Preston is driven and goal oriented. He knows his place in the world and is not only happy with it but excited to reach his potential. He loves challenging himself and solving problems. Viewing most of life as a series of problems and puzzles to be solved. He is of the belief that there is always a solution to whatever you are confronted with, you just need the right tool and perspective to solve it.


He is aware of his magic and it's potential and what that means but he does not participate in false modesty. He believes that if you are good at something you should be proud of it, though needless bragging and using it to make others feel inferior is the tactic of someone insecure in their place in the world. Such people should be pitied.


Preston also understands that strength on its own is meaningless. That no one is truly strong on their own, and it is the people around you that help you reach your full potential. And by helping them reach their potential as well everyone can reach new heights. The ideal world is one where humanity works together to overcome the past and is always looking to build a brighter, unified future.

History Information

History:Preston was born in what is now territory 260. A decently sized territory to the far north. The Northernmost parts of what was once Washington State and part of Canada. Born into a distinguished family his Father and Mother both served with distinction in the war and are well-respected mages in their community. His Father is a well-known creator of Magical Items and proprietor of the Salabim Magical Emporium. His Mother on the other hand, also a talented sorceress holds a seat on the Academy of Magic. An Academy that serves as a similar function to Cabal Academy to the north.



Expectations were high for Preston his whole life, he was expected to become a powerful and influential mage himself, and his entrance into the Academy was all but guaranteed. He showed an early aptitude for magic, his natural gifts resonating with a wide range of spell types during the testing phases where students are placed into programs to work with their gifts. He was to be an Enchanter, one of the highest castes of Magicians in their community, and if he applied himself he may even become one of the advisors to the Circle of Lords.

It was with the knowledge of his rightful place in mind that he continued to apply himself. He would not be the one to tarnish the Salabim name, and he would help secure his family's place in the world. That is why he did not apply for the Academy of Magic, but for Cabal Academy to the South. His position held some privilege and he became informed of a student exchange between their territories in an effort to solidify diplomatic relations between their cultures. It was a rare opportunity and one that could gain him much prestige and offer him a unique experience unlike the vast majority of his peers. He had little fear of learning to master his abilities, and so the most effective way to achieve his goals is to set himself apart from the other talented and driven individuals that made up his rivals. Cabal was his ticket to doing just that.

This staff like many created by the once Mage Lady Blackburn bares a healing crystal, though the crystal seems to also brandish a great burning scar. The staff is able to heal negative ailments four times a thread, or can enhance any spell channeled through it by adding 1/4th the users energy stat to the spell four times a thread. Every time the staff is used in the manner one can feel the rage and love of a monarch who truly only wished to save her people.

Blackwater Service Ribbon [ADD-ON]: +5 Def, +5 Spd

This ribbon has the colors of house Blackburn of red and black on one side and Cabals colors of white and blue on the other, to show unity.

Misc: Preston's Staff +7 Energy 2 ADD on Slots - This item gives Preston 2 Spell Slots.  By Expending a spell slot Preston can absorb a spell or Qi ability that is used or detonates within twenty feet of him. If a damaging spell he takes half of the damage of the spell absorbed but it is imprinted on the staff. He may cast that ability as a spell by using a Spell slot. The spell remains absorbed until he chooses to absorb another spell.
Refined Salabim Crystal Booster [ADD-ON]: +8 Eng

This Crystal was meticulously redefined and refined into a powerful booster. Three times a thread this booster can absorb 3 Qi uses from the user to put their body into a "Hyper" mode. Their perception, speed, defense, and energy are all pushed to a new level for one post. The body glows covered with magical runes. +15 Perception, Speed, Defense, and Energy. As well as increasing the output and negatives of all Qi abilities used by 20%. There is a large strain on the body from this causing fatigue. Continues or repeated uses compound this fatigue on top of each other if used in succession.

Special: Preston's Grimoire +9 Energy Two Add On Slots - This item gives Preston 2 Spell Slots.  Preston may spend a spell slot to cast one of his spells of whichever Archtype he chooses.

