Starbucks cafe. Chrynos did not exactly like Starbucks, but heck, Chrynos knew no other place that had better coffee anyway. The graduate sat at the table at the corner of the room, wearing a light black shirt with a silver cross in the middle that stretched to the whole front of the black shirt and a pair of tan cargo pants that seemed too loose for him, latched onto his waist with a brown belt. As his footwear, he wore a pair of red-and-black sports shoes. And last but not least, the Ring of Horror, located around his right index finger.
Holding a cup of coffee with his right hand, he lifted it up slowly, letting the brim of the cup rest on his lips as he tilted it, letting the warm brown liquid pour into his mouth, before putting it back down on the saucer plate. He let out a loud sigh as the heat and the taste of the coffee refreshed his rather exhausted body.
And then, he stared at the brown coffee as steam slowly rose from the hot liquid. He was reminded of his old escapades in Starbucks. The Starbucks cafe in New York was his, Tenchi's and Eric's favourite meeting place. And now, he was in another Starbucks cafe, far away from New York, in the state of California. Chrynos let out a sigh, wondering when he could solve this Mafia problem and return to New York.

Karel, however - thought of Starbucks as the very minimum as a coffee shop. However, they were also a convenience as they were reliable enough to have a branch almost anywhere and it was a definite given they had a store in major cities such as this. But, here on this day the former gang leader was here to have a drink and contemplate the the events which surrounded his life. How he wished it had never gotten complicated... but wishing was always a waste of time. No, that was right.. what he should be doing is...
I'll get back to you on that one.
But what REALLY mattered was what he currently was doing, standing by the counter and waiting for his favourite coffee and syrup. Vanilla Latte.
Of course, once he did eventually get it... there was the complication of where he would sit. Ray Bans slightly lowered so as to allow him a raw view of his surroundings he looked around over the nose bridge of his sunnies... and sat down across someone who was oddly familiar. The old him would have never spoken first... but times change; and with it, so did he.
"Seems like all cowards run to the same place. Hell."

Chrynos looked up as he heard an all-too-familiar voice, only to find his eyes on one of the most spoken-of person in New York. The wise and cunning leader, or ex-leader, of R.O.B., Karel Soresu. And here he was, in California, where he was nothing but a transfer from another school. Now, what was Karel doing exactly in California, far away from the place where he would be better off at? Chrynos sat up, his hand releasing the cup of brown coffee that was on his side of the table, his eyes on Karel's. He had a thin line for a mouth, his eyes slightly wider than usual. Must be the coffee.
"Karel? I didn't expect to see you here."
Chrynos spoke. Then again, many people that he met here from 552 were the least expected to be seen. One, was Hiroko, thought to be dead. And the other was Saito, a man that Chrynos knew had sworn his loyalty to the defence of 552 and its students. And now, Karel, who left his 'throne' for another city. Indeed an uncanny bunch of people. And all cowards ran to the same place? The first thought that Chrynos had was that Karel was running... Too. Yeah, the graduate was running. Running from the damn Mafia, but what would have made Karel run?
"And what are you doing here, far away from New York?"

Karel wasn't lying. All of them from 552 had something to run from; and for someone like Karel... it was like fleeing from everything he knew or could consider familiar. Perhaps have a fresh start? No, that was simply another motive that was only secondary to his true concern. In those days where he had given his entire being to Celeste, he wasn't exactly himself. Although he would have gladly been there for her, he knew that because of his past he would have never known peace. It was as if be was some magnet for the dangerous kind of trouble that most people would have never wanted to know about. It was, for that same reason why he had left... with Celeste having disappeared, he wanted to keep his side of the heat off of her. Unfortunately, that was the best he could do - and which is why he hated himself for it. Now, however... he had another life to attend to.... one with Rasha. At least, he hoped.
"Reign of Blood is disbanded, I'm assuming. I could ask you the same thing."

Chrynos nodded his head to his assumption. Reign of Blood had indeed disbanded, and that was after Celeste had disappeared too. Chrynos looked at his coffee as he then wondered if he could tell Karel about the Mafia. Not like Karel worked for the Mafia nor was it cause Chrynos did not trust Karel. He trusted the younger man. It was just that this Mafia. It was not like the Mafia one would think of in the movies. These were dangerous people, and ruthless ones too. Then again, Karel had his fair share of dangerous situations. He could handle this one. Besides, it's not like the Mafia was listening in on this conversation, right? They didn't even know where Chrynos was anyway, so might as well...
"I was chased by the Mafia. And you still haven't told me what you are doing here? R.O.B. had been looking for you since you disappeared."
Chrynos still found it rather coincidental that here was the place where most people that fled from New York would be. Why California? Why 259? Maybe cause it was somewhat similar to 552, only much more peaceful? Maybe, but then, there were plenty of other schools like that. So, why 259? Why California? In fact, Chrynos had to ask himself the same question too. He too was unsure why he chose to stay in California.

