Melanie looked at her crutches laying on the table next to her. She really hates them. They were just awful. Bulky, stuff, uncomfortable, ugly. The list went on and on. She checked her phone, it was still early. Flicking through her phone she called up Matthews number again:
‘Hey, please read this. I’m sorry for before. If you’ll meet me in the courtyard, I’d like to apologize for my previous behavior. If not, I’ll say it here as well. I’ll be in the courtyard until 2:30.
I’m sorry I was rude. I’m also sorry I goaded you into hurting me. I was childish and immature. I do hope you’ll accept this apology. The only reason I can come up with for my behavior would be I am beyond emotional with the very real possibility of losing Krane. I have loved him from afar for so long and I never told him. I’m sure you couldn’t care less as to how this foolish girl is feeling. But I am sorry. You don’t have to help me, but I am asking because Hades told me to. I should have started our conversation much differently, but in my hurry I didn’t. For that and everything else, I am truly sorry.’
Melanie sent the message and looked at the time. It was half past one. She closed her phone and placed it on the table. Taking a deep breath, she prepared to wait for an hour and then leave. She didn’t think Matthew would show. She showed the kind of person she was. Rude and rushed. Foolish and immature. Stupid and assuming. Privileged and wrong. She sighed and looked at the ground playing with the grass.

Honestly, he was in no mood to deal with this. His ribs while mending were still putting him in more lasting pain than he'd felt in years. At least physically. But as always he'd stubbornly deal with it. The last thing he needed was to deal with this child again and her emotional distress. He couldn't fathom why she thought he gave a rats ass about anything with her. But there it was.
A good part of him wanted to just ignore the message. And under most circumstances, he probably would have. At least before he had become a Dad. But if this was his daughter, which it wasn't, and she had behaved like this girl had. Well, he'd expect her to apologize too, and for the person to accept it. Though of course, his daughter wouldn't be stupid enough to talk to a Dragon and a God this way. He'd raised her better than that.
So he'd show, his face etched with a lasting frown as he focused on keeping his torso from moving more than he had to. He didn't feel like ripping open a wound again and having to rebandaged himself. Fucking pain in the ass that was.
"What is it?"

Melanie jumped when she heard the voice behind her. She spun on the seat and tangled her leg in the bars underneath. Falling out of the chair, her leg turned the wrong way and she pinched her face into a grimace to not yell out. It was his fault, but she had caused it. She pushed herself back up onto her knee (the good one) and slowly (and painfully) got back up top her feet. Her cheeks were red either from having to apologize or from the pain, the world would never know.
"Hi. I uhm, I wanted to apologize. I was stupid and emotional. I know you probably don't care, like, at all. But I still know I owe you an apology. Knowing that Krane depends on this relationship, whatever it is, has put way too much emotions than I usually have to deal with. Im not trying to make excuses. Im really not. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry."
She took a deep breath, looking at the ground. When she looked up again there were tears in her eyes.
"Please. Would you please send the message to Sean Barker."

He waved it away. The apology and everything. Instead, he zeroed in on the last bit.
"Do you even know what you are asking? What it means for Krane to be in that body?"

Melanie stared. “No. I just know the female next to Hades said it was on the table and Hades agreed. Krane had agreed as well. I don’t know anything other than there is a person who can make Krane a body. He’ll be free from his obligations and he might be with me.”
Had she said too much? Maybe. She didn’t care right then. Her knee was pounding again.

"He'll be free of one set and beholden to another. I don't know or care if you will factor into his life at all."

Melanie winced. That was mean.
“How do you mean? Are there ties to the new body?”

"Do you think such a thing comes without cost?"
Foolish girl.

Melanie kicked her self. Mentally.
“What’s the cost?”

“How can I find out?”

He'd shrug.
"Find a way to see the future. It's a new body being created for him."
Probably an experiment. So that was a thing. He'd make sure to send Hades a letter to make sure him and Krane were aware of the risks.

Melanie looked down. She knew it couldn’t be free. There were no good people anymore. No one ever did anything out of the goodness of their hearts. She didn’t have anything to say. Not right then, at least.

Melanie looked up and saw him leaving.
“Thank you. Both for listening and for the information.”
