Her thoughts were filled with everything in the past. Today, for some odd reason... it just hit her hard. And Kate had thought she had gotten past it all. But it just hit her this morning, when she woke up.
It could be because she hadn't seen Hiroko in awhile. And her fear of being left again was seemingly coming to life. It hadn't been that long, and yet it ate at her....and everything came back. They had all left. And caused her so much pain.
The blonde hadn't trusted herself with driving. Not today. And thus she had walked, restlessly wandering around the city. Her camo printed airwalks had stumbled around with her feet, a pair of old jeans and a simple green t-shirt was all she wore. Her hair was down in curls, and she didn't even have her purse or her cell phone. Just her keys, attached to her belt loop.
Kate turned, stumbling into an alley was to catch her breath. She felt so...crippled. The green eyed girl hated crying, and yet there were tears falling down her heart shaped face. Why? Because she remembered what she felt like after they left... and how frightened she had been in the hospital after Mathew had jumped her. Those white walls, the constant rise and fall of the heart monitor. The pain in her arm in between her meds. The feel of Jester's skin next to hers, when all along he had been raping other girls.
Her father's words on the phone.
The crazy man, locked up in the loony bin because he wouldn't pay the mob back. So they had... tortured him. Messed with his insides, castrated him...the list went on. She had felt sick when the doctor had told her. The one time she had visited him before he had died. Suicide, killed himself with his own bed sheets. And what had reminded her of him?
Her step mother was dying. The dark skinned India native was finally dying after so many years in that coma. Kate would have no family left. No one. The tears streamed down her face, until she saw shoes stop in front of her. Three pairs actually, and a gruff voice broke the traffic filled silence.
"Yo, wanna have fun chickie?" A gruff laugh, and a hand reached out for the blonde. Not exactly the best idea with Kate at the moment. Not in the state she was in. Her own hand shot out, grabbing his.
"Yeah, I'll have fun fucking your face in with my shoe."
The blonde was up and among them in a matter of seconds. Kicking up and bringing her heel down on the front man's nose, she broke it and floored him in one go. Without pause she turned to the next one. Shifting her weight as the foot landed on the ground, Kate kicked out on her other foot. A swift kick to the family jewels brought out a groan. He'd be a good boy for a few minutes.
The third one took a step back, and the blonde reached out quickly. They were so weak compared to her....and yet she didn't give a damn. She wanted them to hurt. To pour all this pain she was feeling into them. Her hands spun him around, then her arms locked about his waist.
Flipping back, she stretched out, her body going into a upside down "u" shape. The guy's neck slammed into the ground, knocking him out in an instant. The pale girl let the slack body fall from her arms, and stood back up. Her bright green eyes had stopped crying, for the moment. She took a step forward, yes.... one more to knockout and leave. Just one more. The guy was just recovering from the kick to the family jewels. Just one more, and she could go back to crying.

Valekin was not the way he once was. Now he was a monster, a fiend.. a demon. He stalked the streets looking for prey like some creature of the night. Feeding on the hearts and innards of his enemies and the stupid. One thing that remained with him from when he was sane; he had a commitment to certain people. His friends, if he could find them. No one fucks with his friends and gets away with it. The first thing she'd hear before seeing him would be the unsheathing of the knife Talon.
SHHHHINK!
Then she'd see his right hand reach out to the man from the darkness, grabbing shoulder and plunging his clawlike nails into it. His fingers sank into the man's shoulder, just as Valekin put the blade through the man's chest. It poked out the other side, it's golden hue glittering a little. Blood ran from blade to the ground like a fount. Yet Valekin wasn't done; he didn't simply pull the knife from the body, he ripped it out through the side of the man, blood and bone splattering to their left; Kate's right. Oddly, not a drop would touch her.
Vale let the body fall, and stepped into the light. His elliptical eyes focused on her, and his memory kicked in. He knew her.. that was Kate. One of the few people that ever really tried to get to know him. His eyes softened, no longer possessing the madness that ruled them. That underlying insane aura remained, but wasn't brimming with hostile energy towards her. The blade that he used on the man was sheathed.
"We meet again. This time not at a beach, but in an alley. Why is sad Kate in an alley crying?"
Nevermind the fact that he just ripped the man apart, and blood was dripping from his right hand's digits. His appearance was different, tattooed, scarred, pierced. For one he looked much sexier. For two, he looked totally insane.

