Or at least it seemed so. He frowned as the girl brought up his stuff again, and his eyes drifted to the broken vial.

"Spell components..."

Rose is in full panic, but finally manages to find some stability as she remembers what she needed to do.

She looks through everyone once more, awkwardly walking back until she's halfway behind a chair...then kinda...kneels behind it, peering over the back.

Stealth too good.

"I-I'm Rose. Thank you..." she finally answers, apparently finding more courage hiding behind inanimate objects.

She was about to go on a spiel about her injuries being nothing in comparison to what she usually gets, but, she's suddenly interested in the magics.

"I-is there a way to f-fix them? Or g-get more?"

Because then she can blackmail at least one of them into a friendship.

John sat in the corner, reading "Bridge to Tarabithia". His eyes came over the book to the commotion and the four people gaggling around talking. Preston, and Roz. The two who smoked his ass like a canadian ham. He sniffed, and kept reading.

Melanie’s smile widened. The girl was scared. Poor thing.

“Rose. That’s a nice name. My last name is Ross. Pretty cool. It’s nice to meet you. You don’t have to be scared, dearie. I won’t bite hard.”

Her eyes wanders to Preston as his items are brought up again.

Roz's brows lifted even higher at the mention of components. There were only so many things he could work on at once. But any comment she had was set aside as the young brunette scampered away to hide behind a chair like it could protect her. She could prove her wrong, but apparently she needed a security blanket as well as reassurance. She nodded at the question.

"She has a point. If we need to make another trip, we can." She's assuming he came prepared, arms folding over her chest as she cocked a hip out to one side.

"I have a few samples left..."

But if his attempts failed then they would need another trip.

The bite comment makes her slink down just a slight bit more. She may not be too familiar with jokes of that nature. They've always been real statements in her experience.

"Th-thank you for the mercy..." she tells Melanie, appreciating the lesser sentence, regardless.

Preston having more of his samples however was not according to plan.

"W-wait. But how am I supposed to make you m-"

Rose you're not supposed to speak your thoughts out loud.

"I mean...help...you..."

Preston blinked.

"Make me what?"

He heard the half statement before it changed.

Melanie’s eyes narrowed.

“What kind of spell?”

"A magic spell to bring back the dead," Roz drawled with amusement, knowing full well what it was. Both of them seemed interested in it, but at complete opposite ends of the spectrum.

"Since I doubt it's a love tonic." Her lips twitched in a half-hidden smile. If Preston was allowed to make pirate jokes at her, then she got to make magic ones at him.

Her single-eyed gaze went back to the younger girl, also catching the social fumble and wondering just what she was up to.

She starts to sweat nervously, clinging to the chair and trying to find a regular thing to say. In the end she can't but she at least finds a way to word it...better.

"M-make you like me."

At least in her case it didn't sound like a confession of love, but an actual belief that people don't like her usually.

BUT MOVING ON FROM THAT.

"Heh...heheh...is it hard to bring back the dead? I come back all the time..."

"Well, why wouldn't I like you?"

She was obviously just shy.

He shot Roz a look and was about to say that he wasn't making a spell to bring back the dead when Rose spoke up again.

"Wait. You do?"

He was... surprised, to say the least.

Gasp! Maybe she could impress her new friends in the making with her ability!!

"I do!!! I can show you!! Go ahead! KILL ME!" she says excitedly.

He'd intone as magic wrapped around Rose to clad her in protective armor.

"Please, there is no need for that."
