The slender woman found she could breathe just a little easier as he got up and moved back over to his own chair. She flexed her fingers as he walked, and gently set the book back up onto the stand, and then setting her fingers atop the keys, waiting quietly so she wouldn't pass them through her hair again.
"It seems that way." She allowed herself a smile, but studiously kept her gaze upon the music.
When she started to play, however, she gave herself fully to the emotion and movement of the piece. She relaxed, finding a sense of tranquility that she hadn't been able to attain outside the running she had managed to do.
Kyrie had missed this.
It didn't matter there was someone she was sharing this with; if anything, at least with Levi, she had some sense of stability. A mutual bond, for the love of the music they shared and played, and that was enough, for now. She hadn't thought of trying to search out or find a piano, and was definitely thankful she'd followed Levi, and that he thought to share with her this gift.
She bowed her head a little, grateful once again for her long hair to hide behind as the melody drew forth a wellspring of emotion and memories that were only just being touched upon after years of suppressing them out of necessity.
The song was, truly, beautiful.

Levi let out a satisfied sigh as they finished their duet. Levi smiled at the thought of the two of them as a duet, the fact that he could easily share this gift with Kyrie was something he would treasure as much as his music. He looked around as he noticed the light had gotten fairly dim as the sun was now setting. Not wanting their time together to end, Levi set his cello down and went to he back, hoping what he had caught a glimpse of was what he hoped it was.
"One sec, I want to check something."
Levi walked to the back, moving a tuba out of the way. Sure enough, what he had seen was a generator. He flipped the switch to turn it on, causing the lights to come on. He wasn't sure how much power was left, but generators were simple enough to recharge. He walked back out with a smile holding his hands out.
"I'm thinking I like this place much better than my house.....no acoustics there..."
Levi sat back down and picked up his cello as he stared through the front windows, speaking to Kyrie.
"This way we don't have to stop unless we want to....I can't think of anything else I'd rather do....care to pick the next one or shall I?"

Kyrie nodded, grateful for the time she could use to compose herself. She reached up to gently brush the tears from her cheeks, from her eyes, and turned to look at the resting cello. She got up and padded over to the instrument, gently brushing the back of her fingers against the beautiful varnish on the obviously adored cello, mimicking the motion with her other hand over her cheeks to clear the remaining damp streaks away.
'So soft~' She marveled quietly with a slow smile. 'Perhaps--'
The sudden flicker and brightness by the lights caused Kyrie to straighten to a standing position and freeze a moment, as if expecting something to happen now that the lights were on. She turned, blatantly hiding what she was doing with an air of innocence as she took a look around now that the lights were illuminating things--even though he had probably seen, anyway. The shadows were noted, and other little odds and ends and nick-knacks, too.
"It certainly is quite a find."
She looked over her shoulder as she answered, this time, gaze soft and her lips curved upwards the slightest bit.
"I would like to continue, very much. I would like to see what you would choose, so please feel free to."

Levi was glad Kyrie was enjoying their time together as much as he was. He knew that being able to say that they had 'enjoyed' spending time with someone was an uncommon occurence. He walked to his book and began to flip through the pages, some songs he had not played since he was last here, others longer than that. How he had missed having someone to play with, this was truly special. He was about halfway through the book when he stopped, a smile spreading across his face. "This one.....Miaskovsky - Sonata for cello and piano No 2 it is lengthy, but it's expressive."He set the book on the stand for Kyrie as he took his seat, giving her a small smile as he passed, wondering why she had been so close to his cello. He assumed she was admiring it, which made his smile grow a little bit as he looked back as he waited for his partner to begin.

. o O ( I see what you did, there! )
The blonde remained at an easily maintained distance as Levi hunted through pages to find his next song, a quiet observer and thus much more comfortable than she had been sitting right next to him. She could admit she was being rather childish about that...but as she had said to David, years of necessary habit couldn't be quickly overcome--she wasn't acting, necessarily, right now, and thus didn't have to have people near and close.
But she could admit to being a little torn in this case.
She was just too anxious for aforementioned reasons to tentatively allow herself to enjoy it. Music she could reach out with.
The smile was mirrored as she moved back towards her seat, glancing at the title with a look of hesitant surprise and pleasure.
"A wonderful choice..." Kyrie nodded, taking a moment to flip the pages to familiarize herself with the music once again. Definitely a worthy choice; the slight woman settled her fingers upon the keys and began to play, even before anticipating the sound of the cello joining in.

