OOC: Name: It Never Ends! Requirements: Approved Character, 800 posts Job: The life events never end! Character Development! Bonus: Write a continuation from a "It's happening again" assignment. LinkPayout: +4 exp, +$300 IC: While the exams continued on Blake had other matters to attend to while he awaited their conclusion and his official announcement. But time did not stop for him or Aurora, and there were still matters to be attended to. One such matter involved the Neutral territory of Camelot, home of King Arthur and the Knights of the Roundtable. By all accounts distinguished warriors to the man. And the King was said to rule with compassion and honor. Blake did not arrive with much fanfare. A small contingent of guards and dignitaries with him, and Beatrice floating around behind him was all he took. A standard bearer and a token honor guard. Though Blake felt comfortable defending himself if the need arose. But Beatrice insisted appearances mattered as did putting your best foot forward.

A large African American man in a kimono with grey hair and a beard would approach the group arriving through the main road. They would find shops of all kinds lined up like a bazaar food, weapons, armor, materials, clothing, jewelry. Though no housing to lay eye on except a spars house here or there.
"Hello there."
The man would speak out to the group with his right hand and a smile.
"Welcome, I am Weigrif, kind of the towns representative, and protector. If you are weary from your travels we have an inn and lodgings, though nothing fancy I'm afraid. I can only offer hospitality."

Blake would bring a fist to his chest and nod at the man.
"Greetings Weigrif. Your hospitality is as refreshing as the first rain of spring. I have little doubt that whatever accommodations we can find will be more than sufficient for our needs."
He'd eye the man up and down before taking a step forward away from his honor guard.
"I am Blake Oleander, King of Aurora and I wish to speak with King Arthur. Are you who I would speak with to see that happen Representative Weigrif?"

Weigrif would eye the man himself, king of the newly formed Aurora and he was well informed as he had heard.
"On an unofficial note King Arthur is here and available, though we would prefer if that were kept a bit more... Secret. I can arrange for my Liege Lord to speak with you. If I may request your intentions so I can prepare him appropriately."
Weigrif would give a polite bow while addressing Blake in respect to his announced position.

"I wish to discuss the possibility of Camelot joining Aurora and pooling our might and culture together."
He saw no reason to not be blunt and honest about his intentions.

That actually left Weigrif kind of speechless. He would open his mouth to speak, but only a soft breath would escape before he would nod.
"As you say. Please, rest at the Inn while I bring your message to my King."

He'd bring his fist to his chest again and bow his head.
"My thanks for your help Representative Weigrif."
He'd turn to his men and motion for them to follow him to the inn as requested.

It would only take about thirty minutes before Weigrif would return with a young man who was all wide smiles. He wore a normal tunic and vest with trousers and boots. He had a sword at his hip and even Weigrif was wearing leather hunting gear with a sword at his hip. Weigrif would be closing the store so they wouldn't be interrupted.
The blond would approach and give a courtly bow.
"Hi there! I'm Arthur Pendragon, King of Camelot. I have been told many stories of your accomplishments King Oleander and can't wait to get to know you!"

He brought his fist to his chest and bowed respectfully to King Arthur in return.
"It is an honor to meet you King Arthur Pendragon. I admire that you have the respect and loyalty of your people at such a young age, and have been able to sustain such a pleasant lifestyle for your people. While maintaining independence. It is no small accomplishment."

"I can only take credit for the last two or three years. Weigrif, Merlin, and my father are the reasons for Such success, if nothing else the strongest possible foundation."
He would move to take a seat while waving for Blake to do the same.
"However tale is spun even here of how you rose up, bringing truth and hope to your people, over coming impossible circumstances, migration, attack. Then turning a single territory into a three advanced and prosperous states in their own right. Conquest, romance, even saving the sick and dieing all to rise from humble warrior to King of a free people. I would argue such tales are something to aspire to."

"We all work with what we are given. You did not squander what was given to you, and three years is a long time to allow things to go wrong."
He would remark as he took his own seat while Beatrice fanned herself beside him.
"My life belongs to my people and to Aurora. To dedicate my every breath to bettering the lives of those that would follow me is an honor I strive to be worthy of each day."
He'd shift before meeting Arthur's gaze.
"I will point out that overcoming the obstacles before me only proves they were not impossible though."

"No nobler cause than the betterment and protection of your people. One of the reasons we do not openly rule this territory. It would only invite challengers and enemies."
He'd nod, though at Blake's other comment about the impossible.
"As you say. The impossible is sometimes only something we see as daunting or beyond imagining. It takes one to show others it is so before it can be seen as otherwise."
Arthur would grin.
"But, I must digress to the point of our meeting. I'm not a very busy King, but I'm sure being away from your people is not ideal. Weigrif has spoken to me of your proposal, at least in the most basic of ways. I would be lying if I said I was not skeptical of the position this would put us in. My father made the choice of Independence from The God's due to a lack of appropriate and earned station... I do not know how Two Kings could coexist in a single government."

"King is but a title, a word. Months ago I was Elder. Before that I was nothing. The vision I have is not one of subjection or dishonor for you or yours. Nor do I wish to see you forsake the culture that you have built here. Continue to call yourself King if you'd like, call me High King or whatever title you feel is appropriate should we reach an agreement. I am not worried about words."
He'd lean in, Beatrice paying more attention as they began to speak for real now.
"I would let you run Camelot much as you had with somewhat I'd imagine are reasonable adjustments. Limited military service and training for all adults. Open borders with the rest of Aurora for resettlement as needed and desired. Those living here have the same freedom to move and live anywhere inside our Kingdom as well. I will finance and supply the materials to extend our walls around these lands and to build a teleportation crystal allowing it to join the Aurora network. Culturally it has been my experience that we will naturally mix and adapt as the new Kingdom of Aurora takes the best parts of all of our pasts to forge its future.
I would ask that you would report to me, much as the council of 249 does. But I have no desire to stop you from commenting and honoring those who serve you as you always have. As for fear of status, it is something I have given thought to. I feel that the best example I can give would be how I envision succession for when I inevitably die. Should you wish to continue hearing me out. Though, if you have questions or concerns up to this point I strongly urge you to be candid. I take no offense at your skepticism."
Beatrice would be proud. It was hard to imagine he'd ever talk so much just a year ago. And yet, here he was now. Thanks in large part to her help and guidance.

Arthur would give it some thought taking a deep breath and letting it out resting his head on a hand over the table, but his face was not bored. He was focused watching Blake's body language. Blake would notice it was much the same he was trained to watch an opponent when in a duel. Arthur however had no intention leaving his form, and a warm smile as usual, he honestly likely looked a bit dopey.
"I'd rather hear the whole pitch before adding my two coins."

He nodded his head and would continue.
"I am a warrior and my people are the same at heart. To our core. Many things about us may change as we grow and more come to call us Brother and Sister, but that I do not see changing.
I would like to see my children trained and taught by representatives of each territory under Aurora's banner. When it comes time for my heir to ascend the throne each territory will have a chance to challenge them for it in ritual combat should they find the heir unworthy. Likewise for the current royal family, in this case mine. It is more important to me that Aurora has the right leadership than one based purely on blood relation. I think this method will allow me to prepare an heir while allowing the various peoples under Aurora a way to see that we are all represented by a leader worthy of us."
