Investigators Unite! (Cara/Cain/GM)

[Xapham]

Xapham would message the others to give them the location of where he was at in the Zekunft capital. He figured this would be the best place to begin their search. He hoped the other two discovered more information to narrow their search.

[Cain Rhamos]

It takes a while, since Cain made some pit stops, but he eventually shows up.

He looks around for Xapham and Cara!

[Cara Dunn]

Cara would be the last to arrive, given she had to take care of a toxic snake corpse before joining the boys all the way on the other side of the country. At least it was a fairly straight shot once there, other than the normal checkpoint and whatever else they had for border patrol and security.

She did have to wonder why they were meeting up in another territory without a plan, a thought that lingered in her mind as she walked through the city streets of Zekunft, looking for either Xapham or Cain. She did her best to stay near the entrance, hoping to find one of them there. It would be risky to talk out here, so she assumed Xapham had information he could hint at or a safe location to talk freely.

[Xapham]

Once everyone was gathered Xapham would greet them and take them back to the lodging he had procured for travels in Zekunft Capital. Once in a room he would turn to them.

"So, what did the two of you discover during your search?"

[Cain Rhamos]

Cain flicks the collar of his coat.

"I'm a God."

[Cara Dunn]

Cara is frowning so hard she probably reminds Xapham a little of Joy.

"Is it safe to talk here?" Then, after half a breath, "Why are we here?"

[Xapham]

Xapham would look at Cara completely ignoring Cain's useless addition.

"I paid for this room. It might not be 'safe' but you would be hard pressed to find anything more secure. Sorry if this lodging isn't good enough for you to discuss what you discovered."

Xapham rubbed his face.

"Apologies. It was a long journey and I had to deal with some... unfortunate family matters. We are here because I learned the name of our assassin, and the knowledge that he is here in Zekunft. I was hoping you two would have found some information to narrow down our search."

[Cain Rhamos]

"Did I not?"

Oh.

"...uh... well, I heard that Ares didn't care that his meeting got ruined."

[Cara Dunn]

"Who the hell hired you?" Cara planted her hands on her hips, looking up at Xapham with her head tilted to one sigh. "Listed, doll, I'm glad you got some info, but if your first thought was to run here after we settled to meet someplace else - and we are now on the other side of the continent in enemy territory where this assassin is supposed to be, I gotta wonder where your mind really is.

"Now, I'll accept your apology since we have a sensitive situation, but I don't need you snapping at me for your choices." She huffed, tossing a braid over her shoulder and crossing her arms over her chest. She didn't know what to make of Cain's revelation other than she didn't expect anyone to want to talk about it. Maybe he just didn't like to talk as much.

"The serpent is rare, very dangerous, and hard to get hold of, let alone kill. It's from Dragon Hearth, but you have to be very specific about how you go about it if you don't want to die yourself. You don't go about getting one without going through a lot of trouble that could get you killed first; this was chosen for a reason." It wasn't just any means of assassination.

[Xapham]

"Listen. Girl. I changed our meeting location because I found out more than I expected any of us to find. The location of our target. So, I changed our meeting point to here. I'm sorry you don't approve."

Xapham rubbed his eyes again. Babysitting... just the best.

"Listen, if you two would prefer to leave, that's fine, especially now that it has become aware that Ares doesn't even care. Personally it cost me a LOT to get this information, so I need to see this through to the end."

[Cain Rhamos]

"Easy, whiny boy, I'm here, let's get this shitshow started."

Cain shrugs.

"I'll do the heavy lifting."

[Cara Dunn]

"Hopefully it was worth it." She sighed and unfolded her arms as Cain spoke up, refocusing on the current situation they were in. But she woudln't forget.

"Well, heavy lifting or lot, a name is a start. What is it? Do they have any kind of reputation?"

[Xapham]

"The man's name is Rich Bennet, as for reputation, I do not know. I only just recently got here myself before you two. I haven't done much of any searching."

He would lean back in his chair.

"I figured we could all rest for today, and starting tomorrow we could go out and look for any information about the man that we can find."

[Cain Rhamos]

"...are we sharing this room?"

Cain actually sounds horrified.

[Cara Dunn]

So they had a name, but no reputation. Cara wasn't sure if that said more about Xapham, or the assassin.

"I see." She was tired, but one look at the room suggested at least another one would be good. She shrugged at Cain's horror.

"I've shared a bed with my siblings. This place is almost twice as big as our room. I'll look around the city some more, see what's what. You two can have fun sharing a bed tonight if you want."