Tome Cover [Add-On]: +8 Eng

This cover adds a protective layer to any Mage's secrets and spells. Giving Preston a passive +20 Defense bonus whenever he casts a spell that lasts three posts, twice per thread.

Unequipped: Wizard's wand + 14 energy - This item gives Preston 2 spell slots! Preston can use a spell slot to double the range/radius of a spell for a post

"Sean Can effectively create a +7 item on the fly once per thread with the ability of a power he has encountered in the thread. Item breaks at the end of thread."

Sean is a fierce combatant and should Preston need it he will switch with Preston for the remainder of a thread. Preston will be the Sprite and Sean the real person. Sean's stats will be Preston's stats equally distributed between all stats with all of Preston's abilities and gear. (All used Qi or Item uses will still be used and UP will be gained as usual.)

Qi information

Enchanter

Preston is able to channel and manipulate his Qi by drawing on the energy from the world around him. He is then able to bring that energy inside of himself and using his Qi as a catalyst to charge and convert the raw energy to various elemental attunements. Once converted these attunements allow the energy to be expelled in various ways. Generally in manners that enhance or enfeeble others, or alter the area around him. At the highest levels of his "magic" he is able to shift his archetype from supportive to offensive.

Strengths


His ability grants him a lot of versatility to change the flow of battle. With the right element and spell, he can raise his allies to new heights or drag his enemies to the ground.

Weakness

He is limited by the Archetype that he is set to means that his spells are confined to non-damaging or only damaging depending on his Archtype which can only be shifted with great effort (a whole post and use of his Ultimate)

0 Level - Rejuvenation- Holy Element - Support Archetype - Preston is able to infuse another with his Qi energy granting them another use of their Qi (Granted Qi abilities do not grant UP on use) and restores and item use. - Retribution - Holy Element - Destruction Archetype- Preston is able to infuse someone with his Qi dealing damage to them equal to the damage of the last attack that person launched. (non\Elemental Damage)

Level 0 (bonus) - Souls of the damned - Preston is able to reach inside of his target's body and pull out a target's soul to fight for him. This soul has stats equal to the target's energy stat and lasts for 4 rounds. While summoned it will follow Davy's desires and instructions without question, bound to his service. Should the target die Davy consumes the soul.

Level 0 (Bonus #2)Disruption Spark - Preston fires a bolt of blue electricity at his enemy that causes their hands to open up and offensive abilities to fizzle out for one post. Energy as damage, Offensive Qi ability disruption nullified if the targets Defense is 50% higher than Preston's Energy



Level 1 - Thin Ice - Ice Element - Support Archetype- Preston is able to cover the area in a thin layer of ice that is hard to navigate. This ice reduced everyone's speed by 75% while traveling on it unless their perception meets or exceeds his Energy Stat. Allies may add 25% of his energy to their check. Frostbite- Ice Element - Destruction\Archetype -Preston breathes out a chill frost that covers and forms over his targets flesh dealing half his energy in damage and reducing their speed by 1/4th his energy as their flesh numbs (Does not stack with repeated use) (Frost Damage) (unlocked via GM voucher)


Level 2 - Ice Wall- Ice Element - Support Archetype - Preston is able to create a barrier of thick solid ice to either block attacks or wall off an area.  Its durability is equal to his Energy stat. Blizzard- Ice Element - Destruction Archetype - Preston creates a large blizzard in the area dealing 1/2 his energy in damage to all enemies while reducing their perception by 1/2 his energy.

