A certain soldier has been experiencing headaches the day after his conversation with Mr. Steele. Whether it be in his tent or during his six-to-eight exercise periods, it came and went however it pleased. Currently, such a headache ravaged his skull whilst dealing with "Homestead" guards. While oddly capable, they had little in regards to aligning with proper formation. At least half of them weren't in standard posture, either. Regardless, they only had melee weapons the majority of the time; barely parallel to Axton's expertise. The soldier, with his "cohort", took one final step before an abrupt stop. The area nearby was haphazardly scouted for field training purposes. Admittedly unsure of their prior training besides Mr. Steele's "they're capable" comments, Axton was to test their ability himself. For now, he'd prepare the course of action with simpler tasks.
"Set up camp; all of you. I'll keep watch for wildlife."
The third-to-last guard in the fractured formation rolled his eyes as he threw a pack full of immediate amenities over his shoulder. The remainder got to work setting up temporary camp. At least "Homestead" had this sort of equipment, at least. Meanwhile, Axton busied himself with briefly looking over his own supply. Tasking himself with watch duty, this portion of the look-over must be done under one minute.
Three seconds: canteen of water, adult male-sized bedroll, three MREs from the caved-in pit. Eight seconds: a M19XX revolver, with no bullets available. Ten seconds: scuffed, nicked, and dull combat knife from the pit. Fifty-seven seconds: a bolt-action rifle from Mr. Steele; pulling back the bolt to reveal the chamber, it was filled with ammunition Axton hadn't ever seen before. What a damn mystery this rifle was, from the ammo alone, even. Axton was tempted to grumble over how terrible that time was; nearly breaching sixty seconds. Patting himself over for final checkups, the soldier shifted his gaze around and about to begin watch. The soldier wasn't expecting much.
