Well, I've been playing a bit of Diablo 3 as of late and this talk about D&D has got me really interested in dungeon crawling. My latest thread with David is the kind of thing I'm talking about Boss fights and more!
I have a suggestion to have a fortnightly mini quest which will lead up to a major quest in the future. By major quest I don't mean anything too detailed. But something like the old days when we fought the Dragons who had godlike stats and we had to band together and basically cluster fuck the boss and work together. So I think it would be really cool if we too worked our way up to something big like a major boss fight.
So here's my proposal, this thread just be one of several that will lead to something bigger and more grand. When a boss is downed each time those involved get rewards (stat items or non stat items it doesn't matter) and a bit more of the story is revealed. We progress further along into the story and at the end we have an epic fight with hundreds (maybe not hundreds) of trash mobs and then one epic boss. At the end of this epic boss we call it an end of the first season and then have a bit of a break and prepare for the next series of fights which lead up to another epic boss fight.
Personally I think this is what several members all ready have in mind but I just wanted to put it out there. I also have a few other ideas about events which we can partake in and maybe elaborate on the process.
Four sub boards, they should all have the same name except the prefix of Easy, Normal, Hard and Nightmare (these names aren't set in stone). They could be Novice, something, Legendary, Godlike IDC. To progress from Easy to normal you must first clear a major quest within each sub board.
The quests will be progressively harder as you go from sub-board to sub-board however the rewards will be greater. Now I don't mean you get millions of items but small cool things like safe zones or materials which you can combine to get a non stat item something cool.
A few cool themes I was thinking was in a post apocalyptic world you would clearly have to scavenge for materials and for food. Establishments like the bar here would be quite rare. So the majority of food would have to be found or stolen. You would be in direct contest with other role-players and npc's alike.
So here is how I think it should got, four or five seasons within a series (easy series, normal series, hard series, nightmare series). Within Series one we have the commander, secret agent, blah, blah and then final boss. Within Season two we have more unique bosses. Now in Normal series we have the exact same 4-5 epic bosses and the same 25 sub bosses however they're harder, their stats are higher or they have QI abilities and so on so forth. However at the end of the fourth series, fifth season we get to verse the final boss which will signal the end of this major story arc of #259.
Alliances will be formed and broken in the attempt to clear harder areas and claim better loot for yourselves. But in the end there will be enough content to last us a year or more! I mused to James (Vetis) about the re-establishment of RoB but gangs in general. Now I understand that there is simply not enough members active to have gangs back in full flight. But if we had to clear these mini dungeons we could have one or two. Just need a group of 3 or 4 per dungeon and bang.
This would also give new returning members who do not have the stats required to fight on even ground with the better geared role-players such as David, Vetis or the many OVER POWERED NPC's David likes to spawn but this would give them a clear progression path to follow that will allow for them to get stronger, improve their role-playing and develop their character in this world of anarchy we role-play in.
Let me know what you guys think.