Levi was lost in thought and emotion as the generator made a noise and the light flicked then went out. This was the most he had ever expressed to anyone in his entire life, he just hadn't realized music was the medium he needed. He knew some day he would have to suck it up and simply tell her, but he knew she wasn't ready to hear that from anyone, and he probably wasn't able to say it himself, despite his blunt nature. As they finished the song, a audible clunk could be heard from the back as the lights flickered and died. Levi chuckled, emitting a dim light from his eyes as he looked to Kyrie.
"Well for not being charged for so long, I'm surprised it lasted that long.....well.....I make a decent light for quite a while....I believe it's your turn to pick."

At a couple points during the song, Kiyr's brow furrowed just slightly; not everything could be easy and smooth after missing several years of play and practice, but she managed well, in the end. Her shoulders relaxed once again, and despite the lights going out, she stretched her arms high above her head. Long, but worth it.
The dim light caused her to pause and lean her head back to look over at Levi with an owlish blink before her arms were lowered, slowly. Her hands settled, folded, upon her lap.
"Thank you for the light."
He did make quite the sight, sitting there, bathing the room in a soft warmth. It reflected off the cello, and for a moment, Kyrie's head tilted to the side. She turned back to the piano and began to page through the book, one handed, with her other hand resting against the keys. It was a few minutes before she began to play something that would probably be at least familiar to Levi.
Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, the first movement. Of course, it didn't sound completely like the song itself, as it was missing the left-hand chords...but it was there. She hummed quietly along to provide the chords with her voice instead, either forgetting Levi was there - which wasn't the answer - or finally relaxing enough to let bits and pieces of herself start to shine through.
Music~ Levi had a veritable treasure trove. It could easily keep them busy for a long time.
"Hmmm... If you do not mind longer than Miaskovsky's, then I would say Beethoven's Cello Sonata No. 3."
She glanced towards him, mostly to see if he was ready to play.

Levi glowed dimly as he watched Kyrie key out half of one of his favorite songs. He listened quitely as he realized what he was seeing. He wasn't sure if he was feeling something or if it was simply observance, but he felt as if he was catching a glimpse of "the real" Kyrie, as if she had let down a bit of her barrier that she seemed to keep up to protect herself. He smiled as she made her suggestion, staring up as he recalled the song, setting up once he was ready.
"Lengthy indeed....but of course, a good choice."
He waited as she played the intro, swapping as he got into the tempo, and allowing himself to become one with the music. Playing off of Kyrie's expression, remembering one of the greatest lessons from his music teacher, play with the piano, not beside it.
.....I hope this lasts forever.

She said nothing on her playing, or humming, but lead in to the song, getting a feel for the song and using easy, sweeping movements, and then switching to a dainty but lively pace as the tempo swapped between the two. She kept an ear on Levi's part, enjoying the meshing of both instruments.
Things like this were more when the people were in tune with the song.
More, in tune with one another.
It was surprisingly easy, despite her trepidations. The blonde gave herself, always, to the music...but the music wasn't the only being within this place or time. While it was something she was aware of and could acknowledge, but at risk of potentially ruining the synchronicity of what they had, she let it be.
Her posture remained relaxed and soft - yet not slumped - through the entire piece. Once they finished and the last notes faded, Kyrie let out a slow, soft, sigh and rolled her shoulders. She opened the water bottle and took a slow sip, contemplative but at ease, her eyes partially closed.

