It had been difficult to get Adelaide to let her go anywhere by herself that wasn't work related, and if the girl knew where she was going, she would probably flip. Her friend was extremely protective, and seemed convinced that most of her ideas were dangerous, if not outright deadly. Probably because they were. She had dressed down, in simple jeans and a long sleeved, striped shirt that would make her look as inconspicuous as possible. Well, if it weren't for the orange hair and the look of pure terror plastered across her face.
She fiddled with her camera, her fingerless gloves catching slightly on the view holder. She was murmuring to herself. One girl had wandered out, but she thought she recognized her from the craziness when the apartment building officially opened, and she quickly ducked away in hopes of avoiding her. The girl - boy? person? thing - had wandered off without so much as a glance in her general direction, and she had carefully crept back out into the sidewalk, waiting for somebody else. Preferably a Meta. Preferably a Meta she didn't recognize. Preferably not a child, and a Meta, and one she didn't recognize. Yeah, that sounded good.

Drake would be walking out the front door, he had finally given Dime the slip. Damn the persistence of that woman was going to give him a headache... He wasn't his father, and the fact she didn't seem to get that through her thick skull was really grinding his gears. But he walked down the steps a took a deep breath of the clean non-polluted air. It was so much different here than it was back home... Peaceful... quiet. No dangerous mutant creature around every corner trying to ruin your day. He let out his breath... He hated it. At least the other world you had something to fight for. Not here. Whatever, time to explore the place and enjoy his new found freedom.

Shiloh had no actual way of telling if somebody was normal, if they were from this world or her own. She bounced back and forth ever so slightly from foot to foot in nervousness, and just waited... until somebody finally came out the door. She looked up at him, both hands clutching her camera in an effort to keep herself grounded. Was she cloaked? Could she be seen? She often lost track of whether or not people could see her, and it seemed as if they ignored her for the most part, anyway. There was only one way to figure that out.
She bounced forward as soon as she realized that she didn't recognize Drake, and a smile lit her face. Finally, somebody! She waved a hand in his general direction, grinning from ear to ear. "H-hey! Excuse me, sir?" That's what people usually said, right? Oh, but what if he was really a she? His hair was long, but he looked like a he, but she was really bad at telling all of that stuff anyway. She cleared her throat and began to make her way over to him.
"Excuse me, ah.... person. Sorry. Um, do you have a sec? Please? I just need to know... Um, are you... are you a Meta-human?"

Oh gawd what now?! Drake thought as a girl called out and walked towards him. When he saw her he immediately could tell by the look of her soul that she was one of them... but... different. Strange... When she got closer he would stare her in the eyes and she would see that his eyes would solid black with golden iris'.
"Well, I don't know, what do you think?"
He asked sarcastically.

Her soul was a beautiful emerald green, pure and delicate. There was no wickedness within her, no cruelty, no hatred, no violence. She was filled with compassion and kindness, with hope, and with a genuine desire to help others. It was easy to see, just looking at her, that she had somehow managed to make it through the world her entire life without letting it corrupt her. Yet, somewhere deep within her... was fear. Fear of rejection, fear of war, fear of all of the agonies she had witnessed as a child. Her parents had tried so hard to keep her shielded from everything, but that fear was so deeply rooted within her, that it looked almost as if there was another soul - a small child, in a lot of ways - within her, curled into a ball, afraid to come out. Things had been done to her, and yet she had somehow managed to get through those things... somehow managed to keep herself kind.
She jumped, startled at his tone, and seemed to shrink back a little bit. At least she wasn't invisible. That would have made things awkward. She shrugged her slender shoulders, not able to meet his gaze. "I-I... I don't know. Is there... a way to tell? Like, really tell, for sure?" she murmured, mostly to herself. She continued to fiddle with her camera.
"I... I just... have some questions. If you don't mind, of course. I don't mean to bother you. I just need... to talk to you? If that's okay. Would... would that be okay?" she snuck a glance up at him, before her eyes - the same beautiful green as her soul - darted back to the ground.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck! He let out a frustrated sigh as he rubbed the back of his head. This one is easier to crack than broken glass, fucking almost crushed her spirit by answer her first question. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Play nice. Play. Nice... He let out the breath and opened his eyes agian.
"There are several ways to tell if someone is a meta, but the only sure fire guaranteed way to know is if you see them use an ability. Like this."
He would then hold out his hand pull out a small knife cutting open his finger, then as the blood started to trickle down his hand it would suddenly move and come to life as he manipulated it into becoming a small crimson butterfly that he had fly around the girl's head before returning to his hand and resting on his fresh wound.
"Anyways, I don't know what questions you have, so I can't promise to have all the answers..."
Fuck it, already done this much...
"But, I will answer any of your questions that I can."

