The door is kicked open as Simon strides into his family home, presents piled high in his arms to the point where he can barely see where he's going. He works his way inside before dropping the entire pile next to the tree. Not under, oh no, that would be too easy. It has to go off to the side where other people can pick out their gifts.
He looks around, frowning.
"Wait, is this everybody?"
Sure, Rowan was there, who had at least five presents to himself from his twin. Avalon had another four, and he'd gotten his parents one for each of them.

Naturally, the parents are surprised to hear such a statement, and ask how long he's going to stay, to which Simon just shrugs.

The household explodes with protests, as Simon spends basically the next few hours in a shouting match with the family about how he's a grown man, he can do what he wants. They let Preston do it, why can't he head off to another territory, even if it's dangerous!?
In the end, his parents acquiesce, however reluctantly, since he admittedly isn't as far along in his studies as Preston is. Still, it makes for a pretty awkward Christmas for the rest of the night.
