Last night, when I couldn't sleep, I thought of an idea.
I'm not much of a fighter on this board, mainly because I'm too lazy to get them started and what not. I like to stick to storyline-based threads, or other things. Anyways, I thought ... fighting is not the ONLY way to become stronger. However, that's pretty much how you have to go about raising your stats on this board. Sure, you can buy items to make your stats higher. I've thought of a pretty logical way for people to spend some extra cash they may have toward making themselves stronger.
Statistic Training!
This is a rough draft on how I perceive it to work:
Let's say ... Joe just got his first thirty-four posts done, and he finds himself with 102 dollars. It's not enough to buy an item just yet, but that's pretty much the only thing he can spend his money on. What's the use of having small amounts of dollars if you can't really do anything with it? Well, Joe isn't much of a fighter anyways ... he's more of the bookish type. He really doesn't need items anyways since he doesn't like to fight. So ALL that money is just collecting up, but for no reason at all, because he has nothing to spend it on.
Here's where it kicks in.
Joe's grades are starting to slip because he just moved from a freshman to a sophomore, and because he hasn't gotten into any fights, his intelligence has pretty much remained the same. However, he now has around 1000 dollars - but nothing to spend it on.
How can we help Joe out?
Well, send him to "After Hour Studies" (AKA - Intelligence Training), that's how! For 100 dollars, Joe can stay after school and get help from his professor. ($100 per 1 point sounds reasonable, even though $50 sounds more logical.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think this is a good way to take control of one's money, and help raise their stats in a more logical way than just fighting. It can work with every stat.
"Power Lifting" [Strength Training]
"Long-Distance Running" [Constitution Training]
"Sprints" [Dexterity Training]
"Meditation Class" [Wisdom Training]
"After School Studies" [Intelligence Training]
"Speech Class" [Charisma Training]
I envision this more of a shop-type way of increasing one's stats more than a "You have to RP yourself doing it". The whole basis is spending money to increase your stats. There could be a sub-board in The Store where it's offered.
As far as price?
$100 - 1 point - I think it's a little extreme.
$50 - 1 point - Reasonable.
$45 - 1 point - Perfect. 15 posts = One page of posts.
Well, I'm pretty much done with this. Anyone want to comment, or add to it, feel free.
