Eve is outside waiting for Mathew! With the last chat they'd had on her mind, now seemed as good a time as any to keep practicing what she'd recently learned by focusing on the energy in the earth.

Mathew comes out of the house munching on toast, though rather than walking he was letting the ground carry him toward their meeting place.

Level 5: Shifting Sands - Mathew can move the ground under his feet giving him a boost to his speed. 1/4 energy stat added to speed.

She knew he could move quickly when he wanted to, but feeling now like she did was odd. Eve turned to face teh house as Mathew approached, raising a hand as she watched him move without actually moving. Unless you counted breakfast.

He said with a nod of approval as he took another bite of his toast. Drawing his own power from the Earth to demonstrate what they discussed before. That it would not hinder either of them.

She nodded slightly, feeling the difference when he came closer. Plenty of ground to go around between the two of them, and the difference between the energy flows where they pulled towards themselves.
"I don't want to just learn and leave it." No point in it unless she wanted to find herself reaching blindly in a desperate situation.

He continued to drink deeply of the Earth's power as he gauged her and how much power she was drawing, finishing off his toast as he did.
"Good. So now you know how to draw on the power of the Earth, I think it's time that you learned how to use it as a weapon. It's a basic technique, but I want you to get used to working with something solid. It's different than forming your own energy, you need to instantly shape and sculpt stone and metal, and things that already have form resist that."

He hit the nail right on the head. Between it being something with form but also the most resilient elements, Eve figured it would be an uphill climb.
"So you have an idea what you want before you shape it?" She'ad assume so. He never really seemed surprised with what he made, but her father had experience eon his side. Her other examples at home had different circumstances; one hurt themselves as they used it, one was too young to say one way or another, and the other...she'd never really sat down and asked.

"Of course. You don't just accidentally make a house."
He'd smirk and take a step away from her to give them some space.
"There is a reason in combat I generally stick to simple shapes and concepts. It is easier to work with on the fly, and the last thing you want in any kind of life and death situation is a mishap. Fools show off with style when the situation calls for substance."
To demonstrate he'd slam his foot into the ground sending a sharp stone spike erupting toward Eve's direction, stopping a good foot or so from her, perfectly safe.

Level 1: Stone Strike - Mathew hits the ground and the shockwave sends out small pillars or projectiles of stone at his foe. 1/4th energy stat added to his attack. (Mutation: the stone projectiles are now covered in hardened Qi for additional damage! +18 for Damage Calculations)

"Right." Her lips twisted in a wry smile. Of course. The house wasn't an accident, but working with it in a fight left her wondering if it was his original intent to make hte spikes, or if that was he easiest to form. It sounded like it was a bit of both.
Taking in the changes the attack created, she took in the spike, its size and shape as it came up from eh ground and how it felt. It wasn't something she'd ever examined before.
There was a time to be flamboyant, and a time to conserve energy. An actual battle would be different from an elaborate duel or fight.

He let the ground carry him closer to her once more, running his hand over the spike, putting some pressure on it to show off its durability.
"It's not fancy but it gets the job done. It's simple and deadly and takes almost nothing to form and make. I can do these until whatever I am fighting is dead. No muss, no fuss."

She ran her fingers over it with a thoughtful expression. There was something reasurring about the simplicity of it.
"And what if the person you're fighting abosrbs qi?" Since they'd come across someone like that already.

"That depends on if they still are injured when they absorb it or not."
He'd say tapping on the spike causing it to erupt in a web of smaller spikes, though they would stay clear of Eve. He didn't plan to hurt her yet.

"Like with us." Bloodlines ftw. But she thought she understood what he meant. Absorb the qi or not, damage was damage. Unless they healed themselves from it, it was still there.

He'd look at her with a narrowed gaze as he spread his energy out to suppress hers.
"Hit me with a Qi blade."

Silence, Fool: Mathew can now, to up to 2 people within 20 feet of himself, seal any Qi attacks from being used for up to 2 posts by the individual. After wearing off, they get a backlash increase of +10 energy. Does not work on anyone who's energy is greater than his own. Base only.

She raised a brow at the mention of another trick up his sleeve, having admitted to herself that that was probably always going to be the case. The narrowed gaze left her more on alert, but the spike didn't immediately return. Instead, she would try to form the blades from their last fight, frowning as no blade formed. She felt her own energy as she always could, but there was no shape. No form. Nothing.
"What did you do?" And how did she get rid of it.
