A New Start (Open/Carol)

[Thea]

With a yawn, Thea sat up on the branch she took a nap on. She wasn't used to being so exposed to the warmth of the sun just yet and it lured her into a soft slumber. With the leaves swaying and caressing her hair, she rubbed her eyes and carefully stood to stretch. Her mother was right, it would seem. Nature had a way that lowered ones defenses. A few moments later and Thea was wide awake and ready to continue into the town that lied up ahead. As peaceful it is to sleep in a tree, she would prefer an actual bed to plain wood any day. With a smile and a hum, she turned to carry on to her destination, following the sky as the sunlight lazily passed her by.

Carol was out hunting. Mostly waiting for small unsuspecting animals to happen by and slit them open. She was already covered from her hands to past her elbows in blood. The same blood ran down the front of her shirt. She breathed in deep the lovely iron smell that drifted from her chest. A soft smile covered her face as she sighed happily.
That was when she heard it. The sound of someone walking in the forest. HER forest. Ok so it didn't belong to her, but it was still hers nonetheless.
She slid nearer to the pathway, under cover by the brush and peered through a small hole in the foliage to spy who was near and assess the situation from there.

The girl paused, breathing in the scent around her. It was a familiar one from childhood, a sickly sweet smell that clung to her family. She hummed softly and continued at a slower pace, keeping a closer eyes at her surroundings. She wasn't sure who was hunting, but had a feeling she would find out one way or another.

Seeing the new face Carol decided she wasn’t a danger and popped her head up, right in front of the girl.

“Hello!”

She was a sight to see. Blood dripping from her hands and arms and chest. Lovely.

[Thea]

The girl took a step back and tilted her head, one hand on the hilt of a knife. "Ah, hello." Thea relaxed a bit and took her in, smiling softly. "I can see you've been busy."

Carol let out a giggle. It would sound off. Very off. Like she was nearly insane.

“Oh just a few animals. If you’d like we can cook and eat them. I killed more than I needed for myself.”

She’d look down at her hands and smile serenely at the blood on her hands.

“I like the blood.”

[Thea]

Thea blinked before smiling. "Right! Blood is so relaxing! It always reminds me of my family." She looked down, her heart aching as she thought of her family and siblings. She missed them and their crazy antics, but running into this girl helped her keep calm. "I can help you with the animals. We'll have a good meal then!"

Carol grinned up at her. It would have been a terrifying sight for anyone else. She scooped up the bodies lying about the bushes and sing-songed her way to a clearing nearby.

“You can scoop up some twigs and such. We can even cook them here! We are so far from people, no one will bother us.”

Carol unceremoniously dropped the corpses into a pile at her feet before grabbing small leaves and twigs to use as kinder. She would keep an eye out for good striking rocks too!
