Spike lit a cigarette as he stepped outside of the Lightning Tower, some recent initiate into the organization was on stand by to hold an umbrella over Spike as he stood stationary. The perpetual storm clouds over the entire country would rain on most days. He'd take a long drag from the cig before pulling it away and looking around. Letting out the cloud in his lungs he hold the cig out for the new guy who would bow and hold out a hand. His black hair was combed back today, he was wearing a solid black suit with a red tie, full finger black gloves and tucked away under his jacket was the handle of the bokken. The Lieutenant Adviser to the Oguri family had work to do today. A wanna be crime family had moved in on some business near the border from another territory. He was going to go with a crew of about eight other guys from the Oguri Family to check it out and handle it if they had to.
"A little much..."
He said to no one as he walked to the lead car which already had a driver and some of the guys. The newbie with the umbrella walked with him and opened the door for him, holding it open and following his head with the umbrella to make sure not a single drop of water landed on him. He calmly got in the back seat with the others, this was the usual enforcer group. Well to be more precise this was the entire enforcer group besides a few of the bigger names within the Oguri Family. Small red flags kept jumping up in Spike's mind, but he ignored them. There was a big group and he was the officer on this mission, which meant this was going to need to be fast and efficient.
"Let's go."
And like that the car pulled away followed by the second vehicle. It was relative silence inside the car, everyone knew the role, the job. Everyone knew how serious it was, even though it seemed minor. A new crime organization from a foreign territory trying to muscle in on the business of the Lightning Country for the first time ever. This was a show of force, but Spike had to wonder if Yun was over reacting, or knew something he didn't tell them. Which would be unlike the guy Sage had grown to be okay following within his dads organization. It also showed that Leon wasn't giving him preferential treatment and trusting him to make his own way.
It would take about an hour for the sleek black cars pulled up nearly inaudible due to the Qi Engine tech they had. Small farming village that supplied a lot of the countries fruits and vegetables, since the storm clouds didn't usually reach all the way out here it was a healthy mixture of rain and sunlight making the work easy. Everyone exited the lead vehicle and the driver opened Spike;s door for him. Etiquette he had grown used to being a made man within the family. Holding an important rank and being looked up to for his own merits. He would walk to the follow vehicle's driver window and lean down as it rolled the window down,
"Go further in to the village, check the fields and the outskirts. I'm going to go see the village leader."
The nodded their affirmation and pulled away. Spike and his crew of four would begin walking into the village, the people knew the deal and had exited their homes to bow in respect to the organization. It wasn't something they demanded, it was just done, like nodding when someone is talking to show you understand and are listening. No one really cares anymore in normal society, but people just do it. Finally making it to the main Ranch building Spike would walk up to the door and knock escorted by one of the others as the other three spread out keeping a look out. Ever vigilant. The Village head answered the door and bowed deeply when he saw Spike and the emblem on his suit jacket lapel.
"Please, come in."
Spike would offer a small and quick bow as he entered with his escort.
"Thank you. My name is Sage. I'm an officer in the Oguri Family and I came to ask your help in figuring out what has been going on, so we know what steps to take moving forward."
He laid it out very simply as they made their way to the living room to sit down and chat. The escort stayed standing to set up another position to keep a look up. The village leader was young, maybe Spike's age at this point, but that was to be expected for most places. The war didn't leave a lot of people the opportunity to grow old. He poured some tea made from some leaves they had grown in the village and brought the cups to Spike and his escort, before pouring one for himself. Spike waited for the man to drink before he did.
"Some men entered the village and broke some things, assaulted some of our people, and threatened us. The worst of it was they seemed to know, where, when, and how we were moving our Tax carriage to the capitol."
Spike's eyes would narrow hearing this. The Tax carriage was each town or villages payment to the government to keep things working. It financed the government and equipped them with the means, like the rail guns they made that work off Qi that fire pure energy. In the old days this would of been known as protection money, but the Family doesn't extort or ask for more than is manageable from each group. It's a fair price, but with how much tax is collected from everywhere high ranking officers in the family especially family heads make quite a bit.
"That is a problem. We will forgive your Tax this month, keep what you have. In return I need you to tell me any details about them you can remember. Bandits, emblems, speech patterns, a feeling while being around them. Anything you know."
The village leader bowed his head deeply in appreciation, but shook his head leaving it lowered nearly in his lap.
"I'm sorry, sir. By the time I got involved they had already made off with the carriage. I did not interact with them. You will want to talk to the village's doctor, she was worked over and took the brunt of the visit."
The mafioso nodded, must of been a smash and grab, with a threat mostly. Probably happened in around five minutes, but he could bet it felt like hours. So he would exit the building, only to find he was now facing a farming village full of enemies. His team had been either killed or captured, and the citizens were no where to be seen. Had this been a ploy to get them here? Was this a warning? Spike would reach into his jacket and pull out a pack of smokes, pulling one out he would light it and then pull his hair back and tie it off with a hair tie he had around his wrist. Lightning his cig he would blow out a puff of smoke.
