The reception echoed the setup of the wedding on a larger and grander scale. Signs of Aurora's wealth were fully on display, glistening for all to see. Ali could remember when it felt a little more minimalist, but she couldn't say that she didn't enjoy the chance to see it - and to see how the people here would intermingle.
She herself was struggling. Familiar faces got friendly greetings easily enough, but the mix of upper and lower classes was not what she expected. There was a lot of standing around and talking, or people going about in cliques that seemed to be of those familiar with one another. Not all, but enough to see the pattern. It also kind of reminded her of their failed espionage test.
At least there was no test this time. It lead her to do what she wished, which was apparently a drink after talking with one of the soldiers of Aurora she trained with on occasion.

Oni would see Ali for the first time since the actual Ceremony and she would approach the lady with a spring in her step.
"Ali! Isn't this just great? I can't remember ever actually being at a wedding before it is just as every bit as emotional and wonderful as what you read about in books, dont you agree?"

Ali turned at the sound of her name, surprised at the familiar form that approached her and smiling nevertheless. It was good to see Oni again and it showed. She nodded and waited for her squad-mate to come closer before speaking.
"Oni, it's good to see you." She was as enthusiastic and bubbly as she remembered, the girl who tried to make a trio work with what skill she had. "The wedding was lovely. I'm glad to see you could make it." She hadn't really read romance novels much. Much. There had been too much else to do back home.
"It was really sweet."

She swooned staring off in the distance her cheeks were brightly glowing. She placed cool fingers to cover and cool her cheeks as best as she might try.
"Yes it is quite sweet." she looked at her partner once more. "What have you been up to?"

For half a second, Ali thought she was actually going to have to catch Oni from teh force of her swoon, but the Tiefling seemed to have herself pulled together before that could happen. Somehow, the blush had the woman's cheeks as red and dark as her hair.
"Training, mostly," she admitted, gesturing towards the table and leading Oni to it while they talked and she selected what she wanted.
"I'm thinking of taking a trip home soon, though." She took a sip of champagne and despised it.

That snapped Oni from her cloud.
"A trip home? Is everything alright?"

"Oh, yes." Ali gave a reassuring smile, rather than one of the rare, slight ones she wore when she bothered.
"My father was injured during the attack a few months back. His recovery has been going well. I want to see how he's doing for myself. It's been a while. " She missed them, and going on an excursion with her birth father reminded her of that.

"Ah yes. That is fortunate!" Oni nodded, happy it wasn't dire. "My father has been living on his own since I attended Cabal. He gets lonely quite a bit, Even so, he lives in town so It isn't hard to keep up with his whereabouts."

"That makes it easier." Ali nodded, looking in the direction Ayatlan would lie from Aurora for a moment.
"Thankfully, the rest of my family is there as well, so my mother and sister have been able to keep an eye on him.
"But what about you? I feel like I've barely seen you when I'm at Cabal."

She hid her hands behind her back sort of a tick she was not being wholly truthful with her response. "I've started to have a change in direction? Like I suppose I am trying out a new Major to study." While that much was true something also made her feel like she might need to limit her interaction with others while she got certain things under control. She didn't want Aly to worry with what was on her plate already so she wouldn't bring the subject wholly to light.

"I am trying to utilize the armor and weapons I've been given. They are severely out of my comfort zone. Very tank-y and super metal. Its hard to control... Like how I nearly split Lann in half at the tournament. Oh my gosh it was so horrible... I mean it was his arm... But two inches would have made a world of difference. That was something I knew would have caused some uncontrollable damage and I had a mind to keep working on it Without endangering others."

Ali nodded at the mention of Oni trying to work on her experience and comfort. She remembered how awkward the girl’s handling had been with her spear in the past. It seemed she was working hard on changing herself. The fact they were talking about potentially fatal wounds at a wedding was a little off setting, but given where they were, it Spike that she still cared enough to change.
As for herself, Ali decided not to comment on Leann’s injury. She preferred not to dwell on the fact Cael had dropped her with one shot.
“It’s an admirable goal to want to change and improve. I’m sure you’ll do well.”

"That means a lot coming from you. You've always been so sturdy and focused in my eyes." Oni grew a glimmer of admiration in eye she looked up to Aly in that aspect.

"Really?" Ali blinked. Several times. She couldn't recall hearing that at all since she left home, and more often than not it was from those of her own social class. The compliment left her speechless for a moment as she studied Oni and found only sincerity.
"Well, than you." She nodded, a hint of pink at her cheeks before she shoved the moment aside. "I'm sure you will go far. Cabal has quite a few features to help you on your way."
