It had been done.
Vespyr's nocturnal patterns had finally been demolished like an unconventional pagan religion that died out for lack of worshippers. She found herself incapable of resuming sleep during the daytime as she always had; something about her stay with Scene had jarred her normal routine and now she found, to her demise, that the only time she ever felt tired was in the nighttime. The girl was not fond of this; she was insomniatic enough, but now having to be active while the sun was out? Blasphemy!
This thought in mind, she hoped with frustration that she'd be back on schedule sometime soon as she strolled quietly along the sidewalk, on her way into the deeper parts of the city where she might be able to scare up some fun to keep herself occupied. I'm awake... might as well do something to tire myself out.
Fleesh padded at her heels, darting every so often between her legs, his one eye watchful and merry. Vespyr envied his cheery mood and assured herself that he was still young, and still very ignorant... He had a lot to learn. But for now, she allowed the kitten to enjoy his childhood... while it lasted...
The coldblooded femme sighed as the sun beat down on her back; she felt like she was in an oven... it was the end of August in southern California, where else could possibly be warmer? And in the city, shade seemed to be like a distant memory. Everywhere she went, the white sidewalk tormentingly reflected the harsh sunlight off its face, waves of heat emanating up from it. Crossing across the black asphalt of the street was out of the question. Vespyr and her feline acquantance turned the corner, hoping for some sort of parkbench that was safe from the sun's reach, happy thoughts of winter nights forced into her mind like a child would bite their thumb whilst recieving an injection from the doctor.

The beast that seemed to hound daylight as if it were nothing more then a beligerant ass, seemed to release its choke hold as well. He usually spent early mornings doing what he was doing now, given that the sun had not yet risen, and the moon was floating almost out of sight. It was a balance. A perfect but quite delicate one. It was in this time that he enjoyed his current course of action, and yet for some reason the timing had been set apart from its usual, and found him there, people not as common as one would assume, but a few coming by none the less.
The boy stood nearly naked, save for a set of shorts boxers wore quite frequently. That body of his was soaked with sweat, drops flinging every which was as he stepped in time with the beat that flew into his ears. He saw no purpose for fighting.. and yet, here this male was striking an inanimate but alive object as if it were a foe. Shins shifting striking first low. A blow to the knee. Then they came up slightly, cracking the thigh of an invisible opponent, finally just above the ribs, caving in the side and most likely causing internal damage to a weaker specimen.
He drew back, body twisting and turning as he rose up and dropped back down, tip of his elbow landing squarely on what would have been the forehead of a person his height. Part of the bark had been worn down and away from him striking it repeatedly. Some of his limbs were red with increased blood flow from impact, and yet they would not bruise had he had done this to the point of monotony throughout his life, and yet the pain seemed to send a shiver up his spine.. masochistic? Perhaps.
Eitherway, after a sideways strike from his right elbow he would have stepped back and shook himself out some, relaxing a bit after the workout he had just had. His hands came up and down, flinging residule sweat away from his body and looking over it instead. Barbells glinted in the sunlight as he backed away from the tree, not the sort you used for lifting, however, as they were pierced through his nipples, one in each. Wiping hands off on the outside of those shorts he would have run a single hand up through his air, breathing out in comfort.
"Mm..." A like of his lips and he realized just how dry his mouth had become, akin to cotton being shoved inside actually, the first signs of dehydration. Walking over to the nearby bench he would have hopped over the back of it and plopped himself down on it, picking up a bottle and towel nearby, dabbing the towel around his body and taking rather long gulps from the bottle itself. Earbuds still lodged in his ears were blasting the sounds of Nas's song Hero.

Vespyr's keen ears had caught a curious sound and she paused, staring curiously ahead at a rather unclothed young male who was performing... fighting strategies, she inferred... on a rather weary looking tree. She observed with a meager stir of amusement as he beat the thing harshly, however, with a slight grimace at his appearance. Pierced nipples? What a lack of taste...
She felt a small flutter of disappointment as he seated his sweaty figure on the only shaded bench in view, which meant more walking through the baking heat for her, and--
Fleesh seemed to feel differently, taking a sudden bounding stride into the welcoming shade. The feline took a seat beneath the bench, causing Vespyr to grit her teeth in frustration. She continued to walk, her the tail of her black coat swaying behind her as she moved forward, past the bench, hoping that if she kept walking the cat would follow... To her demise, he was insistant on staying in the cool spot, creating an immediately awkward situation for the girl. With a scowl, she walked back toward the bench, her eyes avoiding the sweaty body that resided there, and bending down, she attempted to scoop the cat into her arms.
With a small purr and a muttered curse from Vespyr, he stubbornly scooted himself back and out of her reach. She glared for a moment, and he looked back at her contentedly. "Fine." she growled, glancing, quite embarrassed now, at the seated male for a moment before fluidly placing herself on the bench beside him, still grumbling inaudibly under her breath.