Her eyebrows lifted as the blade ripped through the man's chest. Dead. The man was dead...and the blonde didn't care. She felt...numb. Cold on the inside yet again. Who had killed him? Vale. Wonderful Valekin...who wasn't himself anymore.
"Because the world is so...fucked up...and I can't care anymore."
A laugh escaped her lips, and at the same time those tears were back. Her lean frame slumped against the alley wall. Damn, to laugh and to cry at the same time. Was she crazy? Who knew.
"I just don't want to hurt."
What to do? She wanted to fling everything away. Morals, societies standards, and just live. That would be fun. Just wander around, having fun. Kate had the cash to do it. What was holding her back?
She wanted to be loved. She wanted to love. To feel safe in some one's arms, and know they weren't going anywhere. That everything was alright, and nothing would change. Kate had craved that since her freshman year. Her body slowly slid to the ground. Her laughter had stopped, and now there were only tears. Why couldn't she just have what she wanted?

"Now now, you feel the pain that is to be human. Everyone hurts, and no one wants to. The world is fucked up because we're human, and we can't change that. Come now, let's leave this sick underground and go somewhere, a bit more pleasant shall we?"
He reached his hand down to take her hand and pick her up. Immediately he reminded himself of Yuri. The adopted brother that was always there to pick him up. It seems, that even in insanity, he followed his example. Valekin still had his admirable qualities. That lovely accent, his ridiculous nobility. He just lost his mind, and his religion. Now he was filled with empathy.
You might wonder how someone so twisted could feel someone else's pain. Well, something has to happen for them to become twisted, correct? That is why twisted people identify with emotions, and feelings. Not so much logic. He was insane, but he was still there, underneath it all.
"Come now. The pain will stop."

Kate sat there for a moment, the blankness that was her mind took over. Nothing more than sitting there, waiting for some one to come along and call the cops about the dead body. Her hand reached out and clasped his.
The blonde stood there, after getting to her feet, and yet she still felt numb. From here, she'd just follow Vale. Let him guide her to where ever...Kate didn't care. She didn't want to care. All she wanted was...what again?
That accent, Kate remembered hearing it for the first time. So raspy, his English wasn't as good. Sitting there in detention. And then later, so silkily smooth. Sitting in his apartment, with the only lights being candles, cuddled up on the couch.
Why couldn't it have stayed that way?
"When did you get all those tattoos Vale?"
He had changed so much...but so had she. That was life right? Kate felt one thing in the middle of this numbness. She wanted to hold Valekin, and soothe whatever beast had made him this way. She wanted the old Valekin back...and yet she knew she couldn't have him. Life was such a bitch.

What are you talking about, crazy Vale is just as good as sane Vale! He stopped for a moment, leading her to his car. She asked him a question, what did she ask again? Oh yes, tattoos. Wait, Tattoos? When DID he get the tattoos?
"Uhm.... I don't remember... exactly.... come on! TO THE BATMOBILE!"
Oh dear god. He's in silly insanity mode. This couldn't get anyworse. Luckily for Kate, it was not a bat mobile. Just an 07 Corvette. A nice black Corvette. He'd let her in the passenger's side, then close that door, go around and get in on his side. What a crazed gentleman. Key in the ignition, emergency brake off. Gas pedal down... all the way.
Now don't get me wrong. Vale is a good driver. By good I mean fast. And by fast I mean 30+ over the speed limit.
That's not dangerous at all, he drove a tank into a mall, and down an alley. Now that's dangerous. He was totally confident that he wouldn't get into an accident. Mostly because he was crazy. The rest of the reason was because he was a teenager.
"Ha ha ha ha ha, American's are sooooo slow on the road. KEEP UP GRANDPA!"
He actually said it to another teenager.... who promptly flipped him off, and turned down a different street. What... a fine spring day.

