She tilts her head and taps her cheek thoughtfully.
"Ah. So you believe I may not stagnate so much if I could experiment on others?"
That may be true. While she often tested on herself, there were some things she dared not attempt carelessly...namely disease and poison.
"I'm afraid that may be frowned upon."
Though there was an immortal girl...if she got informed consent....hm...

"You meet enemies on the battle field do you not? A training ground at Cabal with miles of space and Qi Beast nests to maintain populations. Why must the target be willing?"

Well. She wasn't about to start arguing morality...
If anything, the Qi beast idea wasn't bad at all either if she was trying to avoid a scandal.
"Ah, I hadn't considered Qi beasts. You are correct."
So really she hadn't been far off the mark. Keep experimenting and mixing various elements. All she'd been missing was guinea pigs to fully examine the results...
"Strange how simple the answer seems to be, now."
That's what overthinking looks like she guesses.

Strike would somewhat chuckle.
"Yes... An old lab partner of mine used to say. 'Keep it simple, stupid.' quite often."

Faye is amused by that quote and it totally shows on her face.
Like. If you kinda squint, maybe. And then take a marker and scribble a smile on her lips.
"A most important piece of advice. Was this partner a mentor of sorts?"

Strike would lean back in his chair and fold his legs calmly bouncing it as he thought on how to answer.
"Not a mentor per say. I did look up to him for a time, but his ambitions had limits, and we went in different paths."

"I see."
It does make her wonder what her own path may end up like some day.
"Might I ask what happened to this person?"

"You should know I think. He is the current President of Cabal."
Strike rubs at the bottom of his chin slightly dismissive of his own statement.

In a rare moment, Faye’s lips curve up in an smile.
“I see...”
She wasn’t going to prod much for about it for now. The answer itself was interesting enough.
“Not to shift the topic abruptly, but I was curious as to why you agreed to speak with me so easily. I believed it would be much harder to personally speak with an Emperor that isn’t tied to Cabal. Especially due to not having any status to speak of, on my part.”

Strike would grin.
"I believe you know the reason for that as well."
Strike would say, though this time he was staring at Faye. Right in the eyes, unmoving, unflinching. Waiting for her to realize.

Faye stares back for a while, though not because she wasn't realizing. She just does that.
After another moment, she would nod.
"I see. How fortunate, then."
A beat.
"I suppose there isn't anything that requires discussion in terms of that."
I mean if he knew that much anyway.

"No, but can I ask you to give a greeting to that man, the next time you see him?"

"It would be my pleasure."
But, on that note, she felt it best not to take much more of the Emperor's time. She learned a deal more than she expected.
"I believe I should allow you to get back to your own affairs. Again, you have my sincere gratitude for the insight and the gift."
She slowly raises from her seat, mostly because she's not entirely sure what the process of getting out of here will look like.

Strike would also stand when Faye acknowledged it was time to leave. He would escort her to the exit of his craft and bow his head slightly to a fellow science colleague.
"Do let me know the next time you wish to visit. I would love to pick your brain about what you think the true limits of the human biology is when it comes to chemicals."

"I am certain I will have much to say on it when the time comes."
Because she'd...gotten an idea following the golem talk. A bit of a riskier one. The sudden inspiration was exciting, however.
"Until next time. Farewell, Emperor."
And with that she would take her leave!
