Alrighty, so I lost internet connection there for a good while, so i didnt finish the explanation of this.
Each group starting with freshman is a different quest, an upperclassman can take on the other grades, but they will not become the pillar of that grade.
Now each of these guys is a pillar with or without generals, but they all have followers. Let me explain this one to you.
You have to register for followers if you want them with the staff through PM, once you have registered you will be told how many followers you have, at this point you can gain generals.
(NOTE: You may still have generals if you dont want followers)
No matter what each follower has 10's in everything. This system is still being fleshed out so if you have any suggestions, complaints, concerns please do address them to the staff.
Now you may also notice the generals have their own followers as well. Generals must register for their followers as well, because with more figures of importance the more popular your "Group" or "Team" is.
The main goal is for someone from each to defeat their respective quest characters and become their grade pillar.
It came to me the other night. I ended looking up South Central for a piece of my character's past and then moved to Long Beach. From there I though about school size.
If everybody got their own army, including NPCs and not knowing the formula used thus going off Jaus' 109, the approximate school size would at most 3,000 students. That would put it as the smallest school in the area. The smallest by the statistics I found was at 4,000... the largest 5,090... with the others running around 4,500. The average comes out to 4,390.5 students in each public high school in Long Beach.
Now is 259 supposed to be a bigger school from my sense, especially if we go off the added history, which would push the number to the higher end of that spectrum. But this is beside the point, Jaus is a relatively strong character though perhaps not elite. Most active accounts are either graduates or upperclassmen. I can't say I've seen below a Junior. But back to Jaus... he's leading 109 versus the Junior NPC at full strength of 259...
If 259 was the smallest school in Long Beach at 4,000 and breaking that evenly it would mean about 1,000 Juniors...
Where are the 650 during the battle for the title?
What I am trying to get at, albeit in a possibly convoluted sense, is that the army NPC system for Pillardom should be reworked slightly. In essence taking a number and saying that is how many students attend 259. For ease of example I will use 4,000...
Jayr is either closest to it or actually is Senior pillar, I'm not sure but will use closest.
There are 1,000 seniors. Perhaps the others are still lurking with loyal troops to take the title. Instead of giving her a number derived completely by stats, as I assume it is, she should get a percentage of the Senior class that follows her. Say 40%. Now for fairness you could say only a certain bit could be called for Non-pillar involved things and the full force could only be brought in for pillar issues. Meanwhile the other 60% is split between other PC, NPCs, or uninterested members.
Now based on action in more Mass-appealing threads, she could gain or even lose some of that percentage.
The reasoning behind a system that relies on more than just stats, regardless of which stats are used, is that being a good leader and commander takes more than just strength, wit, or even charisma. There is an intangible within leaders that compels people to follow. With Jayr it might be beauty and her desire to bring peace... for others it might be a completely different trait that draws them. In essence, a leader's personality can effect loyalty and how willing people are to follow as well as how loyal they are.
Now this would undoubtedly take some ironing out and moderation awareness on larger threads, however most of the time larger threads are already drawing as least some attention due to the amount of people involved. Further more, players could forward links of threads they feel should be classified as such... in essence a thread turn-in.
Okay so that was the "personal/pillar army" idea.
_________
For stating of NPCs I figured a general progression by class would be good. Though there are strong freshmen on average seniors would be stronger.
Freshmen: 10 in all stats
Sophomores: 14 in all stats
Juniors: 17 in all stats
Seniors: 20 in all stats

Also under the umbrella of this idea... I thought, after current quest line probably, that the NPCs could switch from leader and subordinates to competitors. Obviously freshmen really would be focused on getting used to the school and as students progress up they would be more interesed in taking over. Thus, one challenger at freshmen, two at sophomore, and the upperclassmen having three as their time to accomplish it is running short.
Just another little idea... could force people to work with/ally with NPCs. Though this would add to staff workload.

I thought I had another one but I can not remember what the fudge it was... so now my question.
Just curious on the new custom item system. Are we getting one? I just haven't really heard a peep about it. So simple yes or no is good.
Thank you for reading my ramble. ^_^