"Well?"
He'd say to the group of people. They wore some bandana on their arms as a sort of flag or sign as far as he could tell. There wasn't a color scheme he could identify for now either. Someone stepped forward and spoke loudly, proud of this ruse.
"We are-"
"Dead."
Spike interrupted the man immediately.
"What?"
Sage took a drag from his cigarette.
"It doesn't matter who you are, because I have to kill you now. I was saying hurry up and attack me."
The person seemed considerably angered by this statement gritting his teeth with wild eyes as the disrespect coming off Spike could be felt by almost everyone there. Closing his eyes even as he pulled the cigarette from his mouth, letting out the smoke as he opened them, black markings appearing on his face, the whites of his eyes melting into a black nothingness and turning to a soft glowing gold. His mouth would form a sick smile as he charged them, catching everyone off guard as he went incredibly fast. Black flames erupting from his body as he went even faster, the first person he came into contact with didn't even know what hit them as Spike's fist caved his face in, the skin wrapping partially around his fist from the sudden impact alone, hurtling the man into the rest, someone attacking from behind would find a cigarette thrown at them with a flick from Spike slapping them in the face and causing them to flinch as Spike leaning into his punching force lifting his leg backwards to put the sole of his foot into his face clothes lining the guy from his own momentum before stomping downward crushing him into the ground. Blood and teeth flying upwards like he had just stomped in a puddle.
Spike had to twist as a weapon that looked like a jagged sword swung by him, gripping the wrist and throwing a kick upwards into the back of the persons head he would flip the person falling low with them to duck under another swing, breaking the arm with the leverage he had and pulling the weapon free Spike would roll forward past the one who swung at him slicing into his stomach as he did so. an energy ball would hit the ground in front of him exploding and kicking up dust, as another one hit him, his battle aura shutting off momentarily as he was stumbled from the hit. However it would flare back up as he used his Seikatsugan eyes to track the energy balls and destroy them with the weapon he had procured, finding where they came from instantly he would hurl the sword in an arc as it spun like a Frisbeekilling the caster. Leaping into the distance he would kick away the weapon swung at him from below landing on someone and dropping an elbow into their face he would roll off of them int he same motion kicking his feet out to block two weapons being swung down at him. Holding himself up with one hand and his elbow on the persons face looking at the two swinging weapons with a smile. Holding their arms at bay by the elbows with his feet locking them in place, stuck in mid swing momentarily from shock and awe.
Spike would push off the ground with his free hand, and their arms with his feet to go into a spin on his elbow... On the guys face then kick out once more into their wrists forcing them to let go of their weapons, but also propelling those weapons into each of their chests as if they had stabbed each other. Kicking out and pushing off the ground once more he would rotate up to a standing position gripping the blade handles with each hand as he landed and they fell, ripping them free and charging forward again! Deflecting two sword swings cutting off a leg here, and through a neck there, he would narrowly bend backwards and avoid a throwing knife slicing his chin a bit. His eyes would move a hundred miles per hour finding and tracking the nearest aura, coming back up he would thrust the blade in his right hand forward through a skull while resting the left blade on his shoulder to block a large ax like object which actually hit with quite a bit of force. Causing him to bend a knee. Ripping the thrusting sword from the skull of the person in front of him he would reverse grip it and thrust it backwards from his kneeling position into the attackers abdomen.
The large attacker would fall and Spike was on the move again cutting down another would be assailant, but feeling a burning sensation in his left leg. Spike would look down to see the end of a blade jutting through his calf. Gritting his teeth his eyes followed the blade, it had extended through the crowd and stabbed him without his eyes catching it, which was a feat alone. Kicking his foot out to pull it free of the stab would he would catch another person under the chin, using the force of the kicks impact to bring the leg down and twist with the momentum to turn towards the sword and swinging a blade with the twist to cut down the person he just kicked he would charge with a limp this time playing rather defensively trying to reach the person extending their sword.
Finding them fast enough they had retracted their blade to it's regular size, Spike threw one of his swords at the man who deflected it and leapt at him with a vicious swing which the guy deflected, his blade began extending again and Spike with his free hand swiped it passed the guys head as the tip of the sword penetrated Spike;s chest going through. Everyone froze for a moment thinking Spike was done for finally. Valiant effort as it was, it all ended with a foolish mistake. Until they looked closer. In Spike;s free hand was the handle to a wooden sword and extending from it a black blade of plasma and fire. The man's sword retracted back to it's normal size and he fell over, his head rolling free of his body. Spike would turn around towards the group as his bleeding wounds burned away, closing as if they had never been there.
"Well?"
The people backed up a bit as Spike put the Bokken Handle back.
