Being that this is the world of XIN, it's only fitting that we gain the ability to perform super-human acts of acrobatics, strength, and have a group of people worshiping the ground we walk on. And we can get all of those, save for the last one unless we use NPC's. But hey, get enough charisma, and you can justify having a small group of NPC's bow before you. Personally, I kind of got fed up with charisma being the "obligatory" 5-point section of a characters statistics. So without further ado, I give you a reason to have a good charisma score.
Qi Abilities
By: Atticus Wagner
Qi abilities in the world of XIN allow for the expansion or addition of an individual's skills. XIN himself had the ability to nearly instantaneously set his broken bones in place and hold them together while he fought. Another character, Ralph, could set his fists on fire for a stronger attack capability. So if they could do that kind of stuff, why can't we? After all, we're so much cooler than those XIN guys, or at least the Goth guy...
So here are some basic proposed rules for making your own Qi ability.
CHA is the base stat. Why? Because Qi is one's personal energy, put to work in the physical world. Charisma is the force of one's personality, which is about as close as you can get to personal energy from the six base stats. "Oh come on! Nobody has a charisma above 5, so our abilities are gonna suck!" Good. That's what you get for sticking a 5 in one of your stats. (Yes, yes... I know there are higher charisma scores. It's an exaggeration.)
A Qi ability cannot raise a stat by more than 50% of the user's CHA stat. It cannot be used to lower another players stat by more than 25% of the user's CHA stat. This is becasue the user's body is always exposed to it's Qi, whereas another player isn't. Up to an additional 100% of the player's CHA can be added to a player's stats, so long as those points are also taken away from their stats on a 1-for-1 basis, but this aditional effect can only take place on the user themselves. (In other words, if your charisma is 20, you can add up to 10 to another stat or stats [divided as you choose]. Then, you can take up to 20 points from your stats to add 20 points elsewhere.)
As for stat pumps/reductions, a stat cannot go below 5 (save for an offensive stat drop, see below), nor can any points be added to a player's CHA stat. This is just to minimize Qi abuse.
Stats reduced below 5 have adverse effects on players.
1-4 STR ---> Weak muscles, temporary dex of 5, zero attack ability.
0 STR ---> Paralysis until Qi wears off.
1-4 DEX ---> Zero mobility, cannot dodge attacks.
0 DEX ---> Paralysis until Qi wears off.
1-4 CON ---> Bodily weakness, double damage.
0 CON ---> Knocked out until Qi wears off.
1-4 INT ---> Stupidity, cannot dodge attacks.
0 INT ---> Paralysis until Qi wears off.
1-4 WIS ---> Stunned, 1/2 dexterity, cannot dodge attacks.
0 WIS ---> Knocked out until Qi wears off.
1-4 CHA ---> Tired, cannot use Qi.
0 CHA ---> Knocked out until Qi wears off.
Qi abilities cannot have a range outside of the user's body, so no hadoken balls...
An ability can only last for a number of posts equaling half the user's charisma score.
PLEASE do not include "(Your name)'s hair becomes blonde and spikey." in the description of the Qi ability. Seriously. Don't.
Now, a Qi ability does NOT have to involve stat-alteration. Just use your imagination and try to make sure it's balanced.
Also, you don't have to have a Qi ability.
ADDEMNDUM 1: Rounding
When rounding points added through Qi, round down. (So 50% of 17 CHA is considered 8).
When rounding points taken away by 1-for-1 Qi abilities, round in a way that makes the point add and removal equal.
When rounding points taken away by an offensive Qi, round down. (25% of 27 is considered 6).
When rounding Qi duration, round up. (So 23 CHA allows for 12 posts of Qi ability).
IF there's another situation that requires rounding, round down.
Qi Ability Form
Ability Name: Duh.
Ability Effect: Get right down to it, and explain exactly what the ability does. Stat changes, special effects, etc.
Description: What actually happens when you use the ability in terms of looks, sounds, and whatnot.
Qi Examples
Ability Name: Ralph's Strong Rushmore/Burst
Ability Effect: Anything touched ignites into flames, causing appropriate damage. This fire does not effect Ralph.
Description: Ralph's hands burst into flames that engulf up to his elbows. This is accompanied by the smell of burning magnesium, and the sound of a raging forest fire. Ralph will call out the attack he is using, Strong Rushmore or Strong Burst. Rushmore is a single strike, meant for just one person. Burst is a series of uncontrolled punches, used to take care of many people at the same time.
Ability Name: XIN's Bone Shredding.
Ability Effect: Fixes broken bones temporarily, using Qi to hold them together.
Description: Not much visually, XIN sets the broken bone by contracting his muscles. He feels intense pain during this, and often coughs up blood. Then, his Qi wraps around the bone, keeping it stable for the rest of the fight. There is always a disturbing amount of cracking noise that accompanies the setting of the bone, which could disgust the faint of heart.
Ability Name: Goth's Endurance
Ability Effect: 150% of CHA added to CON, 25% CHA removed from STR, DEX, INT, and WIS.
Description: Not really so much a visual effect as most abilities might, the endurance Goth has allows him to withstand multiple hits for extended periods of time. By doing this, he can wear out an opponent, as they spend far too much time trying to whittle away at his endurance. Damage taken while under the Qi effect is left "as is" after the Qi wears off.
