Christmas didn’t exist in Dirt.
But, that didn’t stop Stigma from learning all about it. At some point she had shyly tucked herself away between some shelves in the library, unable to bring herself to leave because two girls were having a discussion nearby, unaware of her presence. Coming out not would just be so embarrassing. So naturally, eavesdropping was the more polite option.
They spoke of spending time with their family and the excitement of giving gifts. It all sounded so lovely. Maybe she would bring this tradition back home and offer it as an idea? It sounded like something that might bring happiness to some of the citizens. Perhaps even the slaves would feel encouraged.
It took a while for the girls to finish chatting, but by the time they left and Stigma could crawl out shamefully, she’d been given a LOT to think about. And also a lot of ideas of what people were supposed to like as gifts.
Since she wasn’t going to see her mom and dad until after this festivity, she didn’t have to worry about getting them gifts right away. She did have at least a few people here that she could trial test giving a gift to…but she only felt brave enough to offer one to her brother. Maybe if that was a good enough experience, she’d try gift-giving a bit further.
After gathering some supplies wherever she could…which also involved “stealing” from others (though she didn’t quite realize she was), Stigma was able to both find a gift, AND wrap it up nicely! Well. “Nicely”. At the very least it was wrapped if not a bit…crumpled.
She would knock on her brother’s door, only to find he wasn’t answering. Since it seemed like he was probably out, she’d gently set the gift down in front of his door, then put a little card on top to let him know it was for him, and from her.

Hopefully when he’d be back, he’d find a nice surprise. A scarf someone probably made for their loved one that Stigma had just taken credit for.
