Overview
Although engaging in social activity is one of Mao's favorite things to do, she's ironically shy when it comes to meeting someone for the first time. Her words are often set to betray this initial unease however. In her mind, occasional "white lies" are necessary to "keep the peace". But seeing that she's a hard working and responsible individual by nature, she stands by the truth when it comes to very serious matters and the consequences that lie ahead of them.
Since she was very young, Mao always wanted to seem like a mature person, striving to become an "adult" long before actually coming of age. That said, it's probably the most childish trait about her, though it stands as her driving force to be helpful to others. Despite her great common sense and down-to-earth way of thinking, Mao remains a big dreamer, setting aside her personal goals only for those she cares about and in dire situations.
Notable Aspects
-)Compassionate:Mao is very considerate of people and their day-to-day troubles and suffering. Because of this, she often caters to them, though more often behind the scenes. An example of this would be if she knows a friend enjoys coffee of a morning; after learning how they prefer said coffee, she'll start waking up earlier to prepare it for them without being asked. Perhaps this can bother people, but it's just her way of making the lives of people easier, even if just by a little bit.
-)Hard Working:This goes for anything and everything. Mao isn't proud of very much, but she can at least find pride in the effort she puts forth in work, hobbies, helping others, and anything else she finds herself doing. She's and absolute 120% kind of person.
-)Prone To Self-Deteriorating:Being the work-a-holic she is, along with the fact she takes others before herself, she very often neglects to take care of herself, missing sleep, meals, and what-have-you. It hasn't caused any big problems yet, but it's unhealthy never the less. And when stuck on an island with superhumans, it certainly doesn't make her any tougher in comparison...
-)Forgetful:Mao finds joy in concerning herself with other people's problems along with her own, but in taking on an ever increasing number of responsibilities, she becomes very forgetful from time to time. This doesn't simply include what's mentioned above, but in waking up to make someone's coffee, she may forget to start someone else's tea.-Just for example. On another occasion, she may promise to hang out with a friend, and immediately forget about it after being asked out to lunch for the same evening.
Mentality:
"Logical and observant, yet flawed by emotion; an amalgamy of just what makes humans so wonderful, yet so unreliable."

While emotions may cloud her judgement at times, Mao is an overall intelligent person who remains in total awareness of her environment. Every passive decision is based on a turning gear of logic, weighing benefit and consequence on a broken scale.
Ideal: "-It's funny. Maybe at one time I just wanted a world in which I was special, and seen as extraordinary; in which someone would say "You are necessary and irreplaceable." But at some point, I realized I didn't need special powers to be needed by someone. Now, it looks like I'm endlessly chasing a world in which such destructive forces of nature don't exist at all, so that someone out there sets the bar a little lower for themselves."

Belief: "Hard work always pays off!"

Physical Information
Build: Weak; rather frail in general. But this is speaking in comparison to the superhumans of the day. Frankly speaking, she can carry a decent amount, and isn't so scrawny that she finds trouble in day to day life.
Defining Marks: Besides being really short, occasionally her eyes tend to stand out. This is a direct result of her QI, however, which causes her eyes to become a faintly glowing teal, while the pupils become reminiscent of Plus Signs.
Description: In a heavy contrast to her personality, Mao's virtually incapable of carrying a dishonest expression. If something is troubling her, chances are it'll be written all over her face in a pretty cursive font. Her light skin also does an equally fine job of exposing the pampered family life she's lived, always preferring to indulge in the many conveniences and luxuries of indoor living.
Due to her below average height, Mao is often mistaken for a child, despite her often sophisticated way of speaking and professional manner of dressing.-The fact she wears her bright lavender hair in pigtails doesn't help her case much either.
History Information
History: It's as they say:"Great things have small beginnings." In Mao's case, that could at least be taken for half it's worth; ever since birth, she's always been special. Because she was both an only child and diagnosed early on with a case of anemia, her parents felt the need to remain one step closer to her than most would, only keeping more attention pinned on her with the discovery of her asthma in later years. Mao was constantly reminded of her problems throughout life, which frequently brought her social troubles going through school. What irked her was the lack of expectations adults held for her. Similarly, her peers began to get the impression that she was an attention seeker, using her public feinting spells to get out of work and activities when she didn't want to do her share.
Eventually, people learned that she was entirely different than the image that had been fabricated, but despite that, she tried to show her determination and good will through lesser tasks and favors, eventually earning a good reputation for herself school-wide.
Perhaps Mao was a good enough kid to make the honor roll, but she had a nasty habit of forgetting her homework, be it at home, in her locker, or just period, and as a result her grades averaged from low to high Bs. Mao found little interest in most of what she learned in school, so in a time before she came upon any hobbies of note, she took it upon herself to get a head start on learning what she found true importance in.
Seeing that her parents were both deep into the medical field, it was only natural Mao would take some sort of interest in it early on, and combined with her love for people, that couldn't be more true. As you'd probably expect, most of what she learned came from her parents directly. By the time she reached her senior year in highschool, she knew nearly as much as a fresh graduate from medical school. At this point, her career was fairly set in stone.
-Or, until the sudden transfer to Cable Academy, anyway.
At some point going into adolescence, Mao began to notice drastic changes in the world around her. What she didn't understand for quite some time however, was that nothing about the world had changed; rather, her perspective had evolved. A distant tree became clear in her vision, she could hear every blade of grass shifting,-it was amazing, but just as much as it was frightening so late in the game. She soon found that when she'd normally fly face-first into the pavement after a fall, she now was capable of reacting in time to prevent the damage; grabbing a hold of nearby objects as the speed of descent seemed much easier to comprehend compared to times long ago. This wasn't the most drastic change she'd notice, but through a series of sensory tests she took in her final year of high school, certain individuals were notified of her extraordinary abilities, issuing an immediate transfer to the Territory 259's suited academy.
-And settling into Cable, it became clear that things were about to get much crazier.
