((OOC: For Maxy and Chi...then possibly Aury/Levi. kthnxbai. XD))
When had her life not become her own? Was it the day she took Karel's hand-up and ended up in the classroom? Was it the night at the beach when Valekin carved the symbol into the back of her neck? Was it the day on the rooftop when she'd given Aureus back the ring? The day in the hallway? At the beach? Driver's ED?!
All Chi knew was that it felt like she wasn't herself anymore. Like she'd handed over the wheel to someone else and was just sitting along for the ride. At first she had allowed no one close to her, and when she thought she had changed and let people into her life, they disappeared, taking a part of her with them. John, Atticus, Max...even thinking about her former best friend made her eyes sting and her chest feel tight. And it had to do with Aureus too. Or, rather, Levi. The both of them sharing one body, loving two different girls was simply asking for trouble. And so Max had left, like a sour taste in her mouth, something that needed to be fixed. Where was she now? Would she ever come back? Would anything really be mended? Chi liked to hope so, but then again hope seemed to be coming in smaller and smaller doses lately.
The day was Saturday. Chi found herself wandering along the main stretch of street that was Long Beach, beneath the warm sun. The storefronts were colorful and lively, people bustling about byt the dozens, though amazingly interacting sparingly with each other. She was going to meet Aureus down here later for a movie, but the day was young, and Chi didn't quite feel like hanging around the house or sitting at the beach. Maybe she would in a bit, but for now she was content with absorbing the culture around her. Pink converses made their way along the sidewalk, and when she would turn her head, a long dark ponytail would fall over her shoulders and back.

Maxwell Parker was back here again in Long Beach, California. Had she left an item at the place which she had formerly called home that had any real significance, in her perspective, and decided to come all the way back from Texas just to retrieve it? Or was her presence in Long Beach solely because of the fact that it was summer and it beat going to a dude ranch with her mother?
The answer was neither of the above. Max had came back to Long Beach simply because she missed it; she missed her school... she missed her friends. She missed one specific person most of all though out of all the people she had met here in Long Beach, her name was Chi. Before Max's departure, her and her former BFF weren't exactly on friendly terms anymore. And the last time she saw Chi as she recalled, maybe a month or a couple of weeks before she moved, it ended with slaps and hurtful words and their relationship remained torn to this very day.
And Max still felt bad about it since most of the fight was her fault anyways. Now that she was back, for the summer anyway, Max wondered if maybe by luck her and Chi would run into each other again. She wondered if she would still hate her or if they could make up and become friends again, or if her trip to Long Beach would just be like a normal summer vacation. Non-fulfilling and a waste of time.
Most likely the latter, Max thought to herself as she finished paying for the Popsicle she was picking up at the small convenience store on the strip. The brunette girl took her treat in hand and began outside, the sidewalk was slightly crowded, a couple of people that passed rubbed shoulders with her and finally one taller man pushed her slightly to the side, throwing her at a random girl walking down the street. Max caught herself before colliding with the girl though, and when she finally regained focus she realized that this girl wasn't so random after all.
"Chi?!"

It was becoming increasingly crowded on the sidewalk, and just as she passed by a tall man in a straw hat, a girl was propelled in her direction. "Hai?!" Chi exclaimed, hands flying upward in defense should the girl run completely into her, but she seemed to have caught herself in time. She was just about to move on when her name seemed to come out of nowhere. 'Chi?!'
The raven haired junior whipped around, chocolate eyes searching for the source of the caller, the voice sounded oddly familiar. It was the girl that had nearly run into her. "Max?!" Chi replied, almost hesitant, eyes narrowing slightly as she did a once over of the girl standing in front of her. She had changed a bit, but it was undoubtably her. Chi felt a rush of happiness, before sudenly feeling awkward. "Um...where've you been?" She asked, not unkindly, but she wasn't exactly jumping up and down and embracing her long lost friend either. Max had said some really mean things to her, and had even ended up physically attacking her because of Levi, who was actually Aureus. Was she aware that they were still dating?
Chi didn't know how to act. One one hand she was facing her best friend, one of the very very few she had let close to her, and at the same time, she felt like she was looking into the face of a stranger.

"Max?!"
A hint of a smile appeared on the girl's face when she saw that Chi still remembered her name, but then it quickly disappeared. If anything Chi looked confused or maybe even upset at the sight of her. She seemed far from happy to Max which made little daggers explode in her abdomen.
After all, it wasn't all her fault. Chihiro had been part of the problem back then almost just as much as she had. It almost didn't seem fair that Max had to take all of the blame, to her at least, and that the one person that her and Chi had been fighting about in the first place before was being ignored.
"Um...where've you been?"
"Oh. I'm living with my mom down in Texas now... I don't think you know, um- she used to live in Europe so... now she's back and I've been spending time with her."
Said Max modestly, "What about you? I mean... what've you been doing with yourself?"
Max asked with an honest interest. Obviously things had changed about her - she had lost some weight, colored her hair, maybe she was picking up a tad of a Texan accent! She wanted to know what had changed with Chi. Better yet, she wanted to see if Chi had the heart to even tell her.

Chi's hesitant smile faded as well as her former best friend's excitement to see her whitered to awkwardness. "Well I've been here for the most part. My parents sent me to Seattle to be with my aunt for a bit when I had a bit of a mental breakdown.." Her voice trailed off to the point that she was practically mumbling the last bit about her breakdown involving Karel. "Quite a lot of things have happened since you've been gone."
The junior bit the corner of her lip, chocolate gaze falling to her feet. "You could have at least said goodbye, you know."

