Mathew stood on the barren field before the small city that was to be their first target. Training with Liam's men had been going well, and with his crystal constructed he was truly a force to be reckoned with now. His return home had filled him with the essence of War, his Godly domain. But not to the brim. No, for that he would need to be in the thick of it, which is where he planned to find himself today. There was no army to back him up, this was his gift to Liam and his. A show that he was more than just talk.
He watched as the opposing forces marshaled themselves across from him. An army of hundreds to his one. He'd given them a chance to surrender, but as to be expected they laughed and spat in his face. Even now he assumed they were laughing to themselves about how they would crush the crazy stranger that showed up at their home and demanded their fealty. That was fine, it simply meant that they would die with mirth a recent memory. We should all be so lucky.
"This is your last chance to lay down your weapons before I wipe out your forces!"
He'd call out to the commander of the cities forces. The commander simply smirked and fired back.
"How 'bout you run home with your tail tucked beneath you and if you are lucky we will forget we saw you!"
Mathew barked out a laugh, he loved it when someone he was about to murder had a backbone and a smart mouth. But that was it, now it was time to throw down with fists. Taking a deep breath he exhaled as power erupted from around him. His God right activating, bolstering his muscles and disturbing the ground around him. Plates would begin to overlap his body as he pulled out the soul of the Scorpion King from the Prota Crystal he'd stolen, letting his friend cover and protect him.
Now we show them what we can really do.
The ground under Mathew's feet would erupt as he shot toward the gathered army. Every step he took had the ground launching him forward even faster, his hand clawing outward as the energy built up within. The Scorpion King's laser-firing into the crowd ripping holes into bodies of soldiers were to slow to evade it. Not to take it standing the Qi users of the enemy army began firing at him as the forces charged in.
Walls of stone would erupt from the Earth to block the incoming Qi attacks as a spectral Dragon took shape from the tattoo on his arm, coiling around him protectively.
Three heartbeats and he was there, his fist colliding with a man's shoulder, the impact literally exploding his arm from its socket showering him and anyone nearby with blood as Mathew reached up to grab the severed arm, slapping away a sword that was coming for him with the severed limb. The enemy army quickly swarmed around him, blades and constructs of Qi raining down upon him faster than his dragon could construct constructs to stop them. But with every blow he took he would dish out one of his own, his fists and knees exploding upon every impact, tearing men and women apart at the seams as he did so. And yet no matter how many of their blades struck him, none would break his skin. Blessed by War as he was his flesh was harder than the stone he commanded.
Letting out a shrill whistle, the unearthly howl of Fenrir could be heard in response in the distance. It would only be a matter of time before his pet came to help him clean up. Like Moses parted the Red Sea so too would Mathew part the forces of this city. slamming his foot to the ground to cause an explosion of spikes to fire outward impaling dozens of men and women before him as he slowed his pace to a deliberate walk. The commander was his primary target, take his head and it should be the token he needs to obtain this land and it's people. And if not, well he'd get it in a less nice manner.
He caught sight of the man, marshaling his troops as Fenrir burst to the scene. The massive hound the size of a bus, ripping apart soldiers like they were cloth chew toys. He grinned beneath the helm of his scorpion king armor as he let out another whistle.
"Warned you that you should have given up."
He'd say as another dozen soldiers rushed at him with swords and spears. But with another slam of his foot into the ground time seemed to stop for a brief moment as all movement around him halted before the wave of power washed over the enemy soldiers. Turning them to dust and ash as he continued forward toward the Captain who started yelling at his men.
"You can't stop me, I'm unbeatable. I'm a God, didn't you hear?"
"Bah, you are nothing but a man with an overdeveloped ego. Fire! Everything you got!" The commander bellowed as he unleashed a powerful beam of energy at Mathew.
Mathew brought his arms up to shield himself from it as the other soldiers joined in, adding their own energy to their commander's. Slowly Mathew's advance would slow, and then even slower he would find himself being pushed back as the armor around his flesh began to burn, and after the armor burned his own flesh would start to blister and melt off his body. The aroma of his searing flesh was overwhelming as his skin fell to the ground as molten slag. Emboldened by their progress more soldiers began to add their energy to it as Mathew dropped to a knee, his muscles before devoured and his world going dark around the edges of his vision.
"I am as the Earth. And like the Earth, I. REFUSE. TO DIE!"
Mathew slammed a skeletal fist into the ground, the stone moving to coat it and his body, offering onto him its strength. The stone moved up over his body until it was fully encased. Slowly he stood up under the continued onslaught of their combined power. And slowly he would advance once more, a single step at a time as the stone around him began to crack and break.
Holding his right hand out he would speak the words that would end with their demise.
"E ehjuga dra Mekrdhehk Tnykuh"
A blade of lightning crackled to life in his grip and with a snarl he would slash forward, electricity arcing forward into the energy blast that was assaulting him. Focusing his energy types with the borrowed power of Leon, he would drink greedily of the power of war, letting it fill him to bursting, gorging himself on it and channeling it into the beam to reverse it and turn it upon those that would dare strike me. The explosion that resulted was large enough to destroy most of the army and send it's survivor's scattering and running. All with their own horror stories of what happened when they stood against the Earth-Dragon. Mathew, the God of War.
When the dust settled Mathew was still standing, younger than he'd been in decades, Rejuvenated with the power that he had tried to hang up for so long. Fenrir happily munched on the leg of some unfortunate soul, blood matting his fur as he panted happily at Mathew with an expectant look. Smirking Mathew would hold the blade out, offering a silent thanks to his old friend Leon for lending him his strength once more before letting the blade vanish until next time.