Brow cocked as an animal came darting over towards the bench, did not even flench, animals after all were not his issue.. it was what came with the animal after a little while that was. He offered a slightly weak smile to the girl and a nod.. was that what he was supposed to do? He could not really remember what his mother was rambling on about now.. probably would have been better, and either way he would have just nodded, mentally this time, and to himself. Akane went about his business, finishing with the drying process and dropping the towel around the back of his neck letting it hang drapping from it.
Another long drink of water would have ended his silence as a refreshed sound came afterwards. " I take it this is your cat?" Well.. of course it was, how could it not be, and after he had said it he realized how stupid it had been to say something like that, but well, he had never been good with idle chit chat. The male tugged on the black leather collar around his neck slightly, rubbing the towel up underneath it and drying the skin before it got rubbed the wrong way and left him chaffed.
He finished off that bottle and set it at his side, tossing momentary glances over at the girl, examining her.. much like he did most other people that were close enough for it to have a purpose. Those hues shifted around her form, taking it in, picking out bits that he could place in one area or another. Tall for a female, that much he could pick up instantly, Akane stood a good half a foot taller or more then the girl but that did not cease his amazement in the least. All the females he had seen up to this point were like cherubs.. tiny little balls of fluff. She had something different about her.

"Er, yes... My cat." Vespyr said, her voice low and monotonous. Her hands fidgeted nervously in her lap, pretending to be picking at her fingernails, a clear sign that she was not good around people. She wasn't socially awkward, but rather lacked adequate social skills, which included talking to and/or being in the presence of random strangers; the anxious knot in her gut was made worse by the fact that the male was half-naked and sweating. Her fine-tuned nose was suffering through the unpleasant aroma, twitching slightly in disgust, but she said nothing; not for fear of rudeness, for she didn't really give a shit about what people thought of her manners... but she didn't feel like talking.
She noticed, out of the corner of her eye, that he was glancing every so often in her direction, and she cocked an eyebrow. Not assuming that he was 'checking her out', as most of the contemporaries liked to say, but it was rather uncomforting. Like someone waggling a finger at the corner of your vision, never quite brushing your eyelashes, but close enough to make you flinch in the most annoying manner...
Finally she turned her head abruptly, her violet eyes locking onto his. "What?" she said briskly, in a manner reflecting her irritation. The male would most likely think she was overreacting; which she was, but that was the way her conscience forced her to react. If every action was an overreaction... so be it. It kept people away from her, which she preferred.

Wham. Verbal whip to the chest. At least to Akane, but he had a tendency to overreact too you see. He stuttered slightly, cheeks turning a tint of red, which was easily given the fact that his flesh was nice and light, not a hint of tan to be found. "I.. um.. Sorry. " How to explain that he was examining her without sounding like some sort of creep? Or maybe thats what it was and trying to would only make it seem worse. Mental hurdles in the retard Olympics it seemed.
He was thinking words over... hell, he had contemplating just bolting when she had turned to him like she had, instead, sitting there, hands tugging at that collar once more nervously, the faint sound of music barely audible now that the buds had fallen from his ears and lay about the towel still hanging from around behind his neck and draped over shoulders. "I did not mean to stare.. Its just that I... well. I . Hmm.." Yup, now he was stammering publicly with trying to figure out how to explain it, wincing slightly he sighed and laid back.
"Calm down.. " He muttered under his breath to himself. " I just have not seen many females like you is all.. most of the girls I have seen around here are cheerful little cherubs whom try to rip your larynx out while being nice. " Yup. That explained it well enoug right? After all it was true.. well, for the most part, assumptions were assumptions. His hands came down and dropped to the bench, resting against the edge as he slouched against the back slightly trying to relax. His heart racing. After all, social anxiety was just not a problem she had, he had it quite bad as well, probably from the fact he often got fucked with.. you wouldn't know it by looking at him training but the OX sitting on the bench was a big pacifist baby.

Vespyr narrowed her eyes slightly, judging him, wieghing him... The way he had nervously apologized had indeed caught the girl off guard; she was expecting some sort of "Chillax, emo bitch!" which would have been unsurprising coming from someone of his appearance; how he appeared to her, at least, as just another highschool boy trying to look badass. But no, he was curt, and seemed to have deflated into a skittish twerp at her concise sharpness. Ah, the viciously toxic tongue never failed...
However, the latter part of his stammered excuse caught her attention, and she looked skeptically at him, supressing a wicked giggle as exciting morbid thoughts ran through her mind. She wallowed in them, grinning sadistically on the inside. But she wouldn't lay a finger on the male, because she didn't pick fights unless provoked... though when she was taunted or prodded into a fury, anyone nearby often indubitably regretted it. But the boy's light casting of the comment-the ripping of the throats- came as a great amusement to the vitiated femme.
"Oh, boy, you have no idea." she said darkly, leaning back against the bench with a smirk, her eerie lilac gaze settling on a nonspecific point in front of her, feeling much more lighthearted than before. The torrid heat wasn't getting to her any longer, at least.