She slid into the seat of the corvette... and only one thing came to mind. Kate preferred the 06 series with the Z-06 model. Faster...better...looked more like the bat mobile. The headlights flipped up. Sexy really.
"I'm not a slow driver. So not all American's are."
Not that her mini-cooper could keep up with this. No, the little car was cute. She looked good driving it... but no, she didn't have it souped up with anything. Maybe she should...
Relaxing back in the seat, Kate watched the side streets whip by. At least she wasn't feeling so numb. No, racing down the street way above the speed limit gave her a thrill. A small little smile began to work it's way on her lips. They weren't glossed for once. Kate rubbed the back of her hands on her face, to wipe away any tears that were still there. Dad was gone. Hiroko was gone. Now Mom was gone. Life had reached it's dead end for Kate. She didn't know what to do.

I find that whenever you reach rock bottom, that the only place left to go is up. It's a long climb, but it is well worth it. Because then you won't make the same mistakes. Things'll be better, and you'll feel like you've accomplished more because it was all done by your hands.
"Hee hee hee... Now we TURN!"
The tires screeched and burned as he turned into the industrial quarter, only a few more minutes until he reached his factory. Inside of which; he was putting together parts for his 07. Armor plating, a new engine system, flamethrower exhaust pipe system. It wasn't very long before they came to a screeching halt right before plowing into a tractor trailer, inside of the garage of the factory. Which he aptly named the Tijger's lair.
The partician closed and he got out of the vehicle, walked around and opened the door for her. Some things would never change. All those years living in a royal court did somethings to some people. And other things to other people. He'd lead her through the factory to his little apartment next to the control room. It had a desk, a bed, a couch that looked like it had been in a dorm room, but was ridiculously comfy, and an odd looking computer. He had some chemical cooking on a mini-stove, and it was hooked up to jumper cables which was hooked to three car batteries.
"Pick a spot and get comfortable. Welcome to my... lair!"

"What a lair. But at least you don't live with a house full of men."
Kate's own home was filled with them. One even being her ex-boyfriend. Funny how things worked out sometimes, right? She looked around his little studio appearing room, then promptly sat down on the couch. Kicking off her airwalks, the blonde pulled her feet under her and looked around.
She looked at Vale, the piercings and the tattoos. He couldn't even remember when he had gotten the latter. Psycho. The bright green eyes watched him, studying every move he made. No she wasn't numb, but she felt cold on the inside again. All the ice Hiroko had chipped away was freezing around her heart again. Maybe this time it would stay.
"So...Valekin whatever your last name was again... you still don't have that lizard....do you?" Her eyes strayed away. That thing... his room mate had. Kate didn't like things like that....and if it was still around, she just might leave. Damned things.

"Lizard? Nope, He's with Yuri. Can I get anything for you? Need to talk or something?"
Inside his madness boiled and swirled. Turning in on itself and exploding rhythmatically. He sat down near the mini stove and grabbed a pair of prongs, dipped them into the solution, and pulled out a nail covered in a ridiculous amount of rust. With a scalpel he shaved off the rust onto a piece of cloth, and put the withering nail back into the electrolized solution. Then he stuck the very tips of his long hair into the solution, and brought it out. A thermite dye. It turned the ends of the hair nearly silver. With a nearby towel he dried his hair, then strode over to the couch and sat next to her, left leg on his right knee, arms crossed.
"So, your world has been turned upside down. Is that it? I'm here my friend... I may be a little different than I was.. but I'm still here."
A little different, the guy practically had elf ears, snake eyes, and vampire fangs and claws. Sexy? Depends on your taste. He wasn't perfect, but he was a friend. And chances were he could relate to her. The maniac was at rock bottom. Someone had to help him up. Right? He couldn't do it alone, his mind couldn't handle it.

