The man would shrug.
"A battle like this doesn't happen every day, but I suppose you all are not from here."
He'd put his arm across his stomach and bow his upper body with a flourish of his other arm.
"My name is John Strike. I had planned on visiting an old friend today, but I suppose it can wait a while while we figure out the question."
He'd raise back up and smile at the group.
"Why are you here?"

Oni heard his name and kept her lips shut. This Strike was far different from the one they knew and was far younger, Dra Aht was also an event of the past she would refrain from giving this man a bunch of Ideas. However, she would turn to Soni and walk over to her, and place an arm around her friend's shoulder. Maybe for her own stability and possibly if her friend needed it.

Soni let the others answer, because she knew just as much as they did, though, frankly, she assumed far less. In the meantime she wrapped her arm around her only friend here, giving a quiet and subtle "Hey." Afterwards she'd only examine the man and his soldiers and take in carefully what was going on.

A roar would explode from outside as the two sides finally clashed in full conflict, explosions and death soon followed.
Strike would nod a bit.
"Know is such a strong word Earth Dragon. I know you about as well as I know the Dragon Apprentice over there."
He'd point at Elias slightly.
"To watch or participate... Hmmm, sounds like a choice to me."

Elias' mouth pulls upwards in a slight smile.
He attempts to absorb the life force from the armies dying outside.

Level 0 - Life Force Absorption: Elias stores the life force of those around him when they die. He can hold up to X amount of charges, with X being 1.25x his current level of energy, and these charges can be built up over multiple threads. He gains two charges per death.
Elias can use these charges as a temporary buff for one thread only, spending the charges to increase his attributes as a sort of temporary experience points to his base stats. Once spent, these points only last for the current thread, and the charges must be built up with death once more. Upgraded twice.

Mathew, like Elias will try to pull in the energy of the war raging outside into himself. All that he could muster, this was the largest battle in decades to come. Though he suspected he would not get what he should from it.
"Then if you know us, you know most of these kids are not even born yet. Which leads to the question, not why are we here, but who are you?"
This 'Strike' wanted them to make choices. He wanted to know who was trying to pull the strings.

Eve gave past Strike an expectant look. He not only knew who they were apparently, but also the titles they held. Some of them looked like they were younger than her. Plus the whole speaking in riddles.
She glanced at the window when the explosion happened, but they seemed safe for now, so it wasn't a major concern. The man in the room with them was.
