Jacob made his way through the field. Looking around and sighing. He had only just joined the academy and was already on a squad. This wasn’t the worst thing, but still. He had hoped for free time alone. Now it seemed he would have to spend it with others. Jacob enjoyed his solitude.

Soni Vox, Allen Hollows

Soni would be laying the tall grass of the plain, her cat ear headphones pillowing her ears. There werent many sounds singing through the field, and all of them she had already heard, so she figured she'd just listen to her music and enjoy the warmth of the sun as well as the shade that passed over anytime the occasional cloud intercepted the rays. 

She had read on a poster board back at school that squad were going on, and apparently there was a meeting around this position. She certainly didn't want to let her team down, so she made sure to get their early. And she had been waiting ever since. 

But now, unbeknownst to her, a stranger was coming. Normally, her above average hearing would have picked up on it but the music nullified that ability. Instead, she'd be laying their eyes closed, ears covered, right where Jacob was walking, and if he took another step itd be right on her chest!

Jacobs saw the girl lying in the grass, obviously enjoying herself. He stopped and waited a moment. He didn’t want to disturb her, but figured she was one of his teammates. In the end he decided to nudge her foot with his.

“Hi.”

Allen emerged from the school, walking over to the meeting point with hands in his pockets.

"You two my new partners?"

He grinned, offering his hand.

"Names Allen. Pleasure."

Jacob looked up from the girl. Finally another person. Oh no. Another person. Now there were two on one. He gave a short quick nod.

“Jacob.”

He offered his own hand.

[Soni Vox]

Soni's eyes shot open and she spazzed. "AH CHEESES CRUST DON'T SNEAK UP ON PEOPLE LIKE THAT DUDE!" she griped as she stood up and wiped herself off. By the time she was up, another had walked up and said something as he held out his hand, but she had never been one for reading lips and her music remained blasting (even though her headphones were in a funk from the spazzing). She had no idea what he said; probably some greeting. Or maybe his name, seeing as how the guy who woke her up gave his name and the new guy didn't respond with his.

In any case, she figured she'd join in the greetings. "Soni," she gave with a two fingered salute.

Both of these guys were somewhat attractive. One of them was definitely older and more fit, and the one that wasn't had something of a darkness about his tattooed body, but they both had looks to boast. Some girls might consider themselves lucky to be in a squad with two "hot" guys, but Soni, not really interested in such things, figured they'd probably become more like big brothers more than anything, depending on how much squads actually did with each other and how often.

He blinked a couple times.

"Alright. We fighting?"

This was.....training, right?

Jacob looked from Soni to Allen.

“Why not?”

Yes. That was very good. Well thought as well. Truly inspirational.

[Soni Vox]

Soni looked between the two. She discovered over the past couple of days that she actually enjoyed fighting for the most part, but were these guys really serious? Exchange greetings and just, fight? Well, she didn't want to make her frail and timid appearance seem accurate....

"Sure yea I guess," she added, shrugging.

Allen got to know someone best, especially team mates, by testing them first.

He threw up two clawed hands, and two stone pillars would shoot out of the ground to try and smash Soni and Jacob in the abdomen at the same time the earth would seem to slide under their feet.

Ability #2: Stone Mason - Allen can generate and control concrete and earth/rocks/boulders, manipulating them into other items for use in combat. These items can be anything he wishes, Allen even capable of changing them into other things like gold, silver, or diamonds. Once they are of this structure, however, he cannot change them back, and they can only be controlled within 20 feet of his form. Once outside the 20 foot radius, they lose their life like quality and cannot be controlled. He can manipulate them in the air, at a distance (so long as he's touched and absorbed/created them already, and they are within the 20 foot radius.)

Jacob wouldn’t even see the hit coming. He moved so fast. There wasn’t even time to react. He was standing there one second. And the next, he was on his ass.

“Oh.”

Was all he said. The world around him began to shift into a vast ocean. The ground dropped near them appearing as they were all within a circle of land and the rest dropped low revealing the ocean hundreds of feet below them. The ‘arena’ as it were only appeared to be 50 feet in diameter.

Strength: Since the Qi is an illusion, they cannot be moved physically, except for where Jacob moves them to. These lights can either be very bright, or extremely dim.

Weakness: Jacob doesn’t know he has it. Even once he does, he can hardly control it. The real problem with his Qi, is that it shimmers. Just on the edges signifyin that it’s not real.

Soni flew to the ground along with Jacob, her much lighter body going a bit further. Things seemed to have gone from 0 to 100 very quickly. She struggled to stand back up, coughing. Once she was up, she noticed the world around her had changed a lot. They were high above an ocean now. Her immediate instinct was to freak out. The adrenaline that was already pumping after beginning the fight began to increase, but then she noticed...something was off about it. She knew what the ocean sounded like. She had taken a trip with Veronica to the beach one time. That sound, like all sounds, stayed in her mind. What she heard now... it wasn't it. Plus there was.. some sort of strange effect on the rim of her vision. It was an illusion of some sort, probably conjured by one of the two guys. Then again, she had no reason to go outside of the circle that was set up. She'd just keep that tabbed in her mind.

She also noticed that her rest tattoo began to glow. And she felt..more powerful. Like the Qi (as everyone called it) she used was bolder. Not only was her tattoo glowing, but so was...

Jacob stood up and leaned over the 'edge' of the ring, peering down. upon hearing a scream, he looked over and spotted David... Lying on his back screaming his head off. Either of his arms and legs were straight up as if he was falling; a smile crawls over Jacob's face and he turns to face Soni who is taking the 'arena' rather well. Damn.

"How do you like the view?" Jacob calls over the sounds of the ocean.

Soni sees David falling off the cliff.

Well, there went that guy. Never learned his name. What a shame. Now it was just her and Jacob.

"It's pretty, actually! Nice work!" Soni replied with her eyes squinted, giving a hint that she'd be smiling under the mask. "The shimmering is kind of annoying though, not gonna lie," she added, tapping corner of her eye. Her other hand would be out and ready, but also by her side casually.

Jacob smiled now.

"Impressive."

He'd take a step towards her, casually. Not at all seeming aggressive or defensive.

"I know what he can do. You know what I can do. What can you do?"
