Virgil would stare at Blake as he explained, nodding once he finished.
"I also believe this. It just feels... Heavier seeing this and knowing what I must do."

"Anything you are not comfortable doing I will do in your stead. Just tell me. This is my burden to bear."
It came with the mantle of leadership. He would spare his people from this if he could.

They would reach the road to quickly enough, entering the town without walls or clear borders. Virgil would lead Blake to a street where there was just One Begger. His clothes dirty, his hair a mess, he had wounds that were untreated and an old ripped up blanket he used for warmth, but he was there. Hands out, waiting and staring at the ground. Virgil would nod towards the begger so Blake knew without a doubt.

Blake reached to his waist and dropped a heavy sack of coins in front of the beggar.

At the clunk of the sack of coin the begger would pause all his motions, looking up at Blake for a moment before grabbing the bag and holding it back up to him.
"After twelve years, you think I'm more willing to join you now than I was? Leave me be, I will not join the Conqueror."

"Good. Same."
He would not take the coin purse back.

Quinn the begger would lower the purse of coin to the ground looking at Blake now before moving to get to a standing position. Wobbly he leaned back against the wall he was near before pushing off to stand on his own weight.
"I don't plan on joining any resistance movements either. Whatever tale's some pub wench may have sung to you are lies."
Quinn would move to leave, staggering.

"You are the first person I've spoken to since coming to this land."
Blake would say, his accent clearly very different than any from these lands.

It had been bothering him, that Blake didn't have any of the funny accents of the usual Conqueror forces he;d come across before. He'd stop his staggering to turn and look over his shoulder at Blake.
"Then what ya want? Dropping sacks o' coin like that. Seems fishy."

"You're benevolent."
As if that explained everything.

Quinn would slap a hand to his face, lean back and laugh. it was a harty laugh for once and it made him cover his stomach with his other hand.
"Be-NEV-olent he says, hahahaha. 'Ere's a sack o' coin for ya! Well, you might just be drunker an I am for that one lad. But mighty kind, mighty kind. You, sir, you er the Benevolent one."

"No. Because my actions will result in the death of your kinsmen and the Conqueror's gaze returning to this land."
Blake was nothing if not blunt and honest.

That made the laughing stop abruptly. He lowered his hands to his sides and he turned on the bare feet under him.
"Choose yer next words more carefully, lad."

He nodded. This man was the right one.
"Your people are chained by a thief of land and culture. Content with being left alone as his greedy gaze turns elsewhere for now. But that will change, and there are jackals waiting to rise up and become their own tyrant. You will have a chance to be the leader your people need, or watch as the tyrant's fight and kill to crush one another."

Quinn stared at Blake for some moments following what he said, inspecting him closer. His clothes didn;t match up, the strange fellow with him was dressed similar, they obviously weren't military, but carried weapons. Those weapons didn't appear to be for hunting beasts either.
"Who are you?"