He took it for what it was, an exertion of mental dominance at his comment.. oh, she looked like she could rip someones throat out, make no mistake, that was not what he was implying. To make sure of that he spoke once more, a little more relaxed now that he had steadied his mind. " Mm.. was not implying you incapable of windpipe crushing, merely that you don't sit behind some facade.. waiting like some wolf in sheeps clothing to ambush a person with a smile. " It was nice, knowing that you could expect somewhere in your gut that you would be attacked...
Girls were bad about that. He could not count the amount that had instead of just assaulting him played it off as some nicey nice routine.. those were the worst. He'd rather just be pummeled by some over bearing idiot, although lately the fists had come to the point that they did not even bother him. He assumed a lot about this girl even though he had not even been given her name yet. Well. For one. He had noticed the kitten with a lack of a pair of eyes.. those nicey nice types would not be caught dead with what they would consider damaged goods. She certainly did not have that 'Daddy puhlease' smile either.
God. He hated that fucking smile.. with a passion. Even though he never said anything about it.. it hid itself away under the surface. He picked up his bottle, fiddling about with it, obviously still under some influence of nervousness, not really trying to overcome it either, but in the end it seemed his voice would slip free again before he allowed her. " Im Akane by the way. " He set the bottle in his lap and offered that large hand out to her.. its what normal people did right?

A wolf in sheep's clothing... No, indeed, Akane was correst; she was not a wolf in sheep's clothing.
She was a lioness.
The smile had gone from her face by now, replaced by somewhat of a scowl as the boy offered his hand and his name; as she'd made a clear point of it before, she didn't see the point in names, or handshakes for that matter. Why did people always insist on being immediately friendly toward one another? It was needless and soft. A tradition that Vespyr rejected entirely.
Hence, she did not return his salutation, leaving her hands in her lap, the sharp clawlike fingers twitching slightly. She did not happily offer her name in return for his, wearing a stupid smile on her face as she did so, as if she was genuinely-or even faking- interested in anything the boy had to say.
Her eyes fixed cynically upon his large paw, then moved up to his eyes before returning to the horizon of buildings with an agitated sigh. "Fleesh," she said, adressing the cat, becoming impatient. The cat replied with a small meow, emerging lazily from beneath the bench, his one eye dancing questioningly between his mistress and the sweating Akane. Vespyr rose and turned on her heel in one fluid motion, walking in the direction she had come from without a word to the male. The cat followed, glancing darkly at Akane for a moment before he trailed lovingly behind Vespyr's fluttering black trenchcoat.

So thats how it was going to be? Hrm. Interesting girl, he'd definitely have to keep her face on file.. by that mental file mind you, it was not like he had some kind of hidden camera he carried around, though that would be amusing at the mall, paricularly where girls with short skirts liked to roam.. hey hey now, he was a boy, what'd you expect? Eitherway, she called the cat in an impatient manner and got up, walking away from him.
Oh ho.. not even a name? No comment was offered though, merely dropped towel beside him since the sweat had stopped coming and his body had calmed itself back to a more natural state. He threw on his shirt and tossed the towel over his shoulder, loose lo-tops barely clinging to those massive feet as he got up off the bench, bottle, towel, and the rest of his junk in tow as he chased off after her. "Mm, even if niceities are not your thing, it wouldn't kill you to toss me your name you know." Of course, his social anxiety took a backseat to his curiousity, it always seemed to do that. She had caught his eye, and now the stammering fool had lost all sense of that "shy" boy mess he was content with most of the time.

Vespyr stopped, glaring ahead of her for a brief moment before turning ever so slowly, her eyes narrowed slightly.
"Really now, are you sure about that?" she spoke, slowly, her voice laced with morbidity and... something else, dark and dangerous. She turned so that she faced him completely, leaning comfortably against a fence as she did so, her arms crossing over her chest in a relaxed manner, yet ready to strike at any moment should her inner homicidal maniac take over. Which was improbable.
"Sure it wouldn't kill me to tell you my name? Or would it kill you not to know?" she asked regally, emphasizing the word in an obvious way, almost to be suggestive at what she'd love to do to him. What she'd love to do to anybody... Mostly, though, she was just poking fun at his need to follow the manners of society. Handshakes, names, all needless. Her eyes, still narrowed, bored into his mesmerizingly. This boy, however, would not undestand. She could sense that he was far too innocent-minded.. And would probably think her creepy, as many otherseveryone else did. If he were to react so, the judgement would pass indifferently over her. If not, things could get interesting.

