on the horizon, though."

So it would have to be put on hold, as usual.

[David B.]

His own response was quieter as he vacuum sealed the area, making it so no one else would hear.

"It doesn't have to be, for us."

He looked out the window.

"I tire of war. and 259 is evolving. The people here grow strong, and with things going as they are, Asiv may try to find new leadership. If he does...I think I'd want to retire and be done with this."

There was a familiar pressure in her ears with the use of his qi, but her body language remained, as did her tone.

"Strength does not guarantee a win, and I would rather not live in a world I had no hand in shaping...or potentially bring another child into a world that is less than ideal." Nothing would ever be perfect, of course, and she knew that. However...the type of world that was created after this mess was ultimately what mattered. "Much as I do not want to chance losing one another, and even as much as War and constantly fighting to keep what was built is both irksome and tiring, it is not something we can afford to turn away from."

Much like previous times something like this had come up, in what ways it had.

There was also an awareness that it wouldn't simply stop, and even in retirement and trying to raise a family, there would always be a wary eye kept out, always be training to keep herself sharp.

...after all, what happened to Bastille and the girls still haunted her...

He sighed, then smiled.

"You always have to be so damn right all the time, don't you?"

He'd move over to her, taking her hip in his hand, and give her a gentle kiss to remind himself that despite her being right, in the end they would have each other.

And that's what mattered.

"An unfortunate curse."

She didn't quite smile, more sighed the response, as though resigned to it in this particular case. Her hand slipped to cup his jaw as she returned the kiss, and then lightly leaned her forehead against his chest, after.

"It is not in me to shirk responsibility...though I almost desperately wish I could."

[David B.]

He took a deep breath.

"Me either. I might dream and wish for it....but some part of me knows i should have died on that battlefield, and I worry that it will always be my ending."

He wrapped his arms around her.

"I just pray it's not yours. I don't....want that for you."

[Kyrie Blaze]

Closer she went, coiling her arms around him, in turn, from beneath his.

"You know as well as I do prayers do nothing, in the grand scheme of the world." She hummed once, a sort of amused sound. Still, she appreciated the sentiment for what it was. "Just as you know I promise I will never give up, and I will fight to make it out alive.

"We make our own fates...and you can choose differently."

[David B.]

How true it was.

"Yeah, I guess." He kissed the top of her head.

"We should get packing."

He'd release her and start for the door.
