Jacob made his way to the desk and hovered a second before dropping the book to the counter.
“I’d like this.”
Once done he would make his way back to Faye.
“Let’s go.”
Monotone.

Jacob rolls up his sleeves and gives an almost half smile to Faye over his shoulder.
“Vieni da me, nuvole. Possa tu sorgere come una tempesta malvagia nata per dividerli. La notte di maggio testimonia e distrugge coloro che resistono, quindi non mi faranno del male. Lascia che il sangue di molti mi purifichi, preservando la bellezza eterna, ti prego.”
By this point, Jacob’s hands are raised higher and his voice has risen feverishly.
And....
Nothing happens. Nothing. There might be a slight breeze but aside from that... nada.
Jacob half turns back to Faye.
“This doesn’t usually happen.”
He’s embarrassed.

Faye's eyes gaze around when he's done.
What was she supposed to see here.
Her eyes settle back on him when he explains, and she blinks.
"I'm sure it doesn't."
She lies.

He looks away and around the area. It was nice. Then again anything away from the cute girl and her watchful eyes was nice. Embarrassed. So embarrassed.

Jacob looks up at her and sighs. Pulling his shoulder from her hands he turns and looks at her.
“Maybe it’s that one. I haven’t had much practice with it. I could try another one?”
He was hopeful. But really, his first meeting with another student was a lovely girl and he was showing his impotence. Then again, maybe he wasn’t so hopeful.