Level 3 -Portal - Wind Element - Support Archetype- Preston is able to create a portal that opens up to a location he is attuned to.This process takes three posts of casting without taking any damage (only consumes 1 UP per attempt) to conjure. To attune to a location he must make a thread attuning to that location and anchoring his mana there. Attuned locations: 260- Dust Devil- Wind Element - Destruction Archetype- Preston is able to conjure up a small tornado that tracks his target and attempts to suck him up. The target must pass a speed check by meeting or exceeding his energy or be lifted from the ground while he takes Preston's Energy in damage. (Wind Damage)


Level 4 -Wind's Wings- Wind Element - Support Archetype - Preston is able to create wings of wind on him and his allies granting them all a +8 to their speed stat as they begin to levitate off of the ground. This also grants some resistance to Earth and Lightning based attacks. Razor Wind- Wind Element - Destruction Archetype- Preston fires out sharp blades of Wind at his enemy dealing 125% his energy in damage. (Wind Damage) (unlocked via GM voucher)

Level 5 - Siphon Soul - Dark Element - Support Archetype - Preston inflicts his target with a leeching energy that lasts for Four posts. While under the effects of Siphon Soul all Qi uses consume an additional Qi use. Vampiric Touch- Preston can touch an enemy and drain away their life force dealing 75% of his energy stat in damage and recovering the damage dealt as health. (Disease Damage)


Level 6 - Purifying Flame- Fire Element - Support Archetype- Preston engulfs an ally in a non-damaging purifying flame that burns away all status effects and ongoing damages. Meteor Strike - Fire Element - Destruction Archetype- Preston conjures up a giant ball of fire in the sky (that requires one post to charge but consumes only 1 UP per attempt) that he hurls onto the battlefield dealing 125% his energy stat to everyone but himself. (Fire Damage)


Level 7 - The Violet Flame - Fire Element - Support Archetype- Preston is able to summon a violet flame to engulf an alley. The flame is mildly warm and does not damage flesh or clothing and instead enhances the healing abilities of the user allowing them to heal their full energy in damage. Pyroblast- Fire Element -Destruction ArchetypePreston is able to fire a large ball of flame at his target dealing his energy in damage and half his energy in damage as the flames continue to burn for four rounds unless the target spends a whole post extinguishing the flames. (Fire Damage)



Level 8 - Greased Lightning - Lightning Ability - Support Archetype- Preston is able to zap an ally to buff a stat of his choice for 1 post by 1/4his energy stat.  Divine Judgement- Lightning Ability - Destruction Archetype - Lightning rains down from the sky striking his enemies for his energy in damage and granting them a positive charge. (Lightning Damage)

Level 9 Levin Scar- Lightning Ability - Support Archetype - Preston is able to zap a target searing the brain tissue and blocking off the last Qi ability the target used for the rest of the thread. A target can not be affected by this ability more than once per thread. Polarverize - Lightning Ability - Destruction Archetype - Preston creates a ball of electricity in his hand that rips the positive charges from the enemies around them dealing 125% his energy in damage to them while dealing 25% of his energy to himself as he absorbs the energy into his hand. Level 10 - Flesh to Stone- Earth Element - Support Archetype - Preston is able to touch an ally and turn their flesh to stone granting them +8 defense for four posts. Landslide- Earth Element - Destruction Archetype - The ground in a line in front of Preston bucks and shifts throwing everyone in its path down violently dealing his energy in damage and knocking them down and away from him.  Knockdown is negated by matching or exceeding his energy with your speed. (Earth damage)

Level 11 - Gaol - Earth Element - Support Archetype - The Earth under his target's feet shifts and snaps upward to imprison them in stone. The prison may be destroyed by dealing twice his energy stat in damage to it. (Does not require it to be in a single post or single source. Stone prison may only be struck twice per post for an attempted break out or in.) Anemia- Earth Element - Destruction Archetype- Holding a hand out he is able to pull some of the iron from within your body out of your body through your flesh. A painful process that will leave his victim bleeding and in pain. 125% energy in damage and 25% his energy in damage for four posts from bleeding. (Earth Damage)

Level 12 - Mirage - Water Element - Support Archetype - Preston is able to use water vapor to make himself or someone else within his sight invisible for a post.This effect ends one the invisible target attacks someone; The Briny Deep - Water Element - Destruction Archetype - Preston summons water into your lungs by liquifying the vapor in the air. This attack deals 1/2 his energy in damage and should it cumulate to double the target'ss defense stat they are knocked unconscious. Preston must be near a body of water to use this ability and the ability may be overcome by exceeding his energy stat with yours. 20 to unlock