Levi joined Kyrie in savoring their latest dive into what one could aptly call the conduit for their feelings. The ability to express oneself was somewhat lost to both of them so this, while certainly not the perfect form of communication, this was a perfect form of expression for them given the kind of people they were. "Beautiful....the way you play....I can't imagine if you had never stopped playing."He let out a cool breath as he walked over and flipped through the book, making sure to keep a respectful distance, resting his hand on the piano right next the bottom keys. It didn't take him long to find a song as he looked at his duet partner with glowing eyes and a small smile. "This one is easy to get into, Rachmaninov's Vocalise Opus 34 14, Cello and Piano......I will admit it is short compared to the trend lately, but it's a good piece nonetheless."He walked back over and waited for Kyrie to acquaint herself with the song, still thoroughly enjoying himself.

There was a pleasant ache in her hands and wrists, the beginnings of some in her arms. It was the type of - not quite fatigue, but - pleasing pull of exertion from using muscles that had been at rest for far too long for things such as this. Kyrie turned her head to regard Levi with a thinly-veiled rue; it eased as she began to speak.
"If I had never ceased to play, the world would be a different place. I doubt I would be here...encompassed by memories, yet..." She trailed off a moment, leaving the joining thought unsaid and replacing it with an entirely different sentiment. She had given more than she'd intended, already. "You have my gratitude for the heartfelt compliment."
Had the world not been shattered, she knew exactly what called to her, what she would be aiming for. Perhaps, even, where she would already be. Had things even been different, even a little despite the sundering, she didn't think she would be in this situation, regardless.
The thought was followed by a brush of conflicted emotion that was quickly tucked away. She stayed quiet as he leafed through the pages, and managed a ghost of a smile at the mild quip. With a nod of acquiescence, she let him move back to the cello and took her first look over he song. Despite never having seen this particular piece, it almost seemed familiar. She played through it mentally, occasionally moving her hands across the keys but not pressing down, and shortly flipped back to the front page. A soft breath to brace herself, and she murmured the count and lead Levi in.
The cello added a different dimension entirely, and the blonde could admit she was hard-pressed to keep her composure. By the time they were through, she knew she needed a few moments.
Wordlessly, she reached up and began turning pages, on a silent mental tirade for being so affected by playing after such a long span of time.
"You have an incredible talent, Levi. I am grateful you have shared it with me."
Her voice was quiet but level, and it was one of the few times she didn't look over as she was addressing him.

The cellist looked over and listened quietly with glowing eyes, a small smile appearing on his face as he heard we he thought was the true Kyrie, the one that hid behind the quiet exterior of a lonely woman, the one he hoped to see openly someday. As she retreated back inside herself, he looked back to floor in thought. Though he had only caught a glimpse of what he hoped to see more of, Levi was not frustrated. The constant tug-of-war that went on inside Kyrie, between what she chose to show the world and who she really was, was a battle that he could only help her with by being who he was to her right now.
He stretched as she began to turn the pages and smiled as she returned his compliment. She was hiding behind her gorgeous locks, a saftey mechanism Levi was sure she had used many times tonight. Levi knew all about rediscovering ones' emotions and the anger that was directed towards oneself for "losing control." HIs eyes widened as he felt something from her he hadn't until now. He could feel more than Kyrie's Qi, he could almost feel the mental anguish she went through, his ability to empathize with her, either through his new senses or his own strikingly similar life experiences gave him an insight he hadn't had until now. Levi had this ability with only one other person, his brother Kido, and even then, only when Kido's emotions were on the rise. He decided to keep this to himself for the time being as he was sure people didn't typically like being tracked by their Qi let alone their emotions. He looked to Kyrie and smiled, a tear rolling down his cheek, the reason for which he was unaware.
"Thank you, but I'm playing with you, I could not sound like this without you...without you I..."
Levi stopped himself short and looked to the benches across the room, his heart speeding up, his mind becoming unfocused. Levi beraded himself as he continued to look away from Kyrie.
that's enough.....calm yourself down.....what's wrong with you?
He returned his gaze to Kyrie as he spoke.
"Sorry, thought I heard something....anyway, thank you..."
Levi sat quietly and looked at the floor, resting his head against the fingerboard as he awaited her next choice.

