Stevie had only just left Cabal. She had all her (few) provisions and was ready for whatever awaited her on her journey. Every so often she stopped to eat and sleep in an abandoned house or a temple or what-have-you. She hunted every week, smoking the meat she collected as soon as she killed the beast. It kept longer this way. Sometimes she dried the meat and had jerky for a while. She stayed along the river's path to keep up on her water supply but also to find the best game.
After about a year and a half Stevie came upon a small civilization. These peoples were alone in what seemed like the middle of nowhere. They had their own little set up too. They had their hunters, weavers, nursery, etc. Everything you needed had a place. Above all, it was open to outsiders. Most small town like this now-a-days were closed off to be safe from raiders, thieves, general ruffians and their like, but his place was open. Stevie didn't really think it too odd, after all, she was offered a bed to rest her head. What could go wrong?
Everything.
Stevie awoke to the smell of smoke. Instead of grabbing her weapons, she darted out of her housing to attempt to get a hold of the situation before taking action. It was a mistake as the colony was waiting for this exact movement. They hit her hard in the back of the head in an attempt to knock her out. She was dizzy and definitely off balance but she wasn't out. Not yet at least. Something warm and wet trickled down her back, she was sure it was blood. Her shirt stuck to her back now as she attempted to regain focus of the situation.
Someone in front of her held a few palm branches set aflame, another aside her fanned the smoke into the hut Stevie used. It was a rouse to get her disoriented and panicked. Stevie growled and sat back on her heels.
"What?"
"Of course you must know. We plan to kill you, Qi user."
"Why." Stevie's voice sounded bored.
"Because it should be only the Gods that wield such power."
Stevie focused on the woman speaking. "Fuck off. Really?"
"That ain't very ladylike." A gruff voice started.
"Worry not, Samuel, She shall pay for all she is in time."
"I don't think so sweetheart. You don't know all I'm capable of."
"I've seen your type before. Over confident until you head slides from its shoulders."
"And if my head don't slide off?" Stevie smiled at the woman, feeling much more sure of her surroundings now.
"We have clauses in place for just the situation."
"I see. Well then, I guess I give up. I am in no way to fight back. My head is bleeding and I'm already on my knees. What more would you want?"
"I don't want your surrender, I want your head."
"Well, I am rather attached to it see."
"That can be fixed, my dear."
"Don't know if I'll be able to let you do that."
"How would you stop us? There are many of us and only one of you."
"I'll just have to try REALLY REALLLLLY hard." Stevie laughed.
"I see you are delirious. It seems we may have hit you harder than intended. No bother. It may in fact come in handy. Carlos, Samuel, get her up and into the guillotine."
"Id really rather not."
"You have no choice."
"No, I mean I don't want to kill your people. I don't like to kill. Its not niiiiiieeeeeeessssssss." Stevie drew out the word and looked around, placing a sleepy grin on her face. This isn't how she planned on leaving the 'tribe' but so be it. If they wanted to fight, she'd fight them to the last.
The woman laughed. "Bring her now." And then turned to leave.
Stevie looked around again, purposefully lolling her head to the side dramatically. "No. No touchie. I don't like that." She let out a giggle.
This was it. The men came closer and grabbed either of Stevie's wrists. Stevie let herself be pulled to her feet and moved a few steps forward before 'falling' and allowing the men to start lifting her once more before easily getting her feet under her and swiftly bringing her hands together, causing the two men's heads to collide with a loud crack. At the sound, the woman in charge whipped around, eyes wide at Stevie's smile mouthing the words 'Told you so'. She spun again to another few men. "TAKE HER DOWN!" And here came the cavalry. Four men came running at her, all warriors. Excellent. Stevie looked to her right and drew out the soup boiling in the pot. As the first two came at her she threw the boiling soup into their eyes, forcing it into each eye, nostril, and mouth. The men would drown in the boiling substance. As the other two came at her, bare armed, Stevie would let out another laugh. The first grabbed her arm and yanked forward. Stevie came with it easily, knocking the man back with her shoulder and ramming him into the embers for the boiling pot. A burning log lodged itself through the pile, through his midsection, and into her shoulder. Stevie leapt back, holding her shoulder, gritting her teeth. The last looked around for a weapon. Unfortunately by the time he picked one up, Stevie was already at his side with a fire skewer plunging it into his neck.
Stevie looked back up to the woman in charge. "How many have to die for your cause?! See here the blood you've spilt. It is not on my hands, but your own." The woman stared down at Stevie with a face full of fury. "How dare you blame me for what you are. You are AN ABOMINATION! THE LORD WILL STRIKE YOU DOWN!" The woman raised her hands and screamed. "Friecsh, we call upon you, our Goddess, visit your wrath upon this nonbeliever. Remove her from this world and reclaim your people." She lowered her hands and pointed them in my direction. a bright light started to ball in her hands. Once it was the size of a baseball, it flew at high speeds at Stevie, barely missing her calf. When it moved past her leg, the heat from the ray left a bright red burn with spots of black. "Friecsh!" Her hands raised once more before coming back down. The orb began to grow again. Before it was released, Stevie ripped water up from the nearby stream and set up a blockade. When the orb came flying at Stevie she wrapped the water around the orb with the most water she could manage. The orb stopped moving and began cooling. Stevie threw the watery orb back at the woman, surrounding her in water and forced the orb into her chest. Bubbles formed and there was a flash. The water exploded outward with red spots and pieces of body parts. Stevie looked around the area. The people were watching wide eyed, unsure what to do. Stevie immediately took action.
"There is no such Goddess as Friecsh, it is the name of her gift. She was a Qi user as well. She hated herself and strived to rid the world of the people with her 'condition'. Heed not to her teachings. She was a crazed woman with invalid precognitions that she was a monster. Nothing could be further from the truth. To have these abilities is not a curse but a blessing. Heed my words, if you ever meet someone with abilities, help them. Do not attack them. Do not hate them. Love, not fear. Understand, not condemn."
Stevie moved through the crowd, which parted to let her through, and entered her hut, gathered her items, and exited once more.