"Ohh... is that a threat?.. " That got a grin.. somehow this girl seemed to remove any sense of reason he had. Bah. Mother and Father were always on about influence.. was this it? As for innocent? Pft. We wouldn't say that, as he was far from innocent, more that he just did not see the point in "good" or "bad" as all it did was lead to the same thing. Bullshit.
"It may well kill me.. never know when you're gonna need to know something you know. " The word know used far too many times he looked her over again, an idle lick over his lower lip as he had been nibbling at it the entire time this short little conversation was going on between the two. "Besides.. if you're thinking about killing me, well, can't say Ive never thought about what happens when you die. " Brow cocked as she seemed to be putting off some sort of vibe.. the sort that was meant to... scare him off? Was that it? Creep him out. Hrm. He could not be sure, but because of that it only interested him all the more.
When his interest was piqued as it was, chances are she was not going to get rid of him without a fight.. granted he would not strike back so it would not be a very amusing fight, but thats what it would end up coming too if thats what she wanted. Once all was said and done he leaned back slightly, hands slipping down into his pockets as he leaned back, handshakes were not her thing, he caught that much before. "So. Whats your name?"

Vespyr's brow raised in silent amusement as Akane spoke, his manner changing into a way that could have been.. trying to be tough? Something like that. She sighed, relaxing into the fence a little further, it was clear now that the boy wouldn't give up so soon. She couldn't really say that it bothered her that much; she was awfully bored and, indeed, had intended to seek some sort of entertainment whilst out of the house today. Having this not-so-cliche specimen of teenager to analyze would provide adequate fun, surely. And who knew... maybe she'd have some blood on her hands before the sun went down today, if she was lucky. But she didn't dwell on the idea; she, then again, wasn't one to start a fight.
For a moment she contemplated further withholding her identity for the sake of tormenting Akane; would he become frustrated, his entire day put off in shadow of her denial? Or would he shrug it off and give up the ghost? Let's find out.
"Perhaps," she began, the corners of her black cherry lips twisting upward into a coy grin, "Its Sarah. No, wait, maybe its Emily.." She feigned uncertain, biting her lip and furrowing her brow in a most sarcastic manner, her eyes twinkling back at his in dark playfulness.
The cat had now seated himself in the lee between her combat boots, one crossed over the other, his eye looking out from the shadow at Akane evaluatively, judging, weighing, slightly mistrusting. Impressionable cat. Still young. Absolutely adorable...

Question was, what was she basing her assumptions off of, as like what she seemed intent on showing some people did not just display everything like a book. Granted. Most people did, an most people were oblivious to it, but we would not get into that, another time and place and all that. Two names, Sarah.. Emily.. No no. She did not look or feel like a Sarah or Emily at wrong, there was always a chance he could be wrong, but there was certainly something else she went by.. thats what he wanted.
This would not be easy, well, he knew that before, this just secured that thought to the forefront. His own brow cocked up as he licked lips and let them part to slip free what thought had just flew through it. "Sarah.. and Emily... Sarah-lee?" A mental snigger at that. "Like those awesome cheesecakes? YOU make those?" Head tilted.. trying his hardest to make it look like he was true to what he was saying, there were hints of his inner laughter at his own bad pun, partially because of his stupidity, and partially because of the thought of her in an apron cheerily making cheesecake.
Either way he shook it from his head. "Well. I do know one name here. Fleesh." He'd remembered it, and with that he would have crouched down some towards the ground, looking at the cat. "Thats your name right little one?" He said looking him over whilst rolling a few things around in the back of his head, trying to figure out how to properly approach the situation. The animal?.. Hmm. Would that work? He asked himself before he glanced back up at her. "But I did not think you'd make it easy.. question is how many fake ones will you toss about before checkmate?"

Vespyr gave him a sore look in response to the stupid pun, which she obviously did not 'get'. (in her vagabond state, she rarely had time for cheesecake)
Her eyes narrowed as he crouched and spoke endearingly to the cat, and a small grin crept to her lips. Bad idea. Providing that Akane was within reach, Fleesh would lash out in an instant, reaching to strike his face somewhere with his tiny, razor-sharp claws. Vespyr would laugh as he did so, throwing her head back, her blonde-and-pink hair tossed gently into the breeze that was now beginning to pick up. Now that made her day, whether the cat hit his target or not. Oh, Fleesh. She loved the little tyke so dearly.
Provided that the male would stand upon the kitten's outburst, she would look at him with a dark smile shining in her eyes.
"Depends," she said, shrugging an answer to his challenge. "If you tell me why you so desperately need to bend to society's standards and know my name, then maybe I'll toss the right one your way. So how 'bout it? Why do you want to know so badly?"