Kyrie went very still at Levi's words--or, much more aptly, the last three before he trailed off. Despite that she'd been raised better, and despite how terribly rude it was, had he continued, she would have bolted into the shadows. But it seemed Levi couldn't go on, which saved her an embarrassingly abrupt departure. It also, unfortunately, meant she would have to let her emotions and the awkwardness that ensued on her part roll off her shoulders. Her fingers flexed to relieve the anxious tension setting over them.
She used the silence to rein everything in and lash it firmly beneath the surface.
Only when she felt stable did she push the hair hanging over the shoulder farthest away from Levi, and look back over as she was spoken to once more, once more serene and composed; if only for her eyes, the picture would have been complete, yet they still glittered with emotion. But it was contained, and more dim than it would have been had she looked over.
"There are no thanks needed, but your gratitude is accepted all the same."
She turned back and resumed searching, tapping one song in particular but passing it by until she came to a stop. She paused at this one and looked through; uplifting, yes, with a faster tempo, dramatic, even. And it slowed back to the gentle, waltz-like quality she enjoyed. Her head tipped and she looked over her shoulder to Levi, silent for a moment to take in his posture. Contemplative...perhaps with a mild confusion, or something else that was on his mind.
"Mendelssohn . Song Without Words." She waited in case he had any type of response to her selection. If there was none forthcoming, she would lead them in, focusing on the music, letting it take her.

Levi knew he hadn't fooled Kyrie, it was pretty clear what the subject of his would be statement was. He was surprised and a little grateful when she didn't rush off. Her emotions dropped off of the radar again as she reined herself in, it was probably for the best. As he felt her gaze return to him, he returned it with a, hopefully, neutral expression, slightly ashamed at his behavior, feeling immature and wanting to leave to save what was left of his dignity. He might have declined in favor of leaving if Kyrie had not suggested the song that she did. This song had a special place in his heart and playing it with her was an opportunity he would not pass up. He spoke quietly as he responded. "A very good choice.....ready when you are"Levi followed Kyrie's lead into the song of his past and his mind when blank as if in meditation, the music almost muffled as his hands playing it almost automatically, his emotions with them as his mind remained alone and revisited his past. Memories, friends and family....all things he had convinced himself he didn't need....and the fact that this belief and stability was shaken by this woman he had only met weeks ago. His conciousness returned to the forefront as they finished the song. He smiled as they finished, keeping his gaze forward. "That song.....it has been forever.....I suppose it's my turn?"Levi thought for just a moment before making his selection without moving from his chair, his eyes a million miles away in thought and tone somewhat vacant, but certainly not uninterested, just distracted until he turned his gaze back to her. "Page 312....Spring Waltz by Brian Cain....."

This song didn't invoke quite so many feelings in Kyrie as previous ones had, but it was still there, and she still felt for and through the song. There was nothing she needed to say, right now, that the music couldn't say for her, so she enjoyed the ride. And it seemed to be a song that meant quite a bit to Levi, judging by the way he played this one, and his distant words, after.
"Indeed." Kyrie intoned quietly, but instead of asking on how he knew the page for the song, simply flipped towards it, glancing outside. "I think that after one more song after Spring Waltz, I should take my leave and go out with a night patrol."
Give them both a break from the somewhat chaotic emotions and memories, let them sort things out. But, also, she didn't want to slack in duties just because her ribs were still harassing her. It would be good for both of them.
And she knew she needed the time to herself.
After a brief study of the song to refresh her memory, she lead Levi in. The song was pretty and soothing...something they probably both needed right this moment, though there was a certain sense of longing to it, too. Perhaps that was just the fact it was a waltz. When the song was through, she took another sip of the water with a slow, careful, sigh. Recapping the bottle, she set it on the corner as she turned back to the song she had chosen last time.
Ironically, it was also a waltz, albeit a bit more lighthearted.
"Brian Crain's Butterfly Watlz . A double waltz to end off an enjoyable session." There was the barest of pauses before she uttered the word enjoyable, as though she had been testing other words. It was a simple truth that playing with him was enjoyable, despite the emotional upheaval that was probably only going to get worse. She offered him another smile, quietly reserved, yet seemingly relaxed once more, from the previous waltz. Her fingers rested gently upon the keys before she brought him in by beginning to play.