He wouldn't answer his question. Again, at least. He had already given him what he wanted to know; he was a coward. Albeit, not because of a fight... but to him, it was something more. But everyone had their dangerous sides... he was no different. The former co-leader of the Reign of Blood had a past much similar to Celeste's, and was constantly haunted by those who wished to clean up himself and his... "family". To no avail, of course... the only person he was ever thoughtful of was Celeste, and that was more than enough reason for him to leave. And as it was mentioned before, 259 was on the opposite side of the country.... thus, calling America their world, it was as far as they could get.
"... they should give up looking. You have a mafia problem, huh... what did you do? Eat the wrong pasta?"
Heh. Heh.

"They would have, by now."
And what exactly did Chrynos do to have been chased by the Mafia? Well, he was not sure. If he were to list out the possibilities, it would be a very long list indeed. Chrynos looked at the coffee for a moment, his index finger slowly stroking the handle of the cup as he started to pick out some of the most reasonable possibilities. That was going to take a while. Having given up looking for a possible reason, he looked at Karel once more, giving him a soft chuckle, before nodding his head.
"Yeah, something like that."
Once said, he then started to think and wonder, how the hell was he going to get the answer to his questions about the Mafia, without getting noticed by them at the same time? It was not going to take long before they realised where he was, so Chrynos needed to find out fast, and then try to find a way to get them off his ass. Having settled that, he focused his thoughts more on Karel now. He still did not know what Karel was doing here. And then, one of his earlier statements, the first one, to be specific, repeated in his head. Cowards? Run? Karel, running? Although an unexpecting assumption, Chrynos was not that surprised. After all, everyone had their own fears and worry, and running was sometimes a smarter action than fighting. Run to fight another day, right?
Question was, what was Karel running from?

OOC: Sorry. Had delays, as you know IC: "...Mmm."Can an awkward pause please get any longer? Although, if one could ask... Karel wouldn't of ever felt awkward in these situations. Being quiet and the like? That's how he loved it. If two people truly understood one another, there would of never been any need for words; and so as ignorant humans, we talk adn continue. But what exactly WAS Karel running from? Well... a few things. Enough for him to call himself a coward, which was more than enough even for his standards. How would the day proceed? An interesting question...

And silence covered them like a blanket, the two ex-552ers suddenly having nothing else to say. Looking down at his coffee, he started thinking about his past escapades with the young man that sat before him. The way he surprised the graduate with his attitude as a freshman, and how he climbed up the ranks of the student heirachy with the help of R.O.B.. Not an impossible feat, but not an easy one either. He did, after all, become one of the gang leaders of Reign of Blood, or was it called TOG? It was too long ago, and Chrynos had not really beeing with Reign of Blood long enough to actually know. And then, a question came in his head. Something that would help him find out why Karel would run away from his 'throne'.
"So... Why California? And you don't happen to know a school 259 now, do you?"

"I thought I already answered that question."
Silence, anyone? Karel said nothing more as he had already given the old... acquaintance his answer beforehand. Funny as it was his greeting for this certain situation. Moving to the more or less ... important issues, this senior was doing his best to enjoy his damn hot drink. Were there any more poor attempts at initiating conversation, or should they simply sit there like a bunch of fools?
Maybe I should say something...

"You came here because everyone else ran to here?"
Chrynos looked up, his reply sounding more like a statement that a question, but it was a question nonetheless. Removing his hands from the coffee cup, he crossed his arms over his chest, resting it on the edge of the table. He looked at Karel, before letting out a soft sigh. How Karel had grown. When Chrynos had first seen the brown-haired genius, he was still a rather frail freshman with a sickness that became his biggest weakness. And now, he was one of the youngest and most-feared 'tyrant' in New York.
And here he was now, in California. Chrynos reached forward with his right arm, grabbing the handle of the cup before lifitng it up to his mouth, taking a sip or two, before placing it back down on the saucer plate, letting out a sigh as he tried to relief some of the heat that had entered his body.

"... yeah, something like that."
As Chrynos had done before, Karel simply shortened his answer rather than boring him with his own story... or indulging. After all that had happened, you couldn't blame him for not being bothered to say anything. It was more complicated then he'd cared to explain, so as such his jaws were shut on the case.... and now, now.... he was slightly tired of thinking on the past.
And the wind blows~
