A (Thorn) in my (Pride)

[Thorn Wyatt]

"...I don't know."

He doesn't know what he doesn't know.

"What should I learn?"

[Pride]

"Hell if I know. I mean, what do you want?"

[Thorn Wyatt]

Well. That's an easy question.

"To be with my family. What do you want?"

[Pride]

"To go home."

Also easy, but you don't always get what you want. So he'd shrug.

"Family is important."

He agreed with Thorn on that.

"Close to yours?"

[Thorn Wyatt]

"I know them."

Was perhaps the easiest way to explain it.

"Sometimes we want to go home too. Why haven't you?"

[Pride]

"So that's a no then?"

It was an odd answer. Pride just shrugged again.

"Not welcome there anymore."

[Thorn Wyatt]

"We are close."

Thorn's brow furrows. He doesn't understand.

"Why aren't you welcome?"

[Pride]

"You don't seem sure of that though."

Cause it seemed to Pride that he changed his answer.

"And they are afraid we will bring ruin on them. So we were told to leave."

[Thorn Wyatt]

"It is a complicated answer to give."

Thorn admits. It's not that he's holding back, it's that he's not sure exactly how to put it.

"Would you bring ruin to them?"

[Pride]

"Not intentionally. But it's possible something can happen that I do not foresee. I didn't get that gift."

It was pretty rare. The only person he'd ever met that had the gift of future sight was his Mom, and she was dead now.

He leaned back to look over at Thorn.

"What makes it complicated. Either you are close to them or you are not."

[Thorn Wyatt]

"Unintentionally dangerous."

Thorn nods. He understood that.

"I am close to my sister. My parents are not as affectionate or understanding as she is."

He looks down at the branch and shrugs.

"But they are still good to me."

[Pride]

"You the older sibling?"

[Thorn Wyatt]

Thorn shakes his head.

"I am the younger."

[Pride]

"Well, be nice to your Sister then. It's hard to be the older sibling."

[Thorn Wyatt]

"It is?"