Max examined the dark-haired girl with curiosity. She sensed that there was something she wasn't telling her - like for instance why she had had a mental breakdown - but then again Chi wasn't obligated to tell her or anything. The last part Chi added made Max feel a little bit guilty. True, she could have. But she was so mad at her before she left that she hadn't seen any reason to at the time!
Max glanced away herself and looked around the pavement as if she were searching for something, and she was, something to say. Finally Max looked back at the girl in front of her and said in a weak and piteous voice,
"I know, Chihiro... but I guess I wasn't thinking correctly at the time. I was really rude and selfish, and..."
Max paused for a minute, but after taking in a breath she finished earnestly:
"I'm sorry."

The frown that graced the dark haired junior's face melted from cold to almost sad, her eyes growing wide. "I'd had no idea, Max...you know that I would never have done anything to make you upset, especially over something as ridiculous as a boy." Her face broke out in a grin, but her eyes were watering slightly.
"I've missed you Max." Chi admitted, wrapping her best friend in a hug. Chi had been so hurt by her best friends angry behavior the last time they had met, and once she had left, Chi lef tlike something had been missing that even Aureus couldn't fill in her life. Her best friend, the only real friend she'd let close to her. To lose her over a clique girl fight was almost like throwing salt in eachother's eyes. It would be an understatement to say that Chi was ecstatic that Max was back.

Max smiled and she didn't object in any way to Chi's embrace, she hugged back tightly. At one point she finally let a little liquid crystal come out of her tear duct, she let it fall all the way down her cheek and then quietly said to Chi,
"Me too,"
Standing there made Max feel horrible though. Even though Chi had sort of forgiven her, she still felt bad for the reason behind them fighting in the first place. It was the most ridiculous reason ever: a boy. That just made Max feel so horrible inside, but she hugged back tightly.
"I've missed you a lot."

[ooc: ack, incredibly short ><]
Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry..! Chi urged herself, sniffing as she pulled away from her friend. She brush a finger at the corner of her eyes discreetly, laughing lightly and sniffing again as she noticed Max teary-eyed as well.
"I'm so sorry...for everything. It was dumb to put a boy before our best friend-itude...Friends again?" The corner of her mouth curved up into a smile at her made up word, and the apology disguised as an offer, and she sniffed again. Damn, Chihiro, you softie..

Another tear slid down Max's cheek when Chi finally pulled away, ending the hug. She listened to her words and agreed with everyone of them. Boys... why did they always have to jeapordize everything? Max wouldn't let one do so again, and she shook her head in agreement when Chihiro proposed to be friends again.
"Yea.." She said softly, "Friends forever, this time." She said and a smile brought up the two ends of her lips as she then lifted her finger to wipe the moist in her eyes away.

A giggle bubbled it way up and out of Chihiro at this. Friends forever...it was like something said by little girls runnign around with those plastic necklaces with half a heart that fits like a puzzle piece with its mate. And that's a lot like how they were, puzzle pieces. Chi hadn't had many too close friends in her young life, but Max had been one of the most dynamic, the most rare, the few who had found their way past her steely exterior without much of a fight, leaving their handprint on her soul, and nothing ever was the same after that.
"Friend forever." She repeated, grinning in a silly fashion. Her eyes were still misty, but now she was more elated than she was sad. "Want to get a smoothie?" And thus, life fell back into it's happy, blithe rhythm. Things were falling back into place right and left for Chihiro. Getting Aureus back, getting Max back...it was as if all the little puzzle pieces in Chi's shaken up jig saw life were starting to find their way to their proper places once more...you could almost hear the cheery, sappy music in the background..

OOC: And now I suppose I likely won't be able to post furthermore after this... T_T
Max kept on smiling, she felt rather childish, like one of those blonde girls in the movies who ask buddy to be their best friend forever at thirteen and use pink barretes and sparkly nail polish to signify their friendship. But oh well... she had made Chihiro promise, no matter how cheesy her approach, and hopefully that was enough to keep the two young ladies together long enough to actually have the opportunity to at least catch up on the things that had been happening in one another's lives over the past few months of which Max had been away.
Naturally though, the brunette didn't know where to start or how to start asking her new/old friend about all the things that she was curious about. So when Chihiro mentioned getting smoothies, she smiled and shook her head in agreement.
"That'd be nice," she said and began to follow the slighty shorter(?) girl down the pavement walk, that's when Max noticed she still had a popsicle in her head too ( =P ) she wondered if Chi had seen it and quickly looked for somewhere to dump it. The nearby garbage can was the ideal place of course, she moved sideways and disposed of it, and then went back to walk beside Chi. They had never done something like this before. They had never been those two normal teenage girls who go downtown and drink smoothies together and talk about boys and bands and break-ups ( not that that was what they were going to talk about, of course ) but now that they were finally engaging in just a "normal", non-anything-related activity together, Max felt somewhat relieved. Something large and dark on her heart lifted, and she felt her eyes watering up again, quickly she wiped away any potential teardrops, she had realized that leaving Long Beach was wrong this moment... leaving her friend, leaving her life... it was all such a large mistake, but what could she do now to correct it?
Somewhere in the back of her mind sadness overtook her again and before she knew it she found another tear falling from the end of her face, she wiped it away and shook her head vigorously as if that would rid it of anymore tears that she could possibly muster up, and then as if replying to her thoughts from before she quietly spoke to herself in the back of her mind, whispering the one word that hurt more then any other that she'd heard before in her life because of the question she was asking:
Nothing.
OOC: *sighs* Very five-year-old, but I'm depressed, I hate not being able to go on the internet from home. And I don't think I'll be able to reply like I've been doing for the past 2 days anymore so like... yea... >_> *drives dagger thruogh self* If you want, Ryu could always join the thread now in case you don't want it to die too much when I stop replying again. Gosh this is a long OOC, next time I WILL use PMs. >< 'nyway, *throws pink teddies.*
