Avice was given a special hunt from Cabal and one she was determined to do alone. No partners still and with a lot to think about she took it in hopes of getting this well done and vent some of her constant angst. It was some test she could only guess. She never went to the first promotion thing or whatever... Too much shit took up her time. That and she was in the hospital missing her appointment. Recieving the hunt, a Qi beast, one that is not just minding its own business obviously. She'd read the report of it's last sighting and attack and head to those locations. She'll need to retrace it's beastly steps and answer the question as to why it would end up on Cabal's naughty list. Having mostly slept in the wilds she had some experience with lesser beasts and the bigger ones usually she was able to stay away from.
First stop was where they found bodies of victims. It was fairly close to town. She could smell the aftermath of burning wood, soil, and blood as soon as you entered the trees. But before that Avice could see fresh cut stumps and new homes being built in this area. She'd assume civilization was moving too close to its home. Right now was as good of a time as any to get comfortable... That is before war shakes the land once more. While those winds have but recently quieted the tension never left the air and remains stagnant in the soil. Avice was not sure how long this will last before someone snappes. No doubt she herself wasnt going to be the first to do so.
Arriving to the torched area she can see how quickly its victims burned. Avice touched one tree and tested its strength only to hear it crack and snap from its fragile coal wounds. Any harder she'd likely cause it to fall. She'd not alert the beast of her presence just yet. She found kicked up fresh soil and found what its foot prints looked like. She'd trace them with a finger and eyeball their size. It was a beast that treads lightly and with the agility and speed to dodge most of attacks thrown at it.
She would head not straight to the foot prints trail but to the spot it was last sighted. Doing this allowes her a good area to close in on the beast when it would likely be prowling around away from home. she saw people have already thought to set up traps but while dried blood indicated they might have caught something the beast's paws indicated it might have lead other creatures into tue traps before taking them home with him. Elimiating the threat and catching an easy dinner. It was pretty smart maybe a bit lazy as the scorch marks are not apparent in this area and become less and less so the more she looked.
She raised her perception and viewed the grounds of which she stood. Spotting blood trails, fur, and tracks centering on one direction. Like others before her they'd get this far in finding the creature. At leasts its hunting grounds.
Avice would slip use her cloak and raise herself into a tree before taking off her back pack and finding a good perch to watch. Oh she could find its den but that would be backing it into a corner and she'd feel it would have a much greater advantage than she would. That was his territory and not at all known to her. She strapped her bag to that branch and would do a bit of her own hunting. Finding rodents and so on she would toss the creatures in a trap. If it bled good, if it screamed better... It would draw the Qi beast to come with salivateing jaws. She re-arranged a couple of the traps to make this her playing field. She knew this place better than it did now.
Going back up the tree she pulled out some dried fruit and meat of her own and waited.
She waited
and waited.
It was about to get dark which would leave her at a slight disadvantage with her monochromia. When the shadows melded together it was hard to desern between a tree and a man or a beast.
However there it was. Looking just like its picture too. She took a moment to take in how it moved and the softness of its fluffy tails. She watched it sniff at the meer hours old bait. The meat of the creature might bw cold now but it didn't look like the beasty was going to complain. He wrapped its gnarly teeth over half its prey and patted a paw to hold the trap ripping it in half and feasting before digging the other half from the other side of the teethed trap. Avice watched te creature as it viewed the area while it ate. Obviously the recent invasion left it on guard. But still didnt seen to detect Avice as she sat high up and still, taking light and quiet breaths.
It walked over to the next trap of bait and Avice watched it's feet this time as its front paw bulls-eyed a trap she replaced with out its awareness. With that and its violent howling. She lept before it showing herself. Violence in its eyes as it spotted her. She squared her shoulders as it snarled she growled in her own way baiting it to challenge her. Its paws lit up anf bright Qi claws erupted from its toes slicing the trap with ease. A hot knife though butter as it were. It was free and not at all slowed as the creature came for her. Avice drew her own Qi blade as to show him. "I can do that too..." the blade would cast a glow to her grin and it stopped in its tracks watching her as she held it infront of her. They took a couple of steps in a circle before Avice broke his gaze and darted across the field using her watch all that was heard was a simple click and she reappeared ten feet from where she was. Seeing the creatures confusion and growing annoyance. She was ready as he darted for her.
The forest lit up as it blasted fire in her direction. She would leap out of its way feeling the heat lick her fleshy shoulder. She kept running and only looking over her shoulder to see it chase. And once more hearing it howl in more pain as metal teeth would clamp shut over its thin agile ankles.
She stopped there and pulled out her gun taking the moment to shoot it further injuring the beast while it struggled to free itself. Giving up it ripped the traps from the ground and took cover. Once it was out of her line of sight she would hold her gun and inch towards it. Hearing the metal fall and things go quiet she stopped and watched for it. Her raising perception heard its heart beat and she could tell it was alive. When it quickly lept to the top of the rock and lept again with glowing claws she noticed it had not a spot of blood on its body!
She got a couple of shots off before it was on top of her and jaws bitting into her shoulder causing a cry to escape her lips its claws burned into her arm and she could not currently feel the gun within her reach. Her metal hand tried to push it off but the more she struggled the more it would bite and begin to tear her shoulder threatening to take her whole arm and chest with it. Her metal hand wasnt closing and she flet it jerking with pain everytime she tried... It was busted she could only guess.
It jerked a good and hard once more causing her to howl a short bit before it cut off as she gurgled some blood that made its way through her throat. She felt her wound become hot and watched as heat rose from its fangs it was readying to seend fire into her insides! She took the opportunity to leap for it and bit into its shoulder to begin healing herself while still trying her janked metal arm. She drank its blood and finally a flash of light appeared in the darkness she half's thought it the fire had finally came through her but feeling the sudden weight on her fall limp she released her grip on its flesh and saw her blade through the top of its skull. She kept breathing as her wounds healed and released the creature of her blade shoving it to the side.
She laid down in the grass, dirt, and blood savoring the victory. She looked at her metal hand as. Three of the finger joints were bent backwards she grimaced at the sight and the pain. It was moved by her Qi and she could feel the connection just as well.
The job was done.
She would head back to Cabal with her kill in tow. She cut off one of it's tails and would take it to pay for the repairs. She would visit John bearing this gift.