As long as she didn't have to look in his eyes, she didn't mind watching what he did. As he cut his finger, she winced slightly, but then was quickly overcome by awe. The butterfly fluttered around, as if it were alive, and she watched it with wide eyes, her mouth slightly agape, and reached out almost as if she were going to touch it. She watched it land again, and stepped forward, just to get a closer look.
As if realizing what she did, Shiloh glanced up at him and was quick to take a step back again, maintaining her distance with him as best she could.
"Really?" she murmured, and held her camera tight against her chest. Her face lit up again in a smile, and she gave a slight shake of her head. "Really?" she repeated. "That's... awesome! Look, I... I'm from there." She glanced around, as if to make sure no one could hear her. "I'm from where you're from. Well, probably not... exactly... but I ended up... here. My parents, though... My parents were still there."

Drake chuckled.
"I already knew that you were one of us. However, the way you're speaking, the strange inconsistencies in your soul, and the fact that I don't remember ever seeing you in or around the Ark... I take it you're one of the orphans?"
Drake asked curiously. He had heard rumors about kids going missing during the battle in the Ark, and rumors of orphans scattered here and there through out this world. But this was the first time he had seen one in person. First time any of those rumors had any concrete proof.

"Orphans?" Her brows furrowed, and she gave a shake of her head. "I mean, I'm not... I'm not an orphan, no. My parents are alive. They're still back there. I've... I mean, I've been here for a while now. Years. I was, I think..." She counted back on her fingers, then chuckled at herself. "I was thirteen, when I ended up here."
She smiled, a sad sort of smile, and glanced back down at the ground at her feet. "Wow... I always forget that it's been that long..."

Even Drake couldn't help but feel a twinge of pity and pain for this girl as she spoke her tail. Even more so when she mentioned her parents still being back on their world. He couldn't stop the swell of emotions that came from the understanding of losing both his parents, and every parental figure he had ever known in the matter of moments...
"I..."
He started. Only to lower his head.
"If your question is about your parents... If they were still on our world when the Ark came here... then I'm sorry to inform you that... That is to say... sigh... Our world, with everyone, and everything on it... was destroyed."

Shiloh froze when he said that, all movement and nervous twitching suddenly stopping. She looked at him with a furrow of her brows, and took a careful step back.
"D... Destroyed? But... You're here. Others like us... we made it... Surely they..." Her parents. Her few friends. The people that had surrounded her, and raised her. The kids she had grown up with. She closed her eyes tightly as thoughts of them attacked her mind, and she gave a shake of her head, dropping her gaze against.
"They... could have made it... right?"

This time it was Drake who couldn't stand to look at the poor girl...
"I'm... sorry. Only the orphans, children like you that were saved somehow, and the people inside the Ark survived, and even then a lot of people inside the Ark died by sacrificing their power so that we could come here... Like my father, and my Uncle. The world we left behind... was already being destroyed by some horrible freak of nature... It was an awful sight to see..."

She remained still, her shoulders tense, and stared at the ground. She tried to process what he was saying. She had spent years here, living this life, doing what she could, all with the hopes that she would see her parents again. That maybe... just maybe... they would see how well she had done for herself, all that she had accomplished. She remembered her mom, pushing her on a swing, and her dad, teaching her how to dance by having her stand on his feet. She felt the tears coming to her eyes.
Shiloh swallowed, hard, and rubbed the back of her hand along her face, refusing to let the tears escape.
"Could... they have come over? With you, and the others?"

Drake hesitated a moment contemplating what either answer he gave her could mean...
"I... Do you know how strong they were?"

"They... They had their own territory for a while, when I was born. Before we moved to Zekunft, they owned their own chunk of land. I remember people being scared of them. People tried to take our territory, over and over again, but nobody who came could take it."
She lightly kicked at the ground, and loosened her grip on her camera, just enough to wrap her arms around herself.
"Would... would you recognize them? I have a picture."