Level 13 - Water Shield - Water Element - Support Archetype- Preston summons a disk of water that circles it's target and persists for the thread or until it absorbs an attack. The disk can absorb up to Preston's Energy in damage. Dehydration - Water Ability - Destruction Archetype- Preston absorbs the moisture from his target's body dehydrating them and dealing his energy in damage to his target while giving them vulnerability to fire damage. (Water Damage)

Ultimate Ability: Paradigm Shift - No Element - Preston switches from Support Archetype to Destruction Archetype or back again. This ability may be used twice in a thread. When used it is the only ability able to be used in that post as it requires extreme concentration to shift his Magical Balance. 150 uses to unlock

Escape -Through the trauma of seeing people die protecting him back to back, Preston has developed a new spell!
Preston is able to shift someone near him towards himself at the speed of his Energy stat as long as the following conditions are met.
-The person is specifically protecting Preston
-The person will otherwise be struck by the attack
This spell can be used once per thread with no chance of upgrade.

Rebirth of the Sun [Qi Mutation]: Activating this ability covers you in solar fire for a few seconds in a sudden inferno that envelopes you. This can heal all of your wounds every time it's activated however it lowers all of your stats by -5. Does not restore lost stamina.

Super Ability 

Summon Noshtath - Preston is able to bridge the gap between our realm and the realm of Darkness summoning forth a dark harbinger to consume the magical energy from nearly all before it and lay waste to Preston's enemies. All targets in a 40 foot cone before Preston have their Mana drained from themselves and their equipment. All caught in the vortex suffer the loss of 10 Qi uses and 5 charges from their items. Those unable to sate the hunger of Noshtath suffer 150% of Preston's energy followed by an additional 100% of his energy. Preston may shield three people from being affected by Noshtath. Super Ability #2

Summon Vivtenanto - Preston is able to bridge the gap between our realm and the realm of Light summoning forth a benevolent guardian to shower Preston and his allies in it's glorious light. Preston and all of his allies are fully healed and gain Qi uses equal to half their max Qi uses. In three threads each player suffers from a wasting sickness, their stats being halved for the thread and their Qi uses cut in half. Each use of their Qi does their energy in damage to them for the thread.

Spirit of Sun Tzu: Sun Tzu may enact three stratagems for his master. Turtle Formation: +20 Def, Wheel Formation: +20 Spd, and Spear Formation: +20 Atk. These formations effect anyone Preston considers an Ally at the time of use and last for up to 5 posts. Only one may be used at a time, and should one be used and reach all 5 posts it can not be used again int he same thread.

Feet: Mercury's Messengers: +2 Speed, +2 Defense - These shoes seem to be imbued with the power of the winds. When utilizing wind abilities, or when fighting in a particularly windy place, he gains a +5 boost to Attack and energy. This remains for the thread. Once activated, gold veins of energy crawl up his legs, terminating just above the knees. Voucher Power Tattoo [ADD-ON]: This tattoo glows when needed adding +5 to a chosen stat. If there are any other Power Tattoo's in a thread they also activate. The Tattoos connect and add all bonuses to each other. By showing loyalty to Cabal the wearer may summon a lesser form of a Dragon's sword. Words seem to sprout from their mouth of their own will. The only incantation the ring has learned so far is;

"E ehjuga dra Mekrdhehk Tnykuh" - This summons the blade of the Lightning Dragon. This blade adds 1/2 the users ENG stat to the wielders ATK stat. This lasts four posts and can not be knocked from the wielders hand. This changes all damage types the wielder does to 'Lightning' type. Voucher

Misc: Squad 5 Ring (+1 Atk, +1 Eng) - When members of squad 5 fight together, they gain an extra 10% energy! Voucher Royal Sigil Ring (ADD-ON) - The commemorative ring marks you as a participant in the first royal ceremony of Aurora. A historic event surely not to be matched easily in times to come. This grants you new RP status among NPC's and QC's. Once per thread you may rub the sigil its self and increase the output of any one ability from Qi or Item's by 1/4th, or +16.
