Mental Information
Personality: Ben is a coward and a cheat. Anything he can say or do to come out ahead and alive is fair game. There is no depth that is unwilling to sink to in order to save his skin. And his dignity and pride are not so strong that he needs to fight for it. Prideful people end up dead. Better to serve and live than die on your feet. That's what he always said.
Ben is also a bit of a packrat. He hoards what he can get his hands on and swipes what he wants. He generally lives in filth and pays little mind to his own hygiene and appearance. In fact, he deliberately keeps his refuse on his person and in his home to stay connected to his totem and to attract rats and other vermin to him and his home. An offering and tribute to the spirits, and his closest friends and confidants.
Mentality: I've never seen a fair fight that I've liked

History Information
History: Ben's life didn't change much during and after the war. Or rather, for Ben the war never ended. His once peaceful Canadian Home was ravaged by the great war, and while peace was found in the territories below. What has now dubbed the Deadlands was still a place of neverending war. Death rode through the streets and only the strong survived. Or so most people would tell you. But Ben learned something about himself very early on, the smart was the true survivors. The smart and the sneaky, forced to choose between fight or flights as a child he discovered that flight was where his talents truly lay.
And so it was that he spent decades doing what he had to do to survive. Lying, cheating, stealing, and backstabbing his way to his next meal. You don't have friends in the Deadlands, you have people who haven't betrayed you yet, and who you haven't betrayed you. It was a game of balance, fostering the relationships and letting them grow so you could be the first to cash in. Sometimes you won, sometimes you lost. But he would do anything to make sure he stayed in the game. And in the case of his current situation, that meant running further than he ever had before. Out of the deadlands to the territories down below where he would find some hole to bury himself in and start building his cards up anew.