Kate could only thank God by the fact that the lizard wasn't here. The blonde sighed when Vale sat down. A talk... yeah, she needed to talk. Maybe explaining it all would help her work through everything. Maybe.
"Four years ago...I came to New York because someone shot my step mother and my father was on the run. I didn't find out until later why...but it was because my father didn't want to pay the mob what he owed them. He was greedy, and thought he could always get what he wanted."
Her eyes closed as she continued on with her story. It was a bit hard for her to go through.
" And he signed over all his money and companies to me...believing he could take them back when everything was settled. Sent me off to New York. I dated a few guys...but the same thing always happened. They always left me. I came to have a problem then. I wanted attention. I still want it. I want to be loved by a man... because of everyone who left me. Yourself included, sorry. Junior year, right after you left... I joined Colossai thinking I could have a family there. I walked into a sinking ship. The gang was dying, and despite everything I tried...it was still sinking."
Her fingers clutched the sleeves of her shirt. Fun, walking down memory lane.
" I became a high ranking member in the gang. And because of it, I was targeted by the rival gang. Reign of Blood. They sent out a group of people to jump me. The guy shattered my right arm, cut off my hair, beat the shit out of me, and carved ROB into my back. I still have the scars. Right after that I found out my father had been tortured by the mob. They had caught up to him. He was in the loony bin when I found him. The things they did to him...still make me sick. He killed himself shortly afterward by suffocation with his own bedsheets. Then I found out my boyfriend at the time, whom I had slept with, was raping girls. Innocent girls. I don't know exactly why... but he was the one I left. The only one."
Damn this was hard.
"So I moved here. Back home... to get away from it all. I ran into Hiroko... I had a crush on him my freshman year...he pretty much saved my life then. We started dating....except it happened again. He left...when he swore he wouldn't. And now... this morning...I got the call. My step mother who has been in a coma since I left Cali the first time... is dying. I won't have anyone left... any family. No one who loves or would care. Life is fucked up."
She finished her story, feeling ready to cry again. She gritted her teeth. But there, it was all out for Vale. He knew everything now.

"S'alright. I know what it's like. Makes you feel like you can't trust anyone, da? So what are you going to do now, eh? Sounds like you're at rock bottom. Lucky thing about that is... you can only go up from here, da?"
He would have snickered, but that was inappropriate. He sat on that comfortable couch for a moment, thinking. Which doesn't do much, he usually gets distracted when he's thinking. Puppies... thermite.. tanks... cell phone ring tones... What's santa gonna get me? Oh; right. Kate's distressed. He needed a way to help her. Not being able to help a friend makes one feel so helpless, you know? Valekin sighed and tucked some hair behind his ear.
"Well.. I can help you the best I can with whatever you need. Alright? I'm here now, in your time of need. Didn't I say I would be?"
He chuckled a little at that. Hardly believing his own ears. He had been through so much before he moved to California, his sister's deaths. His mother's death. Killing Nicholai and Maria. It was just a bloody trail that brought him here. Now he felt awkward, what was he supposed to do in this situation? Give her a hug? Maybe? He didn't know; he just guessed. And hugged her from the side while on the couch.

It was weird. Vale was hugging her, and Kate relaxed. Maybe there was only going up. Those green green eyes seemed dull for the moment. She had poured out her story, and the blonde felt drained.
"Or maybe I'll just stick around at the rock bottom and be like this. Seems fun enough."
A joke, she chuckled slightly. Her own pale hands rested onto Vale's. Yeah, he was a friend she needed. The only one she really had at this moment.
"Thanks Vale. I needed this more than I even realized. Maybe beating up street thugs wasn't the best idea...but I didn't kill one at least." She poked his hands. Had it scared her? The fact that a murderer was hugging on to her? Nope. That person was Vale... and she'd never be afraid of him.

"Eh... I didn't kill him... it was surgery. Yes SURGERY ON HIS BONES AND KIDNEYS!!!... Sorry.... Outburst. But you're very welcome. Anytime. Would you like anything?"
It's odd how some people are so afraid of him that they'll run. And how some will never be afraid of him. Odd how he reacts differently to different people. He's only consistent in dealing with certain people a certain way. Most males are dealt with violently, because they feel threatened by him. Most females are dealt without physical harm, because he's old world European and doesn't believe in hurting women if it isn't necessary. He'll scare them, but he won't hurt them.
"Hee hee hee hee hee..."
What the hell was he laughing at? That's right.. he has moments where he has laughter fits without anything to provoke them. Maybe he found that the fact that they both were at rock bottom was entertaining. Maybe not. Who knows when you're dealing with insanity.

"You're...weird now Vale."
She smirked lightly, chuckling to herself. Odd little Valekin. She had cared for him way back when, and she did now as well. Maybe a little differently. Then Vale was a love interest... and now he was the only friend left that she felt she could trust. Even if he was insane...he wouldn't hurt her. Maybe he wouldn't even leave her. That would be nice.
"But I guess we all change right?"
She leaned over, her head resting on his shoulder as she relaxed. Just relax...just calm down and take life one moment at a time. That's all she needed to do for the moment.
"I want another tattoo. What should I get?" Random thoughts pressed through it all.
